Was also able to solve Windows 8.1 install problem after 8 months (makes sense right?)

Dark magick was involved such as firmware upgrades on SSD & MB.

MB firmware fixed this. You would think they'd mention this in changes but nope.

Guess which of these fixed Windows 8.1 copmatility.

- Updated Microcode.
- Improved VGA compatibility.
- Improved memory compatibility.

- Add more DMI information.
- Improved audio problem when using IVY-Bridge CPU. (Not this I have Sandy Bridge-E processor I belive)

- Update SATA Legacy ROM & UEFI Driver version to v.12.8.0.1016.
- Update audio table.
- Improved memory compatibility.

I have to say this gif loses a lot of its hilarity out-of-context like this. In the episode of the BBC nature series Africa this is taken from, a cheetah is stalking a boar, and then a deer, and both end unsuccessfully. The narrator says (a bit snarkily), "He's blown it. He'll have to find a meal elsewhere." The camera then cuts to this squirrel who's chewing on this nut, who as you see, suddenly drops it and scampers off.

In my mind, he hears the narrator, sees the cat, says, "Oh, sh*t!" and runs off.

Wont take any since it doesnt say what game it is.

I don't think I redeemed these by checking because the pages ask me to link to my Steam account: it's 99 Spirits, Vanguard Princess, and Ether Vapor Remaster.

Off-topic (though it does have to do with the Steam marketplace), but I just listened to the recent Idle Thumbs podcast and saw this chatlog.  Thought it might give us a few chuckles while we look for better deals.

Ah, none of the above, it seems. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or bad thing that I see so many giveaways where I already have every game.

(That said, I'm still hoping someone around here has a spare Orcs Must Die 2.)

Some info on PC version of Watchdogs for once.

It's only 14GB

Spoiler

For what it's worth I can confirm the PS4 version is 16GBs. So, the size disparity between the two isn't as bad as Titanfall (Xbox one vs PC).

Everyone should have the keys they requested and the original post is now up to date with what's left.  I'm going to take a mini-break now, but keep posting in the forum (assuming there's anything left worth grabbing) and I'll get to it when I get back.  Anything left will be dropped ~2 hours from now.

Enjoy everyone!

Bravo sir! The generosity in this thread is always great to see. I didn't need anything, just wanted to say thanks.

This Steam thread seems to attract a really good group of CAGs. Even the few with newbie and oblivious to sarcasm written across their foreheads. ;)

Hey, could one of the hardware gurus on here answer a question for me? I want to know whether my computer will be able to run Shadow of Mordor. The requirements listed are here.

I'm sure this is a lot better than my system but I don't know how to compare these things, except for the obvious stuff like OS and DirectX versions. Here's my rig:

6 GB RAM

AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Processor  2500 MHz

Win 8.1 Pro 64-bit

NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 512 Mb

I'm not a member of BGCQ group so that's not an option.  I think Squirrel has the best idea, we really need a Trashbot service for steam keys.  I don't think any of the games are particularly great, but any possible +1 opportunity is a win.  Here's a listing of the games.  If you want one, quote this with what you want (max request of 2 games).  Some are humble links, and others are direct keys.  Three hours from now, any key that hasn't been requested will be dropped here.  Keys should be valid, but I make no promises that they are.

You're screwed.

You don't meet the stiff minimum video-card requirement.

Your Nvidia card's 3 generations under the requirement (200 series, 300 series, 400 series, 500 series).

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 | AMD Radeon HD 6950

Hell, I have 1 GB of GTX 560 Ti - and being the actual minimum on a game...

...makes me wonder when I might have to do the video-card upgrade.

Especially if more games follow the trend and especially since new consoles are out...

EDIT:

When you buy video cards on the NVidia end, you want to aim normally where the two back-end numbers over 60 (mid-range model within a card's actual series).

I.e. Buy a 400 series card, get a 460 or better;

want a 500 series card, go for a 560 or better;

want a 600 series, 660 or better;

want a 700 series, 760 or better;

etc etc.

I'm not sure how I got involved in this...

Actually I did watch those. I wasn't allowed to watch anything anime related as a child because my parents thought it was demonic for reasons I never learned.

giphy.gif

There's a new VODO Bundle. This one is Really Creepy.

$1
  • Bloodstoned EP (music)
  • Oknytt
  • Finding Teddy
  • Tales from the Creep'd (short films)
  • Nightmare Magazine (6 month sub)
BTA
  • The Path
  • Sang Froid: Tales of Werewolves
  • A Stranger in Olandria (novel)
  • The Furry Trap (how to get laid at Anime Conventions Graphic Novel)

Not bad, but all repeats for me. If you don't have The Path, it's really quite a unique, interesting experience (not a game by any means). It's definitely one of those 2deep4u games, but it's interesting and really thought-provoking in my opinion. You play as different incarnations of Red Riding Hood taking the path to grandma's house. You can follow the path like a good little girl and nothing out of the ordinary will happen... or you can travel into the woods, coming across little things that provide some narrative that applies/comes from the girl you've chosen to play as, and ultimately your goal is to find the "wolf". The wolf is different for each girl... and each wolf is symbolically linked to deeper themes all revolving around issues having to do with a young person or young woman coming of age. You'll find the wolf, some things will happen, and then you're wake up "broken" at the doorsteps to grandma's house in the rain. Upon entering grandma's house, it will be something of a total acid trip, with a lot of fucked up, artful graphics relating to that character's theme and issues.

It's a really odd, dark experience, but it really makes you think. I usually hate 2deep4u games (I mean c'mon, this is the same developer of Old Lady Death Simulator 2010), but this one really did capture my attention, mostly due to it's unapologetic take on some really serious, controversial themes. They did a good job on this.

And on the plus side, the cards are still worth a fair bit (one is still over 40 cents), so you'll make some money back.

I was in my early to mid teens when anime started to be played regularly on Cartoon Network, and I, for one, certainly grew up with Loony Toons, Woody Woodpecker, and the assorted crappics of Hanna-Barbera, alongside a few more modern cartoons.

Those old cartoons were crap. Western cartoons didn't start getting good until the mid-nineties. [-(

Yeah, I think all of us "kids" in our 20s grew up on old cartoons. Just because they weren't new when we were kids doesn't mean the cartoon networks didn't play the old stuff all day everyday. Scooby Doo was a favorite of mine, Looney Toons, Tom and Jerry, all of the above. Tex Avery ones were some of my favorite too.

It's funny that the older folks think we didn't grow up on the same stuff. Hell, they're probably STILL playing the old stuff all the time.

His processor doesn't meet the minimum spec either.  They're looking for a Phenom II, while warreni is still rocking a first-gen Phenom.

I don't know too much about AMD processors and AMD vid-cards these days - so, thanks for the info. :D

I normally follow Intel CPU's and NVidia GPU's.

Not much worth anything.  A couple i3-530's, and soon an i5-750 and i7-870.  I'm upgrading most of my gear this year.

Not much of a deal, but my target has Skyram as a substitution for oos Diablo 3 at $10. I guess it's ok if you want a hard copy.

Hardware talk, finally some incline in the Steam thread. Waiting for Devils Canyon before I do my yearly upgrade. It's probably best to wait until the Haswell refresh is out (hoping mid June) as that will likely trigger a price drop on the other Intel CPUs.

I'm just saving my pennies until Black Friday.  For a video card and CPU at least.  I'm building a whole new rig since my current one is circa 2010.  Incremental updates have been serviceable, but it's time for some new tech.  I even want need a new case.

I can spend days and days just surfing parts, wonderful times.....I assume you know about http://pcpartpicker.com/, very handy site. I'm probably going to do a complete rebuild as well but it takes me weeks to decide on each part. Debating on a new case right now, thinking about this http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811854001 coming from a HAF X. It's time to get something a little less tacky.

Not sure if you have Micro Centers in your neck of the woods but they typically have the best prices on CPUs. The don't ship though, local pickup only.

Yeah, I'm the same way.  I've been window shopping cases at Micro Center and flipping through some at Newegg.  Oddly enough, for me, the case is the hardest part for me to pick.  I'm not even sure what case I'm using right now because I can't even remember when I bought it or from where, but it has become inadequate.  I just need something that'll hold 2-4 optical drives, 6-8 HDDs, has better than adequate airflow, isn't ten feet tall and doesn't have spinning chrome fans and a disco ball.  Oh, and costs less than my future GPU.  Video cards and CPU's are pretty cut and dry.  The MOBO may require some thought, however.

Newegg has the i7 4770k for $320 right now, plus Total War 2 free with it, and that's what's really important.
