My new laptop has an HDMI slot. I was wondering if I hooked up my blu-ray player to it via that slot? Could I play my blu-rays through my laptop? Also could I use it like a blu-ray drive for VUDU Disc to Digital?

The HDMI port (not slot) on your laptop is likely an output. So is the HDMI port on your Blu-ray player. So, no, you won't be playing Blu-ray discs through your laptop that way.

And I'm pretty sure there are better forums to post this question, or any question.

You could buy an external blu-ray drive for your laptop but it probably wouldn't be worth, most blu-rays come with a digital copy on a dvd so you could just use that. I know it's not HD but sometimes in life you make compromises.
