How do I clean the discoloration off of my mouse?

I picked up a DeathAdder in a recent sale. Unfortunately, I just noticed the grey rubberized area near the left side of where the palm rests has changed to a lighter color.

Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening?

And how do I clean whatever caused this in the first place?

 
Odd. The forum won't let me edit the original post. I wanted to say that I've only owned the mouse for less than 2 weeks. 

I'm also sure the issue isn't hair, because I have no hair on the palm side of my hands.
