Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked 2 years $60 (50% discount)

Trustn01

CAGiversary!
I've been waiting for this deal to come back around.  Best Buy will be running a half-off their Gamers Club Unlocked membership from 5/25 - 5/31.  It's normally $119.99 and will be on sale for $60.  They run this promo every once in a while and it makes the membership worthwhile.

Assuming Best Buy is still around for 2 years, here's what you'll get:

Gamers Club Unlocked Benefits:
Get 20% off new video games for 2 full years
Get 2x base points on new video game software, digital content, and game accessories
Get 2 points for every dollar when you trade-in games
Get points on gaming consoles
Redeem Reward Certificates on nearly everything at Best Buy
10% bonus trade-in credit on your video game software trade-ins
10% off pre-owned games
Buy two, get the third free on pre-owned games via special welcome coupon
Save 50% on a new strategy guide via special welcome coupon

I'm still not sure what's going on with their magazine but I assume if it's still being posted digitally, it would probably be included also.

The magazine is not included. The last digital issue was already released and the the new GCU never included @gamer. Only people with the old sub got the mag up until the last month in May here.

Sorry, yes, you do need to buy this one in-store.  That's why I couldn't take advantage last time they ran the promo.

Definitely worth it, jumped on this the last time around and I've been laughing at everyone that buys at MSRP reserve at my store (GS.)

On top of the fact that there's always bonuses, such as the pendant for eso, or the $10 gift certificates for pre-ordering + reward points. It pays itself off quick..

Well worth it don't listen to it the idiots that will be in here soon bashing it..
I bought it the last time it was on sale and I've already saved over what I paid and if you count the glitch a couple weeks ago I've over doubled what I paid not even three months in

To sign up, when I did it at least, just ask one of the people at the registers. They keep the cards under the register.

This is a great deal. I'd renewed in February and got it for $30. I say grab this deal while you can. You can't beat 20% off on NEW games, especially when a game is already on sale.

I believe  this mornings events prove the value of GCU.  Even without the Gamer Coupons best game money I've ever spent.

Well beside  buying Mass Effect.   O:)

I'm thinking of sharing GCU with a friend(registered on my account), would he need me to go with him everytime he wants to get something?

Can I price match a game from Amazon and then use the 20% off discount after the match? Or is that 20% off pretty limiting?

Example, I saw Bravely Default at BB for 40 but on Amazon it was 34, could I have them match that to 34 from showing them my phone and then ask them to apply a 20% discount due to the unlocked thing?

Nope. He just needs to give them the phone number on the account when he buys a game.

Their terms of service state that price matching and the 20% discount cannot be combined. You get one or the other.

Thanks, one more question, if I buy a game today and then get the Gamers Club on Sunday - could I retroactively use the 20% off?

Via a return/rebuy or a CS rep who knows how to give you the credit without a return/rebuy, shouldn't be a problem either way.

If you buy with a year left on your current unlocked subscription, will it just tack on 2 more years at the end?

Would have loved this a year or 2 ago, but my store has shrunk the game section (and all media for that matter) so much it just wouldn't be worth it.

To be clear, the 20% off is valid for any new (read: unopened and not used or pre-owned) game. This includes any special editions of a game that are released.
Correct. The only condition is you are limited to three copies of each game. So you could buy 3 copies of the TITANFALL CE for Xbox One but then no more would receive a discount after that.

My family has 3 Vitas, so not a big deal, but 5 Nintendo 3DSs. This limit of 3 will be a problem when Smash Bros comes out or any other major multiplayer game release that needs a cart per system.

At that point it may be to your benefit to have two separate GCU accounts (two purchases of the $59.99 membership), or do not apply your GCU membership to the last two purchases.

OR you can talk to a BBY manager and see what type of lenience he can offer you. I'm curious about your results with this so do this please. :D

I will be glad to share, but Smash Bros is a long way off and I see no other game in the mean time to cross over the 3 max. So, at the moment it isn't really a problem.

There are other potential problems I may one day have with this rule, which is no where on the Best Buy website that I can find. So I'm curious--- is it 3 EVER or 3 within a certain span of time? Because I usually get a game, play it and trade it in, then pick it back up later on when I want to revisit it/it is cheaper/dlc is released.

And does it include PC? If so, how are games like Diablo 3/Reaper of Souls/PS4 release handled?

I'm gong to go out on a limb (not very far out though) and say that no retailer will ever take a used PC game ever ever ever...ever.

I'm not talking about trading in PC games. I'm talking about the 20% new game discount limited to 3 per title, regardless of platform. If that's true, then Diablo III PC, Diablo III Reaper of Souls, and Diablo III PS4 crosses platforms and overlaps across two separate titles.

going to be a lot of confused people asking same questions over and over one the mods or someone locked the other thread smh we can have worthless threads about AWD Warehouse Deal PS4s and PS3s that only 2 in stock and the rest the thread is trolling and name calling for 8 pages and super ymmv deals stay unlocked but not one that actually helps others a lot.

it is three titles regardless of platform but on the diablo iii reapers of souls on the pc expansion that should be different since it technically a different game even though it a expansion. But on the other two it would count. For Example: Diablo iii PC, Diablo iii PS4 and the Expansion stand alone on PC would count as only two against your limit 3.

My only Gripe is it doesn't apply to digital, then it'd be too sweet!
There`s a chance for alot of change to the program including discounted digital titles along with corresponding sales on digital to match physical so you also get the 20% off too.

Yes.

Last time this sale ran, I bought FOUR years of membership instead of the standard two. It took a few days for my membership to register online, but when it did it said "expires March 18, 2016". So I contacted Best Buy on Facebook and a guy named Mike promptly answered me via email. Couple days later the whole thing was sorted out and my membership now reflects 2018.

In fact, I'm tempted to buy another 4 years and lock in my GCU until 2022. It's just such a good deal.

And contrary to what you might hear from the OP, Best Buy is not likely to go bankrupt. They're an extremely resilient company. While others like Circuit City went under, Best Buy has continued to keep their foot in the market. I read up on it before joining GCU, and while Best Buy isn't the beacon of consumerism they were 10 years ago, they're far from going under.

With the $30 & $60 re-ups as recent proof I wouldn`t go beyond 2018 since you`re pretty much protected for a future re-up. But adding a second GCU account for additional 3 20% off games, welcome coupons & other bonuses would be wise.

If my GCU expires next month, would it be better to wait and see if I get $30 offer to renew or play it safe and renew next week at $60?

if you talking about the targeted $30 for previous GCU Members they aren't doing that anymore and stopped that back in February and said the only offers from then on forth were going to be offers opened to everyone. So very doubtful you will see $30 again except maybe closer to black Friday or something if even that. $60 has been the sale price each time it been on sale and it sells a lot of them so no reason for Best Buy to go lower then $60 since they know it sale at that now.

$30 re-ups are done completely $60 is the cheapest deal we`ll probably see for I`d say like 2 yrs at least. There maybe some flips or other ways to.work it cheaper in the future but you`ll be on the sidelines when/if the better offer comes. Do the $60.

I'm not sure that I can pass on this again. That 20% is too damn tempting.

I got this during the $60 sale in March and its already paid itself over for me...thinking about either adding 2 more years to the sub or having one done in my fiance's name instead.

How much of the benefits of this service are in-store only?  The closest Best Buy I have to me is like a 2 hour drive, so I really only go maybe once every month or two, and if I were to benefit, from most of it, I'd have to do it online.
