Mod edit: good for all versions of the game

I closed at my TRU tonight and set up all the games in the case and whatnot. The $10 Gift Card promotion works for ALL systems (XB360, XBOne, PS3, PS4). So you should be all set there.

----

Toys R Us over on their webpage have MGS5 listed with a 10.00 gift card coming back for purchase. The ad only lists one SKU(Xbox 360) , not sure if this deal will work with other platforms. Guess we'll know more Tuesday.

Coupon Below will knock an additional 2.99 off the game at time of purchase.

hmm i have three options

1. buy this from tru for full msrp (paying this much for a 1 hour demo burns smh) get the gift card and trade it in asap before the tiv nukes

2. get this for 23.99$ at bestbuy using gcu, get no gift card and trade it in asap

3. use gamestops ”7 day rental” policy and just spend nothing

i think imma do option 3 cause as much as i looooove metal gear im not letting konami pimp me out of this much money for a seemingly one hour demo. plus if this does really well other publishers will try it too :(

This is slightly more attractive to me because I have $20 in GCs lying around and I don't buy anything from TRU that often--paying basically nothing for Ground Zeroes ($9.99 after GCs + $10 GC back) isn't too shabby.

Can we assume this applies to the :ps4: / :xb1: versions, too?

I am hoping it applies to the next gen version. I would probably have to grab it on the xbone if it does.

It's in the online ad - as well as $10 GC for New Yoshi's Island
Added image to first post. Thanks!

We can hope, but we can't assume. Ad only shows one number.

Do tru gift cards work on psn cards? do they have kindle cards as well?
I believe they do. However, you can't use them right away. Guess you have to wait at least 12 hours for the card to activate.

this is going to be on the phantom pain disk when that game releases correct ? if so i would advise people waiting for that to come out as imo this game is ant cag imo. you get no equal value for your buck

Wait, if Ground Zeroes is going to be on the Phantom Pain disc, then why do you get "in-game bonuses" for Phantom Pain if you have save data from Ground Zeroes? :???:

I'm betting there will be a 'complete' edition with both games and some limited edition junk. Then there will be PP alone without GZ for normal price $59.99.

they know.ground zeros is a rip off so they try to throw a little extra fluff on top of the extremly small package. sadly its gonna work

I started looked into this game because I dig stealth and am always up for some more of it but, I know saying this doesn't help and it is technically off topic, but holy fuck you guys, this takes some titanium testicles. They must have a partnership deal with a hardware store because all the wheelbarrows they use to cart their gigantic balls around in.  I went and looked into some of the "gameplay" footage and was trying to identify where the heft or core of the experience is and wow, I hope everyone planning on buying this gets a GREAT deal and gets to make most if not all of their money back, because y'all SEEMINGLY (I could be wrong, the game could be amazing and have tons of hidden stuff but chances are slim, but I'm pulling for you fans of the series) are getting fleeced the likes of which I've never seen.

like i said earlier, a gamestop rental solves this issue. no way anyone should spend money on this total.ripoff. and people say ea is bad lol

You make an excellent point, and I hope people do take your advice. It's a smart way of navigating through this business practice/model. I only felt compelled to speak up about it because I genuinely felt bad for fans of the series despite never truly having it resonate with me personally. I am also, like may in this thread, hoping that things like this and other recent games that feel like they are less than 100% of a game don't become the norm.

Isn't it a $20 pre order on PSN?
I just tried online and it only says $20 for the ps3. I don't even see a ps4 version. I'm going to turn my ps4 and see if there's an option to buy it from the ps4 store.

Edit: not even available for preorder on the ps4 store.

So is Josh no longer working with TRU? No sticky thread anymore & I figured he would come in here & let us know if it was more than the 360 version.

TRU is very good about honoring deals and sales as long as its within 30 days of purchase. You should have no problem.
Technically it's 14 day PM policy. However stores can be lenient about it.

MGS V may not even be available until late next year. Ground Zeroes is coming out to hold over the MGS fans. I'm buying this myself at TRU now. Day one and all and I consider myself a cag still :)

He said he was going to stop being the official representative here. He was more of a consultant than an employee. Too bad because I know he had some great ideas. prim has been pretty absent too but TRU's gaming deals have slowed down quite a bit since the holidays.

@donut i want something to hold me over till phantom pain as well but a 30$ 1 hour demo isnt what i had i mind lol. good news is theres lots of games to keep me busy so i can wait :D

Jesus...it's more than 1 hour folks. There's content that unlocks once you clear than main mission...and different ways to go about each mission, offering tons of replay value. It's an easy purchase at $29.99. Even easier at $23.99 for GCU, or with a $10 gift card (you can probably match that deal at your local Best Buy and get the $23.99 on top of that). If you don't want to pay the money for it, then don't, and just stop whining about it.

But people play Metal Gear for the main story. Except Rising. It's all about chopping up cyborgs there.

Anyway, I didn't see this thread because it got buried quickly. I might actually get it if there are more deals like this for the game. I think the drop and the deal is due to the public reaction on the shortness of the main story. Thanks, OP.

cause it pretty much a demo it just like with bravely default on the 3ds if you played the demo ahead of time and played it first then it unlocked bonus's when you played the actual retail copy different here is you being charged $30 for the demo vs Nintendo gave you the demo and bonus's of bravely default free

What?

What he said made perfect sense to me. It's similar to bravely default in that it's essentially an "extra story" demo of the main game, and that by playing the demo, you unlock bonuses that carry over to the main game. But unlike Bravely Default's "extra story content" demo, Ground Zeroes is not free.

Bestbuy have Metal Solid V (PS4/XBOX1) for $30 each (Save $10)  or $24.99 plus taxes with GU member ;)  I will Pre-order PS4 tomorrow with Free DLC in 2015 ;)

I want to preorder too, but for some reason, the website has it in stock for every console except for the PS4. The PS4 version simply says "coming soon", and there's nothing you can do about preordering it or anything. I've been trying to preorder it for days. Same status the whole time. I'm just hoping they have a few extra copies on Tuesday when I go to pick up FFX/X-2.

Kind of scumbag, You should just watch the full game play on youtube when its released

At local best buy the guy there will match gift card offers, which is something best buy doesn't do, then adds the GCU discount

So $17.99 for this isn't a bad deal I'd say
