2K14 servers are worse than a LeBron flop

Based on some Twitter "research" it seems like a lot of people have experienced constant server issues with the 2K14 title on next gen systems. What has been CAGs experience?

To me, this is everything wrong with microtransactioning and always online, as game modes are blocked, basic features require in-game purchase, and the lack of responsiveness from the company leaves us to just stew in frustration.

I'm thinking about complaining through the BBB since Twitter contact has been ignored, so I suppose I'm curious to hear if others are seeing similar issues and have feedback.

If that stupid online connection thing wasn't so important, the server issues would only be a problem in playing online matches, but you need it for My Player, My GM, etc. Boo 2K, boo. Dare I say...NBA Live, push 2K to do better?

You're going to run to a government agency because a developer made a lame game? Really?

Punish them by joining the growing chorus giving bad reviews on said subjects and declining to purchase new games from the developer (and even publisher).

Further, stop playing it and sell it. By continuing to play the game, you're giving them the impression that you're enjoying the game. Selling it will pocket you some money to enable purchase of a better game.

The BBB isn't a government agency, they're a mediation one. And my complaint isn't that they made a lame game, it's effectively improper advertising to say it supports features, which they can't reliably and technically deliver. I gave it a couple of months to see if the choppiness would clear up, I complained to 2K on Twitter stating that due to the servers, I want to return the game. No comment, so I'll go through a mediation channel.

So yes, I'm going to complain to the BBB because the game does not deliver what they say it does. Not sure why that's hard for you to get your brain wrapped around. I shouldn't have to sell it and take a loss because the developer can't provide a reasonable service.

...and I'm complaining in a videogame forum to discourage others to purchase, and doing the same on social media.

In MyCareer mode on PS4, I've played past the rookie all-star game a few games, and I've only had a problem connecting to the server one time. It resolved itself minutes later. I generally play 4-5 games a week.

And it's amazing how many people think the BBB is a government agency. He should absolutely report it to them if he thinks it would do any good. I have never thought of the concept of registering my complaint with a video game to the BBB, but it makes sense for minor issues I guess.

Here are the complaints and their responses. People seem to be getting their VC refunded if they were stupid enough to buy VC. However, the structure of the game won't be changed. Going the BBB route might get you some concessions, but at the end of the day it won't change much.

The best route to take, as always, is to vote with your wallet.

Solid link to the BBB complaints. Crazy to see so many complaints (33 pages of them).

Some are just raging teenagers that don't articulate well, but many seemed to be in my boat. We bought a game that is fundamentally broken/unavailable, and through no fault of our own, it hasn't been fixed, with little to make one think that 2K is even trying. Pretty wild. I'm not sure I've ever experienced something in gaming like that.

My son plays this game nearly every day (on PS4). There are times when he is locked out from his Career mode because of the server issues, but it is a small fraction of the time he plays. Granted, it is highly annoying to be locked out for just 1 minute due to server issues given that this is a single-player mode. Recently he's been playing a lot of the online pickup game mode (the one in the park) and it seems to be working very well the last 4-5 days. I think the last time he complained about being locked out was over a week ago.

I have it on Xbox One and I'm not sure if the servers are different, but it seems like based on what has grabbed my attention, the One servers have been down more frequently and a longer duration (hours at a time). It might just be that I'm not paying attention to the PS4 complaints though. If it was just a minute or two a couple times a week, I wouldn't be chapped, but it's been literally hours multiple times. Frustrating.

For sure when they are down it is more than a minute. But he has played nearly every day for weeks and I think there have only been 2 or 3 times he was locked out.

Good to know. For me, I've got limited time to play anyway, so for the windows I try, I'd say about 50% of the time the servers are down. It's harder to say how much time they actually are though, because after a handful of attempts the game goes back on the shelf and I kind of forget about it, compounding the pain of buying a game that doesn't work half the time I try to play it.
