In this week's Famitsu, Capcom announced a collection of the first three Ace Attorney games (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, PWAA Justice For All, PWAA Trials and Tribulations) for 3DS. It sounds like a pretty straightforward port of the DS releases, as it even includes the English language option, but it does support stereoscopic 3D. Scans of the Famitsu article should be up soon. It'll be out in Japan in April.

EDIT: Trailer and official site.

The new release will include the English script, as did the DS Japanese re-release. A limited edition including a drama CD is also planned. Special favors include a serial code to download an original wallpaper and arrange BGM.
EDIT 2: Western release has been announced:

Winter 2014, eShop-only, $29.99

I'd buy it again. Been wanting to play 2 & 3 again, but can't bring myself to buy the trilogy on my iPhone.

They've put up a trailer and a web site:

Looks like graphics are based on the DS sprites, but cleaned up a bit.

EDIT: Looking through the discussion in the GAF thread, it looks like they noticed some missing animation frames in the trailer. Unfortunate, since I remember one of the criticisms of the iOS version was that the animations looked choppier. Let's hope that they at least keep the DS music intact, since I believe that the biggest problem with the iOS version was that it used the GBA music, and removed a music track (Pearl's theme).

EDIT 2: Yep the sprites are definitely based on the iOS/Android version, judging from the latest screens.

That Turnabout Sisters (Maya's Theme) on electric guitar was pretty sweet.

I saw this on Siliconera the other day and considered another cdjapan.co.jp order for the bonuses the same way I did with Dual Destinies, but they're not very substantial.

  • Drama CD (an "all-new" drama CD called "Sudden Combination")
  • Art Book (which collects sketches and other art from the first three games)
  • Pre-orders: three pixel-art based versions of the characters as "reflect charms"
I have all five games on DS too, but I'm very curious to see the changes they decide to make, for better or worse.

This is nice. I might pick it up if it were released in North America in a physical/cartridge format. I don't have the Wii version or the Android/ iOS version.

I won't mind if it has the GBA version of the songs. Just to be as different from the DS games as possible.

I'm guessing this will more than likely be a "digital only" game like Dual Destinies.   If that's the case, I might pass since I have the DS versions still.

GBA version of the songs are the same, just worst quality.

Much to my dismay, I see Capcom making PWAAT3D (unofficial English title: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy 3D) eShop only, and splitting it up at $15 a pop. And dammit, I'll probably buy them regardless because Phoenix Wright.

This trilogy was a part of today's Japanese Nintendo Direct, but the bigger news that came out of the event was that Shu Takumi is working on a new Ace Attorney game for 3DS. No title yet, just that it's a "New Gyakuten Saiban Project" and that it's supposed to go in a new direction.

Here's the trilogy part of the Japanese ND stream:

Nice, now just give North America and the rest of the world Ace Attorney Investigations 2 in English in the mean time to keep the tide of fans coming.

Honestly, what's stopping Capcom from just using the fan translated versions as a starter? I'd say the same with Sega and Valkyria Chronicles 3.

Nice! I hope it gets released outside of Japan too.
Were there any other Ace Attorney games released only in Japan, besides Ace Attorney Investigations 2?

When they say 3D, I think polygons, so I was hoping this would use the same graphics as Dual Destinies.

I already own the original carts, so I think I will skip this.

It's up on the US eShop now. $29.99, 2947 blocks.
