Someone told me it has never been revealed, someone told me it is John Smith, and then someone said it is Christos-something?

So confused, hope the resident Who historians can clear this up for me.

John Smith is an alias, he used when he was trying to escape from the Family during the 10th Doctor's run.

The Doctor's name hasn't been revealed. Only a few select people know his name, like River Song. Using his name is apparently a big weapon in the universe

Well, "John Smith" was also used in the Classic era, but it was a callback in that one 10th Doctor episode.

But yea, the Doctor's name has never been revealed. That was actually the big mystery of Series 7, but it was never revealed. It's the password to a special room outside space and time where the Doctor's lifestream resides. Anyone who enters can visit any and all points in the Doctor's life and affect them to suit whatever outcome the invader wants.

Also, the "Who" part is just part of the show's title. The character is just called "The Doctor."

Yes, but it's pronounced "Throatwobbler Mangrove".
