The game is amazing. What released in 2010 vs. what re-released in 2013 are practically two different games. SquareEnix makes money off of the subscriptions they don't care if they have to lower the price of admission to free if they need to. They want people to sink their teeth into the game for 30 days for free and get you addicted and make money from your subscription. Do some research next time you comment.
Really you just have to link your SE to psn account via ps3 copy. Then upgrade via mog station and download the ps4 client and login. I did my character creation all on ps4.
Yes free till dec. 31. Im new and just bought a ps3 copy and it worked fine, played on ps4 since getting it. At first with the default UI, you will be like what is this crap. But after you adjust it's pretty rad for a console, pop in a usb keyboard if you have one.

if I remember right you would have to create a completely new account and start from the beginning on the ps3 if you want the trial, since jt is for new accounts only
i just registered on ps3, never played, and i upgraded to ps4 and im playing, so i guess the 30 days transfers over. i traded in the ps3 disc to walmart, that is the only place i know of that will still take it, you dont really need it at all, just the code from the back of the instruction book. only thing the disc does is install to the ps3, and you can just download the cient.
You will be able to to add the PS3 license key to your existing account. I don't know if you get a free month, though. I bought it for the PS3, PS4, and Computer, but I never checked to see if I got free months for the computer and PS4. :?
but with the upgrade you aren't adding any extra licenses you are essentially transferring the ps3 license to the ps4 not adding. That why once the upgrade to ps4 is done you can no longer play on the ps3
I absolutely hated the beta. Thought it was garbage..but a LOT of people love this game
i think the problem you will have is to do the upgrade your square enix account and sony account have to by synced, the only way i know of to do that is on the sony system itself, only pc can sync on computers. but, this may be ymmv, if you get the game for ps4 for $40, walmart and best buy are taking it as a trade in for $20. best buy has it listed under "a realm reborn".
Where is the PC version on sale for $14.99?Just a lil tip. I upgraded the ps3 to ps4, rebought the ps3 and registered it to the same Square Enix account. I got the extra 30 days from doing so.
I picked up the PC version as well since its on sale for $14.99. It will also give you an extra 30 days (60 days total)
Just treat it as you paying for a month but with a bonus of being able to play on either system of choice

I actually enjoyed it on the PS3. I played it with my wife, who played on her PC while I was on the PS3. Worked out pretty well. I preferred having the giant TV screen to play. I did plug in a USB keyboard for chat.
Your reasons sound very well thought out and you make a compelling argument, but the PS3 version is fine. For someone that bought this game for the PS3.
