How to get God of War Collection for FREE

  1. Head to the storefront.
  2. Get the free full game trials (PS+ required) for God of War HD and God of War II HD on the PS3.
  3. Finally head to the God of War Collection page, and select the PS Vita version. It should be free and upon purchasing it, you'll get that and the PS3 version of God of War Collection for free.

The above method is apparently dead, but a number of people have confirmed it still works if you got the PS3 trials and buy it via the PS Vita Store.

Check your Vitas PS Store if you got in on the PS3 trials. It just poped up free for me!!!!

What if I already own God of War I/II digitally?

If you already own both games, then you can simply purchase the Vita version. Sony confirmed a while back that the title supported Cross-Buy, so you can do this regardless of the glitch. This also applies to people who scored I/II from the other glitch, so those people got really lucky.

About the file size

In this and the other topic, a few people have wondered about the games 15.5 GB file size. This total comes from the combined total of both the PS3 version and PS Vita version of God of War. For those wondering about the actual file sizes, you can find them below.

It's just the combined total of the PS3 and Vita version.

  • God of War Collection Vita - 3.1 GB
  • God of War I PS3 - 5.9 GB
  • God of War II PS3 - 6.5 GB
  • Total Size = 15.5 GB
Will this work on other games?

No. This glitch only worked because of God of War being a Cross-Buy title and how the PSN handles full game trials. Simply put, buying the full game trial results in the PSN thinking you purchased the game, which for one reason or another, was enough to trick the PSN into thinking you owned the game and were entitled to the free Vita version.

Shut the fuck up Slidecage...

It's just the combined total of the PS3 and Vita version.

Vita - 3.1 gb

2 PS3 - 6.5 gb

1 PS3 - 5.9 gb

= 15.5 gb

Some reason the download button disappear on the main store page on the vita.

I went into my options > Download list> Download to still download it.

Not working over here. Both GoW 1 and 2 PS+ trials have been redeemed, but after clicking "Add to Cart" on the product page, it says I'm not eligible to purchase or download the content. I even clicked the itty-bitty shopping cart icon in the search result page (which lists as free), and I get the same error.

[EDIT] After a bit, I was able to get it, but through the mobile site on my phone. It showed as free, and I was able to add it to my cart, purchase (fo' free), and watch as my download queue on my Vita updated with both games.

Freaking. Awesome.

Does it sound like my vita is going out. If i delete a  2 to 3 GB game it takes like 15 mins   for it to stop saying

PLEASE WAIT

They might be in the process of fixing it, the 3.1MB shows as available to download on my Vita but not the individual games. Downloading to my PS3 though, will transfer by USB cable

I get the same

I have GOW I and II in my download list and I see that the vita version of GOW collection is free but when I add it to my cart it says I'm ineligible for this purchase. Anyone else have this problem?

Does the crossbuy version of GoW Collection for vita work with the disk copy of the game?

Yep. Shows up listed as "free" when searched but says "you are not eligible to download or purchase" when you try to add to cart.

Ah, too late for me!  :-({|= That was fixed pretty fast compared to the Omega DLC.

Although I must say I'm impressed with the amount of lurkers in this thread though, any Sony employees around here?

I made the purchase successfully through my cpu but haven't started the download. Will I be okay to download it on my vita later tonight or have they removed that option?

So the trial exploit is gone. What about just "buying" the Vita version by already having the games through Plus?

Yeah, looks like it's dead. The vita collection is showing free but it's has the 'You are not eligible to purchase or download this content" message.
