So apparently I'm not allowed to ask questions in forum topics. Um soooo... I never played 13 or 13-2. Would you recommend trying Lightening Returns despite all the shitty reviews I heard regarding the first two?

you are a pillar of the video game/gaming community.

Thanks you are truly a pillar of the community!

It's because of pillars like you, I remain in this community.  Thank you!

Spoken like a true pillar. The community sends its many thanks.

How dare you speak to the pillar of our community that way. If he says you're a closet vita fan he knows what he's talking about.

There's a demo out. I would suggest trying it. I was actually digging the battle system to the point where I think I'm gonna take my chances and pick it up. I've heard mixed reviews on the import version so I'm eager to see stateside reviews. I didn't really dig the story from the first two entries so not really the reason why I want to pick this one up.

Personally I wouldn't go all out in buying it, as suggested def try a demo out first or borrow/rent it.
