CAGiversary!

RELEASE DATE: 04/04/2014
EARLY ACCESS: 03/31/2014

It is a time of strife and unrest. Armies of revenants and dark spirits manifest in every corner of Tamriel. Winters grow colder and crops fail. Mystics are plagued by nightmares and portents of doom.

Four years ago, in 2E 578, an arcane explosion of energy in the Imperial City set off mystical aftershocks that swept across Nirn. Mages died or went mad. Supernatural abominations from the plane of Oblivion, the Daedra, appeared in greater numbers than ever before. The constellation of the Serpent grew so large that it dominated the night sky.

So began the grand scheme of Molag Bal, Daedric Prince of domination and enslavement. His Dark Anchors, vortexes of evil magic, weaken the barrier between worlds, threatening to merge Nirn and Oblivion into a single, nightmarish hellscape.

In the midst of this chaos, three alliances vie for control of the Imperial City and the White-Gold Tower. High Rock, Sentinel, and Orsinium stand as one, united under the rule of the High King in Wayrest. Valenwood and Elsweyr have forged an alliance of their own with Summerset, while Black Marsh, Morrowind, and Skyrim have formed a third, uneasy pact.

The Daggerfall Covenant. The Aldmeri Dominion. The Ebonheart Pact.

Three armies will take up arms against the Empire, and against each other, to wrest control of the Imperial City and White-Gold Tower from the dark forces of Oblivion itself.

Where do your loyalties lie?

makes me mad its not watching on Xbox until June I'll probably pass on thiswhich is disappointing because I was very excited for it

If the subscription disapears I will play it. I think it will likely end up like SWTOR, just not quite as good in some ways. I think the lore and world are going to be there, just maybe not the gameplay.

I'll never understand why all these MMO companies like Blizzard and everything is great CGI intros in the game looks nothing like it

I started watching that new CG trailer they put out and got bored about halfway through.  I have zero interest in this, especially with FFXIV still stealing my heart.

I didn't even get one early access code, yet. Ordered via gamestop, online....anyone else get their code from gs?

Anyone playing the beta this weekend?

It will be interesting for me too see how my computer runs this thing... I suspect it won't be nearly as pretty as the pictures.

Anyone think this game has a chance of success?

I mean theres like no successful counsel mmo ever (FFXIV definitely isnt either on ps3/ps4, although it was successful on PC)

It seems wildly lacking in rpg elements, I cant see this game doing well with the subscription fee.

And normally I PREFER mmos with sub fees.

been playing on any beta invite I get on weekends (including this weekend since sept 2013).  I guess they are finally rolling out more beta codes because today was finally a time where I got a whole party together.  However with just 2 months to go, I think they have a lot of work that has to be done, and I honestly would not pony up the monthly fee for the game yet.

Why?  Well the quests are pretty linear, there hasn't been a lot of content in the beta I could really see going on 4 or more person party runs to defeat some boss - they are quite rare on the low levels.  I have a bunch of characters between levels 5-15.  the only character class I like is the healer class, its probably the easiest healing avatar i've ever played in an mmo.

i think there is a huge fan base on PC that this game will do well in the PC / Mac area, but console's it's going to not do very well especially if the rumors are true that the world won't be cross play across all the platforms.

I was playing just fine last night but decided to start a new character this morning.  It took about 10 minutes to even load into the game (didn't give me any message about a queue) and now that I'm trying to get into Tamriel, its been at a loading screen for about 25 minutes.  I tried closing out & logging back in, but I'm back at the loading screen again.

Well... I don't like it, but after playing it this weekend I think I'm probably not the guy they're gearing this game towards. I haven't really been a big Elder Scrolls fan in the first place and the hyper realistic graphical style is a bit boring for an MMO in my opinion. Although, this game has the best character editor of any MMO I've ever seen. You can be as ridiculous as you want with your characters, which is fun.

The number of spells seem to be limited to 5, which is odd to me. I guess since it's more action oriented they figure that you don't need that many spells. I guess I'll give it another shot this weekend if they're doing more testing, but right now the game just doesn't seem all that interesting. (Or at least not interesting enough to spend a ton of time playing it.)

Also lots of browns in this game... It makes me want to spend more time with my colorful catgirl with purple and white hair in Final Fantasy XIV.

I really don't think that the game is that bad or that boring...it just has that sub fee and the inevitability of going free constantly looming over it and every single MMO fan can smell it. But they decided to be stubborn and stick with a dying payment model rather than going for the middle-ground and just copying Guild Wars 2.

Honestly, I'd buy it right now if it was just $60 without the monthly. (negativity, bad impressions, beta warts and all)

Interesting. Tabula Rasa was also limited to 5 spell slots and that game is, well. . .gone now.

The 'loadout' approach doesn't really bother me in MMOs but I also tend to gravitate away from the best builds in favor of whatever it is that I have fun using even if it mathematically sucks. :whee:  (one of the aspects which I really enjoy in the original Guild Wars and even Diablo III...plus it's controller friendly in this case)

I am pretty sure that isn't a rumor. Microsoft will not allow Sony products to play with them, or vice versa.

anyone know how many character slots your supposed to get in this game? I keep finding differnt answers but it seems 8 is the one that i see the most

Anyone know of any mass-beta handouts this weekend? I've been dying to play more after the stress test. Hubby and I really liked it and preordered from GMG.

I've been playing it.  Its not a bad game, but it just isnt grabbing me like the real Elder Scrolls games.  I'll probably still keep my pre-order just to have the Emperial Edition for the collection, but I dont see myself paying past the free month.  I've been wanting to get back into FF14 so this may be the push I needed.

Bought it for $41 from Direct2Play.com. Never tried an MMO, but love The Elder Scrolls, and finally have a group of friends that are getting a game like this. I can't imagaine paying $15 a month for it, I'm betting I'll play the hell out of it for the 1st month, and then hope that they drop the monthly subscription after 6-12 months like most other non-WoW MMOs.

Picked this up last weekend for $24 at BB with GCU. Tried a few test builds and settled on a Sorcerer. Also picked up a 60-day card for $23.99, so I guess I'm "IN" for a little bit, at least until Inquisition lands.. after I finish that, ESO will be (supposedly) close to launch on console.

Considering how much time I'll probably play, the sub fee doesn't bother me. If I'm playing this AND buying a bunch of other games, $12/month can get pretty steep. But this will likely keep me from buying elsewhere for a bit. Can always put my sub on hold for a month here and there, which is good for when my 'must have' releases hit.

Am only level 7 at the moment, but getting the hang of and enjoying it more every day.

Probably. Never heard much buzz about it on here in the first place.

Though I had some fun, I let my subscription lapse. May pick it up again at some point, but considering the subscription fee and for how cheap I can feed my gaming addiction elsewhere.. kinda doesn't stack up, despite the fun I had.

After playing for a few days, I don't understand why so many supposed Elder Scrolls fans hate on this game.  It's pretty much exactly I'd expect an Elder Scrolls MMO to be.

The quests are also really good, compared to most MMOs.  I've tried WoW a few times and could never really get into it because the quests were all boring fetch quests.  Here we have some more interactivity and variety.

The game really shot back up in price after the subless buy-to-play announcement. $39 on Amazon now.

I'm looking forward to the change next month.  I feared the eventual F2P change would hinder the quality of the game with too many microtransactions, but it sounds like all (or the majority?) of the microtransactions are merely cosmetic.
