Got the PM from a new CAG user:

PotatoLatkes

He sends me a PM saying the following:

Sent Yesterday, 03:03 PM

Hi,

I did a deal with you on Reddit yesterday where you gave this account for validation. I sent the money via PayPal yesterday around noon but haven't heard back from you since then. I tried mailing your gmail account as well.

Not sure if other CAGs got something similar, but I choose to ignore and blocked this user as I suspected a scam of some sort. Now this joker leaves me negative feedback. I've contacted Cheapy D and made him aware of the situation. I've had over 250 trades on this site without issue as I am sure many CAGs can attest to that. Has anyone else dealt with something similar?
 
*FULL EDIT - Started to get this resolved. It seems like PotatoLatkes was scammed by a new user on Reddit posing as myself. As you read through the responses as the thread goes it will become more clear. This is absolutely crazy. And big thanks to fellow CAGs for finding "the paper trail" and really digging down deep to help get this solved.

Wow, must be another user with the same name. Thats absolutely crazy. 

I'm actually trying to figure out if I can someone get information on that person. Is anyone familar with reddit that can help me with this? 

I appreciate any info because I don't want my standing within the CAG community ruined by someone with the same name on another site.

I was actually unaware of that until you found the links. I honestly thought it was some weird scam because it claimed that a paypal payment was sent to me/email which I got none of the sort.

 
The situation sucks, but the title made me laugh. Obviously if this person was only trading with your doppleganger because he saw you had good feedback, he really should have messaged you on CAG first to make sure it was actually you.

 
What would you guys recommend I do from here? I contacted Cheapy D to let him know of the issue, but I feel like there has to be something else I can do because I don't want to mistaken for someone else.

I would do what BettercallPitPat said. This might be some kind of a new scam... people finding reputable users on one site and then creating a user of the same name on another site.

 
there is a 'report' button on all reddit posts. Id do that to any from your faker, and contact reddit staff maybe.

yes you must sign up to comment, better pick a different user name  O:)

Also looks like that robolololo has been on reddit for only 4 days. I think one way for it to be settled is potato give the paypal email he sent to, to cheapyd and someone you dealt with recently on CAG give the paypal email that they sent to.

Make a reddit account and yell "SCAM" on all of the other dudes threads, otherwise, this will likely keep happening.

 
I've never had potato latkes, and I can't find any metacritic scores or reviews on them. Can anyone say if they're worth it at this price? If so, in for a baker's dozen.

They're pretty awesome for savory breakfast and not bad with dinner either.

I dunno if CAG 3.0 will let you, but consider changing the title of this thread to something more relevant pertaining to the scammer on reddit.

 
I sent this...is it linked to the imposter rollobobo's thread? I'lll be honest reddit is confusing as hell. I'm not familiar with it.

Yeah the OP can still change it. Probably should be changed just because it looks like there's a chance that the potatolatkes might be just an innocent breakfast food in this whole thing.

Okay, I messaged the MikeyJayRaymond and told him about the situation. Hopefully I hear something back. I also contacted PotatoLatkes and referred him to this thread. I also contacted him explaining that I am not the same user.

I feel like I should be able to do more!? 

Any other ideas/suggestions?

Thanks. It is very frustrating because I take this stuff seriously. Very aggravating.

It's actually kind of ridiculous that anyone with good trade standing could be subject to this. Just ridiculous.

technically you didnt do anything wrong, and your reputation that is tied to CAG/etc should be intact.

TBH, anyone who trusts a username from one site on another unrelated site is a bit naive in my mind.   I can see why the scammer chose to do that, but it's not like it's hard to make an account....   doesn't make it the buyer's fault, but it definitely isn't yours.
