Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII (PS3/Xbox 360) - $39.99 + FS

Dropping pretty quick.

This is the first time I've ever seen a metacritic score average right on the amazon page, front and center. Did this just start today?

Thanks for the heads up, but guys this game is going to drop to $20 if not lower before the majority of us* get around to playing it.

BTW, I'm surprised they didn't even put the shiny cover on this one to match 1 and 2.

I started playing it already. The demo got me very excited so I ended up buying it as a dinger from AWD for about $32 a few weeks ago.

I don't see it at all. First time I've seen them offer "Local Express Delivery" though.

Wouldn't mind if Best Buy would set this price too so I could GCU it, but with FFX HD that I'm playing now, it will be a while so it will probably drop more by the time I'm ready anyway.

The main problem with this game isn't that the gameplay isn't good, or the environments to jaunt through aren't great, it's that it is tied to one of the worst RPG universes/stories ever, and it's borderline nonsensical if you didnt play and finish the first 2 games.

I've personally enjoyed the XIII Series, so to me this is worth the $40. I've enjoyed it a lot. That being said.. if you aren't a fan of XIII or XIII-2, I'd pass or wait for $20.

The open world isn't too bad and it's nice to be able to kind of free roam and do quests. Still no addicting mini game though!

Solid deal. Pretty confident this will be sub $20 by Autumn so content to wait as work on back log.

I really enjoed XIII and XIII-2 but with my backlog and just getting a xbox one Im going to wait, i was almost going to jump on the collectors edition when the had the square enix sale .

Wife loved FF 13 and FF 13-2 yet doesn't come back to this one. Seems to be same echoed from a *majority* of FF fans. I'd say wait till It's even cheaper.

I enjoyed the previous two ff 13 titles (as well as many ff before them) so I picked this up on release. Unfortunately, I regret it. Played it for one evening and have not had any desire to pick it up again. I'd suggest to wait for more price drops on this one.

Try the demo for this if you haven't. I dunno i kinda want to play it after running through demo. Im just finishing xiii-2 and while this story arch is little off, I've played the first two, gotta close it out. The combat is different so i was like wtf. But it seems sorta cool. I am wonder if FF15 have LR combat system.

this is the only FF series I've played so I've got not major complaints about it. that said backlog is too huge as much as I want to play this right now.

I too almost jumped on the square sale of CE of this game.

I still don't get why this thing spawned two sequels when everyone hated it. Speaking of FF apparently the FFX/X-2 Remaster did better than SE expected in sales so I hope that means they will finally pull their ass out of XIII and go back to remaster VIII and IX. I have their PSN and physical copies but would love to see them touched up, especially VIII. There's no point in remastering VII since you can't really touch up those kinda pixels lol but some day SE will see sense and make that remake. I would LOVE to have an X-3 which seems more likely now that FFX remaster is such a hit but only if they don't make that audio/novel shit canon and base X-3 around that garbage.

I imagine that it spawned two sequels because they were relatively easy to do considering the engine, locations, and everything were already there. That being said, I enjoyed the first two games (haven't picked up Lightning Returns yet).

Well for one thing not everyone hated XIII. Look back at the reviews on Metacritic; by and large they're positive. Nowadays all you hear about is how disappointing it was but that's a bit of revisionist history going on.

But yes, the main reason is that Square sunk way too much money and time into the game's development. Sequels that reused the engine and some assets were a good way to make up some of that deficit. LR13 in particular seems like it was done on a shoestring budget compared to the first two games. It's fun but in some areas it is not pretty.
