Opinions on Extended Car Warranties?

CAGiversary!
So after driving my 98 Olds Intrigue for the last 12 years I finally had to put it out to pasture because it was becoming too unreliable.  I decided to buy a 2014 Kia Forte EX mainly because it had a better warranty and a few more options over the Mazda 3.

I am not a savvy negotiator. In fact, car buying is about the worst thing I can think of when I know I will be dealing with a sales person.  Anyway, I got the car for about the price I wanted but then I decided to buy an extended warranty.  At first I declined the option but he knocked about $700 off the cost and kept the monthly payment close to the original offer by adding 3 months to the financing without raising the interest rate.  I still ended up paying $1971 for what amounts to a 10 year/125,000 mile service contract that covers all parts (minus wear and tear items) including the Onboard communications and driver information display.  It also has 10 year roadside assistance and rental reimbursement.  I also get 4 free oil changes at the dealership.

I got home and started to have regrets right away since this Kia has a 5 year/60,000 limited bumper to bumper and 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty.  It also has a $0 deductible but ONLY if I take it the Selling dealer (anywhere else it is $100) and with the way I move there is a good chance I won't be here in 5-6 years.  Anyway, I have 60 days to cancel with no penalty and right now I feel like I should just go back there and do that but I dread having to deal with the sales people again.

Personally, I would cancel that shit right away. With a Kia Platinum/Gold/Unobtainium warranty, you'd get the same benefits and be able to go to any Kia dealership for warranty work. I'm guessing that it would be less than $1971, but don't take my word for it. Do some research on some Kia forums and get an idea of what the rock bottom pricing is. Usually, there are a couple dealers that will sell it "at-cost."

Oh, and feel free to post pics in the Car Thread. :D
