Surprisingly the Last TV Show You Saw was Good

No idea why this thread didn't exist before, but it does now.

Been binging on my Power Rangers 8-12 boxset.
Lightspeed Rescue: 7/10 (Liked most of it, but the villains sucked and the Battilizers were meh)
Time Force: 9/10 (Don't care if Ransik is not sympathetic, he still rocks)
Wild Force: 7/10 (Due largely to CG Zords and Animus)

ok I will bite

honestly, I had no idea it would be a good show at all, but Lilyhammer on Netflix is pretty interesting. Maybe I just long for cold, snowy weather and mountains. But, it is good.

Last show I saw that I thought would be good but I ended up hating- American Horror Story season 1. That shit got so dumb around episode 6 and by the time it ended I was cursing out loud about why it was so drawn out and lame.

I'm pretty sure we did have a TV thread somewhere.

Either way, I just finished season 1 of Homeland. Very good show if you enjoy CIA stuff.

Just got started on season 2 of American Horror Story and Lillyhammer.

Just finished season 4 of the wire. Good show but kinda boring. I don't get why everyone raves about it. I'm now committed to finishing it though since I only have 1 season left.

The Simpsons post season 11. never watched past this season til recently and they're a lot better than what people are saying.

I totally agree. It's a good show but I also don't understand the huge acclaim. It's worth watching though and sorta plays out like a novel.

How The Universe Works - Pretty good documentary/science fact and astronomy show. It's on Netflix, around 8 episodes and narrated by Mike Rowe. If you never got the opportunity to take Astronomy and Astrophysics in college, this show will pretty much teach all you need to know (and fear) about the universe.

Currently watching Mad Men (Season 3) and Lost Girl (season 3).

Arrow - after hearing cheapy and wombat rave about how good season 2 has been I finally bit and have just about made it through season 1. I've been pleasantly surprised so far. Just how I like my comic book heroes, a little on the dark side.

New girl - just started watching this at the end of season 2. Gotta say that I haven't laughed so hard at a tv show since Seinfeld!!! Highly recommend to anyone that loves smart, quirky humor

Revolution - started of with an interesting premise but has now completely run off the tracks. I really have no idea where they are headed with this show, but I'm not going to waste anymore of my time watching. So typical of nbc post 2000

Breaking Bad season 5 - finished episode 2. It's just sooo good but I'm starting to dislike Walt at this stage.

Person of interest season 2 - this show is complete badass.

Again, I don't think the overall point of the show was to sympathize with Walt. It's a villain story with an origin extending multiple seasons instead of a 2-parter.

The viewer is supposed to sympathize with Skyler and (after Season 1) Jessie. And the brother, who for some reason the name is blanking on me.

You mean Hank. I guess we have differences of opinions on this thing.

All the guys I know see it like I do. We're not too keen on Jessie or Skylar.

Everyone hated Skylar. I think once you watch the rest you'll feel differently.
Which is funny since if Breaking Bad actually happened, Skylar would be on Today and all the morning shows as the victim (at least, through Seasons 1-3) and Walt would be demonized like hell.

The title of this thread is falsely assuming that the last TV show that I saw was good. This is either a deliberate attack on my taste in television or the title should've been something along the lines of "What was the last TV show you watched that made you surprised at the quality of it?"

Well, the movie thread specifies "Didn't Suck" yet people post stuff they dislike all the time.

Meanwhile, finished Ninja Storm. 6/10 Every villain not named Vexacus sucked, not a big fan of the suits or Zords, and pretty much everything with Sensei was bungled. Cam, Shane, and Tori were good, though. Sally Martin could really fill out that ninja outfit.

Doctor Who Christmas Special: 9/10

Didn't like seeing Matt Smith get old and the cop out for the Doctor's name was annoying but it was overall excellent.

Hopefully this season Clara will finally get to do something. She was shunted during both specials and barely had tine to do much of anything in her half-season before.

I think I might be the only person who actually likes Agents of Shield.  Granted, most of that is cause its a great way to see Clark Gregg every week and the rest of the cast is bland but its still not bad to watch.

Also, I'm in season 2 of Breaking Bad right now and I cant stand Skylar.

Power Rangers DinoThunder: 9/10

Loved the show. The cast was excellent, the fighting great, and the music catchy. Didn't like he non-White Ranger costumes and Mesagog's final form.

The special features disc was awesome too. Loved seeing the RPM rangers again. Sean Cw Johnson (Carter/Lightspeed Red) has lost a LOT of weight (EDIT: Eh, comparing the footage, Carter is pretty bony too), Alison MacInnis looks nothing like Dana anymore, Jessica Rey has matured a lot since Alyssa, and it was nice to see the VAs for Zedd, Rita, and Goldar. Had no idea Robert Axelrod was so old. Surprised they went after Jennifer Yen since everybody hated her acting. Erin Cahill is still hot.

Shout Factory was OK with the extras, though no DinoThunder retrospective is EXTREMELY disappointing. Especially since it denied us another chance to finally see Mesagog singing Kira's song "Patiently." It gets even stupider since SF used the DinoThunder menus and music for the extras! The Lightspeed, ADR, and Titanium Ranger extras were great, but Time Force, Wild Force, and Ninja Storm combined to be about as long as Lightspeed Rescue. Also, none of them talk about the villains or secondary characters (sans Lightspeed).

Just finished mad men season 5. I can't believe I enjoy a show so much that really has nothing go on from werk to week

Another media thread that uses my bashed thread title from years ago. Thanks for keeping it up! On topic however, I am working my way through season 1 of Hannibal. A very very well shot show with an alright story at this point.

Dave's Old Porn. It's pretty goddamn hilarious. It reminds me how much I loved Dave Attell's Insomniac and how much I enjoy both his stand up and interacting with people with no script.

I've been watching more movies than TV lately, but I did decide to watch the first season of Louie on Netflix. I thought it was pretty damn funny. It does have a lot of really awkward moments though. I mean the really awkward moments. Sometimes I mute the TV.

That show is awesome, finished season 1 a while ago. I feel the opposite in that I'm opening to a lot more tv shows. Need to finish the last 8 episodes of Breaking Bad, then need to finish up orphan black season 1. Also got season 2 of arrow, season 4 of walking dead, season 3 of Archer to start watching. Then if I have enough time, I wanna check out The Americans and Justified lol.

Only new show I'm keeping up with is Almost Human, watched the pilot and was pleasantly surprised.

Spartacus season one, was a little meh until about episode 6 or so. Normally wouldn't hold out so long, but glad I have. Breaking Bad and Homeland are on the Netflix backlog.

I watched Bates Motel S1 and The Killing S3 this week. Bates Motel was really good and I'm looking forward to the second season in March. The Killing, I've loved the show since the beginning, and I liked the third season more than the first two. I'm glad Netflix picked it up to give it a proper final season this year.

Also, the second season of Banshee on Cinemax starts this week. If you like good action shows, I highly recommend tracking down the first season.

Also,  a new season of Justified starts this week. It may be the best show on TV now that Breaking Bad is finished.

Sunday's American Dad was just messed up, especially the ending. I don't understand why they keep advertising promos for another annoying episode of Family Guy all week long and then we don't even find out about the AD episode except only during FG or the Internet.

Hawaii Five-0 Season 3: 4/5

Even though most of CBS's crime dramas are mostly interchangable, I did enjoy Five-0. Though I wish they gave Danny some more moments of badassery instead of having Steve hog it all. Still written better than DiNozzo though.

Dexter Season 5 - Man, that may have been worse than season 3. It got better towards the end, but holy shit, for a show about Dexter, there was surprisingly very little about the man in the first 9 episodes.

Game of Thrones Season 2 8/10 (First half was a bit slow but really picked up on the last few episodes. The "twist" at the end wasn't as good as Daenery's dragons hatching but was a really good season and I'm really excited to watch season 3. Also, dat Blackwater episode.)

Yeah, I think season 5 was really bad too. Season 3 at least had a couple things going for it.

Dexter 1-4 were amazing and its like someone took over 5-8 and just fucking wrecked it. I thought season 6 was the worst until I saw season 8. Wow.

Someone did take over haha. The showrunner left after season 4 to run Nurse Jackie.

This is how the original showrunner would have ended the series.

I'm actually enjoying 6. Not as much as 1,2, and 4, but far more than 3 and 5.
Yeah I liked 6 a lot. The tableaus (spelling it wrong?) thing was really cool to me.

I can't believe Julia Stiles won an Emmy for season 5. I thought she was terrible. Especially since John Lithgow won the same award (in the male category) for the season before.

My season rankings: 4,1,2,6,3,7,5,8

See, I don't think I would have liked that ending much either. I still think The Shield nailed it in terms of, "how do we punish the anti-hero main character without just killing him off or letting him go?" No other show has come close to crafting an ending as interesting as they have.

Treme Complete Series - 9/10

Treme is not the Wire. What it is is an amazingly well written and well acted, authentic TV series outlining the lives of everyday people living in New Orleans before and after Katrina. If you love jazz, New Orleans or are interested in how communities persevere through adversity you need to watch this show. Treme is a love letter to New Orleans that history will treat very kindly as it does an incredible job capturing the spirit of the city and its citizens.

Boardwalk Empire Season 4 - 7/10

A thoroughly enjoyable season which doesn't quite reach the heights of season 3.  Exited to see what season 5 has in store for the Nucky and crew.

Justified Season 4 - 9/10

Best season of the show so far. Excited to see what season 5 has to offer.

It's still winter break for me, and I've done nothing but watched Criminal Minds from season 1 up to season 7 atm.

I'm so addicted.. I've been neglecting my games from the steam sales :(

The few eps I've seen of treme were good.

True Detectives - high caliber pilot, going to stick with this one.

Are there any dragon'sor anything in game of thrones or is it just sopranos in middle earth?

You know, back in the early days of Pardon the Interruption, I was more of a Wilbon fan. I disagreed with Kornheiser a lot and thought Mike made more sense?

Now, Wilbon just annoys me half the time and Kornheiser sounds like the sane one of the duo. His constant "OMAHA!"s on Monday were freaking annoying, but it was nice to see TK get back at him when Reali unveiled the Cubs new mascot.

Dexter Season 6 - 8/10 - Substantially better than season 5. The twist with Travis Marshall really killed a lot of the season's momentum because it was so cliche and unoriginal, but the ending of the final episode more than made up for it. Great performances from Mos Def and Edward James Olmos as well as the usual suspects.

I Know it's not necessarily "last TV show", since it's still ongoing and has no real breaks, but fuuuuck I love Regular Show. The comedy and homages alone has always been amazing, but add to it now Mordecai's relationship in the forefront and somehow the show has gotten alot more appealing to me. Also just the ease of being able to watch any episode, but the subtle way the show also has a continuity and nods to past episodes is fantastic.
