Target.com Pre-Black Friday Sale: Buy ANY Wii U Get $25 Gift Card

First post from my Wii U!:D

The Wii U is nothing short of a technological marvel! Super Mario 3D World really shows off just how amazing it is!

Going back to see if I can get the $25 gift card since I bought my Wii U from Target on November 12th. Hope I don't have a hellacious time at the customer service desk. Wish me luck.

I have had a lot of fun with my system since I bought it. My favorite game so far is Scribblenauts Unmasked followed by Tank Tank Tank, but I'm hoping to use the gift card towards Super Mario 3D World if it's in stock.

My interest for the Wii U has been steadily growing and thanks to Shopkick I DO have a fairly sizable GC...but I think I'll have to sleep on it.

I remember last time I did this, they don't pricematch gift cards. If was a lower price and they can scan your receipt and make the adjustment, but not GC. But it is worth a try, good luck.

Good luck, you gonna need it!

I bought the Wii U bundle on 11/22. It hasn't been opened yet. Think they'll give me a hard time* if I ask for the gift card?

*by which I mean will they have to do a return and re-ring it. I used my Red card for the 1st time on this and I don't know how they handle returns with it. I don't want to have another $300 taken out of my account while waiting for the last $300 to be credited.

I think it'd be pretty easy since it's so close, if not I'd just return it and rebuy. Damn I was waiting for Target to announce a B2G1 before I got any more xbox one games. This was the wrong B2G1 :(

I bought my Zelda Wii U on the same date! I'll try to go talk to them and see too.

About your return, from my experience, if you used a red card debit card, it will take out another $300 while your other $300 goes back in the card. They take about 2-3 days to show on your bank statement though (both purchase and return). I was told by an associate that if you use your red card credit card, they'll be able to process everything in 1 transaction so you don't have to pay again.

I'm hoping I can return and rebuy if they refuse. I packed the system back up and Nintendo doesn't seal it's systems anymore.

Just did the return and rebuy and got the gift card. No money exchanged hands. I simply explained that I had only had it for 12 days. They know I come into the store often. I also mentioned that I had spent $500 in the store this month already between the system, games during the last sale and groceries, which helped.

There isn't a posted buy 2, get one sale in the store so it must be online only.

No signage doesn't mean the system is working to do such a thing.

That's good to know. I bought my system on the 21st, but haven't opened it yet. In fact, it's still in the bag, with the receipt inside. I'm about to go get my gift card, and use it on Mario 3D World. ^^

What they did was return it to cash because I paid with a debit card. They didn't give me any money, so the manager closed the register and then rang it up again. Amazingly, they didn't say anything about the $10 off a $100 purchase coupon I had used during the original transaction so with the gift card and the coupon, I only paid $265 for the system. Of course, they knew I'd be back for Black Friday and I was nice about the whole thing. Manners go all long way with these types of transactions.

Nice! I just got back from my Target. I used my debit Red Card for the original purchase, so they gave me the money back, and re-rung the system. I had to run to the bank to deposit the cash, although luckily it was right across the street. I almost didn't get the gift card, since usually when they return systems, no matter what they would list it as defective, even unopened. I was told they had to have another system at the store to do the return/rebuy. They were sold out, so the store manager went above and beyond for me in getting my card by bypassing the system and letting me rebuy the same system I had.

This will sound like Balogna but I bought 3D World along with an Xbox One with 5 games on Friday. Mario impressed me the most.

After me complaining since the Wii U launch that the system was useless the system is now justified.

I still can't believe I'm playing my Wii U more than the Xbone. Don't get me wrong, Xbox is good and better than I expected but 3D World is just ridiculous.

Major thanks op! Picked up a Zelda wii u bundle at a great price.Total came to $270.74 after 5% red card and a 5% pharmacy rewards coupon. Additionally I get a $25 GC and free shipping really can't beat that anywhere :)

Not shocking. I was surprised yesterday afternoon when I noticed that I had put about six hours into Scribblenauts Unmasked. I've liked the other Scribblenauts games, but as a big DC comics fan, it was pretty cool to be able to write in all these different DC characters. Golden Age, Silver Age, Modern Age, Flashpoint and New 52 - you name them and they're in there. I won't spoil it for anyone, but it's my personal game of the year because of that fact alone. And the off TV capability lets you play on the Gamepad while you watch a TV show, which is pretty cool.

I had also clocked about two hours on Tank, Tank, Tank last weekend. That one is similar to Earth Defense Force on the 360/Vita meets Alien Front Online on the Dreamcast, but it was a lot of mindless fun. Monster Hunter 3 is a little slow at first, so I haven't logged much time on that one, and I haven't even started the Mario & Luigi U game yet, but I'm more than satisfied with my purchase.

I didn't buy Mario 3D World because I think I might do better trading in to Gamestop for their 30% bonus on trade-ins, so I pocketed the gift card and won't set foot in Target again until Black Friday. And PS4 and Xbox One need more software before I take the plunge, although I will probably buy one or both in the next few years.

In store, they have the old Deluxe console with nintendoland for $250, but I don't think it came with a gift card.  Would be a great deal if it did.

Drove 40 minutes to Target; the guy ahead of me bought the last Mario&Luigi bundle. They offered me a normal Deluxe with NintendoLand (and the 25 dollar gift cert). I had to decline, because I already ordered NintendoLand off glyde for like ten bucks. I went across the street to Fred Meyers (northwestern big box franchise owned by Kroger) looking for one and found out they were running a 10 percent off campaign. So, I got out of that 5 dollars better than expected, and with cash not giftcard =)

All of the Wii U bundles in stock come with the gift card both in store and on the Target website. If they don't have the systems out in the electronics case, it never hurts to ask if they have them in the back. I bought the Call of Duty: Declassified Vita from Target a few months ago, and they didn't have them on the sales floor but they found one for me in the stock room. There's an old saying that says that a closed mouth never gets fed, so it can't hurt to ask.

And keep in mind these consoles are eligible for Target's 30 days after Christmas return policy instead of the normal 30 days for consoles, so it's a good way to hedge your bet for a better deal until then.  My receipt says it can be returned all the way to 2/24/14.

But the refund value is only $275 since they make you buy the gift card, and the red card discount is also not the full $15 because of it, but is only taxed on the returnable value, so I guess it saves more in tax.

So I was at target again today, and noticed the $249.99 price on the old deluxe set is actually dated 11/28-11/30, so looks like they just put it up early.  It said temporary price cut, so maybe that is an unannounced black friday price for all wii u systems for black friday.

Took the Wii U I bought on 11/22 back to price match the gift card. The woman was super nice and decided to return and re-ring. She put the refund on a gift card and ran the new sale with that. She gave me the $25 gift card then gave me the one she used saying it still had a couple of bucks left on it and she wasn't sure why. I guess her math was bad.

Good to see that other people are having success at returning and rebuying for the gift card. Extra incentives will hopefully give the system the shot in the arm it needs. And I hope this bodes well for Nintendo since it would be cool to get more Wii U games on the shelves. It's actually a pretty cool system, but most of the games I want like Smash Bros and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem are so far away into 2014. Also, I'm hoping the Wii U port of Watchdogs uses the Gamepad in creative ways.

Just picked up the Zelda bundle. Hopefully Gamefly has some good sales coming up. Anyone know if the Monster Hunter community is still active?

Got this matched at Best Buy and stacked it with American Express spend $250 at Best Buy get $25 credit offer :)

At Best Buy it is up to the manager so YMMV

My Best Buy charged for a $25 gift card and rung up Wii U for $274.99

Got Mario 3D World for ~$40  with the gift card

I asked an employee at best buy if they would pricematch target with the gift card and right away said "no"

did you go straight to the manager for this?

It would still be very YMMV for you even if he went straight to the manager since bestbuy's policy specifically doesn't match deals involving gift cards.

This is true, but you tend to have more sway depending if your elite or elite plus. Also being part of GCU can also beef up your negotiation stand point.

First I called ahead and somehow got transfered to a Best Buy in a near by city, the lady said it would be up to the manager and I would have to call the store in my city. I was near so I drove over, didn't have any Mario Bundles on shelf, guy found one in back, told him I need to ask a manager if they will price match the Target deal, the guy asked the manager on his radio, the manager wanted onfirmation that the price of the system was the same at Target as what it was at Best Buy, the guy checked online, said it was good and gave me the price match :)
