$10 for my ancient nokia cell phone? yes please. I can't even get rid of it for that much on craigslist.

 
Before you scrounge through your old stuff, don't forget this part of the fine print:

Hmm let's see if my 8 year old tmobile phone qualifies for $10. that and an old ass VM prepaid phone, if they hold a charge still.

$20 is better than junk sitting around!

This will probably kill off the old phones trade in.

We have like 3 old phones that I might as well dump. Just as long it turns on, you're good right? Also will land line telephone work? Lol.
 
At BBY right now trying my luck with a manager for my phone trade in. Guy behind the counter didn't know about promotion and said my phone was worth $0. See how this goes but I'm doubtful. He cited the not all products are eligible language in the tiny text.
 
Ok so update: talked to mgr and he gave me a very informal store credit for $10 (pays to be nice). However it doesn't look like this promotion is hardcoded into the system or anything, so this is definitely a major YMMV deal (YMWV? Haha)

So short answer: they're probably still not going to take your old phones. Misleading advertising

In my case, the rep said all of my items were technically worth nothing, but he entered each device separately as that somehow allowed him to input the promo. It took about 35 minutes, but I got my $40, so I can't complain.

What is the value on it in the search?

Trades appear to get additional value as long as they have some value.
 
I might try to get rid of some junky MP3 players I bought at TRU last year for $3. Hopefully they will take them.

Exactly. As long as they have some initial value. The ad makes it sound like if your old device works and the screen is not cracked then bring it in and BBY will give you a guaranteed amount for it, which is not the case.
