I think it's been at this price for a while now,Does it say how Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will remain at this price?
Deep, varied & monster hunter dont belong in the same sentence. It's about as tepid & repetitive as it comes. Worth $20 though.Such a great game. So many people spending big bucks on tepid next gen games right now. For $20 you could have a deep and varied experience that could last hundreds of hours if it gets its hooks into you.
I really enjoy it, as many others do It's mostly boss fight-type monsters, although you do get a overworld to explore for smaller monsters / mining / etc. You can change weapons at any time in town - you aren't stuck with the type you pick first. A lot of the appeal is hunting the same monsters a few times to make armor themed after them and learning new fightsIs this actually a good game?
As someone that knows zero about this game, what other game would you most compare it too? I googled it a bit but I'm kind of confused by what I'm seeing, is it basically an MMO like WoW?I really enjoy it, as many others do It's mostly boss fight-type monsters, although you do get a overworld to explore for smaller monsters / mining / etc. You can change weapons at any time in town - you aren't stuck with the type you pick first. There's a demo on the Eshop, but it drops you in the middle of the game with no tutorial...
It has multiplayer, but it is NOT an MMO at all I think the IGN review does a good job.As someone that knows zero about this game, what other game would you most compare it too? I googled it a bit but I'm kind of confused by what I'm seeing, is it basically an MMO like WoW?
No, it was this price before Christmas, then went back up in price to $50. I got a used copy for about $12 after BD coupon and PUR right before Christmas, and last month traded it back to them for ~$25(?).I think it's been at this price for a while now,
the problem is that it's been sold out in most places.
I think that since it's available for shipping, is what made it available to everyone.
thus the point of this thread.
It's the BEST game. Seriously. Anyone with a Wii U needs to own this game. I'm 600+ hours in, and I still play it from time to time. This game is a reason to buy a Wii U, just for this one game alone (not that games like DKC Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3 or Mario 3D World aren't also reasons). Is this actually a good game?
Not at all. It's a game of boss fights, basically. But a lot of the game is preparing for the next hunt. You'll hunt monsters and use their parts to forge armor and weapons. But you'll want to strategize, too, like breaking the monster's horns so you get a horn from him, or cutting the tail so you get the drop from that, because certain item drops are needed for certain weapons and armor. You'll then use that armor and weapon to hunt a more powerful monster, and the cycle continues as you progress to some VERY powerful beasts. You'll aso need to learn to observe subtle cues, like the tells given that a monster is close to death and can successfully be trapped, or the tells of when a monster is in rage mode and the hitboxes change up.As someone that knows zero about this game, what other game would you most compare it too? I googled it a bit but I'm kind of confused by what I'm seeing, is it basically an MMO like WoW?
That's a lie. Monster Hunter is quite possibly the deepest game ever made. People talk about Dark Souls... pfft. Monster Hunter is just as complex, if not even more so.Deep, varied & monster hunter dont belong in the same sentence. It's about as tepid & repetitive as it comes. Worth $20 though.
With that you lost any shread of credibility you might of had.Monster Hunter is quite possibly the deepest game ever made.
Do you even think about what you post. There is so much wrong with that analogy. You just actually proved my point. LolObviously, if the whole game was just repetition, people wouldn't get hooked on it like crack and put in over 1000 hours of play time.
It's an amazing game that is remarkably difficult to get into. Once you do, though, you'll wonder how you didn't manage it before now. It's brilliant. Is this actually a good game?
Or you don't have a Wii U.If you haven't bought this by now it's not your thing -_-
thats actually a very honest description of the game. well said sir.If you like grinding in RPGs to get better gear, then you may really enjoy this game. It is like the ending of majority of MMORPGs, where the only thing left to do is grind to get better equipment. For people who like the end game of MMORPGs, then they may like playing this game since there isn't monthly a subscription fee. This game will not be everyone's cup of tea.
haven't stopped me from picking up 4 3DS titles ranging from $2-$10 new on past deals and I don't have a 3DS yet.Or you don't have a Wii U.
I did the same thing , smh I could have at least played it onceNice deal. Got one on a trade awhile back and traded it away without ever playing it. Time to pick back up and give it a whirl.
Diablo is more about grinding for gear that you may never, ever get, because the drops are random. Monster Hunter is more about upgrading things you already have which require VERY specific ingredients that you get from killing monsters. So MH is more focused. Which is better? Neither. I like both games very much, but there's no question that if you're more gear-goal oriented, MH is the better title. It's very clear what you need to get X item.So when you say grinding, I can grind hours on Diablo 3 trying to get better gear and such, would you say I might enjoy it? For this price I might go pick it up.
Agreed. The demo is the worst thing that ever happened to MH3U. It throws you into the game with absolutely no indication of anything. I played the demo and deleted it three times, wondering why anyone would want this game. Then when it dropped to $19.99 in December, I said screw it, bought it - and my wife and I are addicted as heck. She plays on the Wii U or her 3DS, and I play on my 3DS. Yep, bought 3 copies (two on 3DS, and one on Wii U). An absolute bargain for $60 total. Also, the demo for this game SUCKS ASS. Its terrible, which is a shame because it has probably turned off many people from buying it.
