BandFuse: Rock Legends (PS3/360) $9.99 New @ Gamestop

I just got it for like $14 a month ago. :(

It kinda sucks. The feedback isn't as good as Rocksmith's feedback. The levels have huge gaps between them and the notes barely resemble each other.

It's part of the cable. What's the best way to use it without USB? The game kinda sucks.
I'm talking about the adapter that plugs into the back of the Xbox that creates optional audio output for HDMI.

EDIT: But to what you said, if you disconnect the USB end and plug the mini jack into an input on the PC (line-in, microphone, etc) it works just fine. Doubtful it will work for Rocksmith PC, but can probably be used for other recording apps.

Got the only sealed copy when this hit $20 and still haven't done anything with it.

Damn, and I even hesitated buying at the time knowing that they had gone kaput.

Oh well, guess I paid 10 extra for the joy of opening the game up myself.

I see a sealed PS3 version nearby, but don't know if BF is worthy of a double-dip.

So just to clarify, this is 10 bucks with the cable, right?

I'm a little hesitant on picking it up. 10 bucks is nothing but I really am not a fan of the scrolling tab at all. I have enough trouble reading tabs at slowpoke speed, my brain could not decipher that mess in real-time.

Bought the 360 version this evening, yes, it has the cable. Almost bit at $20, glad I waited, especially since I probably won't try it any time soon.

Guess it's worth trying out at 10 bucks. I knew this game wasn't going to last very long since the beginning, but I never thought it'd hit this low.

If anything I'll have a cable ready to go when Rock Band inevitably returns with real guitar support.

The quote button on mobile is gone for some reason. Sp00ge, is this only for 360? I opened my PS3 version and it's a game and the cable.

I'll look into some programs for the small line in. Thanks.

No, unfortunately.
Thanks. I picked one up yesterday just to be safe, but have doubts about keeping it. Wish the cable was compatible with Rocksmith as its dirt cheap on Amazon so this would have been perfect.

Ah, didn't even think about the fact that PS3 most likely wouldn't have the adapter.

Not my pic, but this is what comes in the 360 version:

Guitar cable, audio output adapter and a really long headphone extension cable w/ volume control knob.

The moving tab is hard for me to read (and I have 20/20 vision) at high speeds. That was the big minus with BF. That and the now broken lick lab.

On the plus side, it sounds amazing. The guitar effects engine is top notch. It has some good songs that aren't in RS.

The audio adapter for the 360 is probably worth the $10, if you ever plan to use headphones or anything. Also, unlike the RS cable, you can replace the cable just by using you cable and buying a $2 radio shack headphone adapter to plug in the mini headphone jack.

Well gonna finally jump on one of these. It's worth it for the adapter for 10 bucks for me personally so I can just plug into my sound board I hope.

Ended up getting it. It's not completely terrible, at least not for 10 bucks. I will say though that this game takes a lot of getting used to. Unlike Rocksmith it's not intuitive at all and I can't just *know* exactly where to place my fingers without thinking about it much like I can in RS. In this game you see the number and then there's a split second delay where your brain has to convert that information into finger placement. Once you get the rhythm down in a song it becomes a little more second nature but unlike RS I can't just pick up and play a song, it takes actual practice. I feel like I'm burning valuable brain cells just trying to figure out what I'm supposed to play rather than playing.

Basically, I wouldn't recommend this game at all for beginners. If you have 10 bucks burning a whole in your pocket though, you could give it a shot.

I will say that I can memorize a song quicker in BF - probably BECAUSE I have to work harder to learn the song. Problem is that there aren't many songs I want to learn.

Anyone know if the steal of the week coupon will stack with the pro 10% trade bonus?  It's 50% more for game trade-ins and it will only be worth it if my 10% stacks for having pro membership and I get 60% more.

Thanks in advance.

I actually agree with you on that one. Similar to tabs, I think just trying to figure out what to play constantly throughout the song makes it easier to memorize.

However, I stand by what I said about it being a terrible game for beginners. The reason is that beginners don't yet have the muscle memory and the finger movement to be able to learn guitar. I think that stuff is 90% of the process. With RS you don't necessarily need to think much about translating numbers into finger placement because of it's graphical interface, so you build valuable finger movement skills at a faster rate.

If anything, pick this game up just to have it and maybe play later down the road, but if you're a beginner you're not going to advance very quickly using this game.

As for song choice, yeah it seems most of the songs are already available in RS or will at some point be available, so I wasn't too crazy about that either. I looked through their music store and aside from the Hendrix DLC I didn't find anything that really wowed me. I also noticed some of the DLC was missing (like Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man and a few others). I guess Harmonix really did quit on this game. I feel bad for those that paid over $60 for a day 1 copy.

I think you wanted the other GS thread that's for Trade-ins...

Swung by and picks up one of these for my brother. I personally enjoy the game and like the scrolling tab over the Rocksmith format. All of that aside though, the real incentive here is the adapter that comes with bandfuse allows my brother to hook headphones right to it. He had previously bought Rocksmith but his sound bar still caused too much lag for him. The adapter has solved all of that, so easily worth $10.

I do really wish there was a way to use the Bandfuse cable in Rocksmith. The Bandfuse cable is just so much better quality.

Wow I knew this game wasn't going to do well when it was first announced with pictures of the interface. Seeing their later kickstarter get 1,100 out of its $1,000,000. They obviouly did not understand the market they were going after at all. No way did I think it was going to drop to $10 that fast

Strangely I find the interface a lot less confusing then rocksmith since it spells out the notes. If your first finger is on the third fret you already know your others are on the 4th, 5th, and 6th. Although I do wish they would have put som kind of prompt in there to let you know when you need to shift. Will zone out playing along then at the last second notice the number inside the green or which ever color changed.

Also like the way it puts a major part of the score on timing. Forces you to make much more controlled picking to get the best score.

With I had knon the 360 version came with that box. Always wondered what they were talking about having technology that eliminated audio lag. Oh well both versions are sold out now.

While both are good games in their own right, I cannot figure out what all the hubbub is over the tablature style of BandFuse. The great thing about this is it teaches a real world standard that you can then take and learn from any book, magazine or website with tablature which to me is the best reason to recommend it over Rocksmith. My cousins kid was trying to learn for the last 2 years. He had the original Rocksmith. Just couldn't get the hang of it and had trouble with finger placement. I introduced him to BandFuse and within 4 months he was picking up tabs from the web and learning songs that weren't even in the game. That's proof positive.

To answer your question, it does stack! Just did it the other day xD

Anyone know for sure that the full tab of a song is locked until you rank up???

Thought I read that in reviews (or maybe it was previews).

^ OK, that's not as bad as what I thought you had to do.

I was under the impression that you had to do Easy to unlock Medium, then Medium to Unlock Hard, etc, etc.

Still sucks, but one run through Easy isn't that much grief to get the full tab.

I think most would say that the UI in Rocksmith is FAR better for beginners and FAR easier to read.

Bandfuse has the benefit of being in tab format, but in songs that have lots of stuff, it becomes hard to follow VERY quickly.

TBH, just spending a lot if time in RS made me MUCH more proficient at reading and sting from tab, so I'm not convinced that BFs UI was that much greater. Not to mention that you're never gonna get more songs for it.

Seriously though both are great games and yes rocksmith s better for beginners. Just get both don't worry about which one is better.

Guitar is an expensive hobby. You can't spend $10 better anywhere else. Really you can't get a good cable about the only thing you can get is a few packs of strings some picks or a cheap tuner.

Rocksnith = easiee to understand and actually has practice tools that are fun
Bansfuse = real world tab so you can practice any song you want for free from a tab site and it has a much better sound engine

So again don't worry about which one is the best and get both.

Worse case scenario I figure I'll have a cable available for Rock Band 4. Not bad at 10 bucks.

The game itself is kind of garbage if you ask me. It's far easier to pull up a tab on your own online and learn at your own pace. The game kind of throws you into it and expects you to do it in real-time, and that is not easy to say the least. For that reason I don't really know why people are hailing this game for being better because it's in tab format. I can get any tabs I want for free.

...and probably the learning aspect was more reasonable when the lick lab was working. Then they "patched" it, fucking broke the lick lab and then went out of business. Pretty much shot the game dead right there.

Can you just not update the "patch" and Lick Lab works? Or is it online component that is gone?

I personally prefer Rocksmith, because it actually shows you how to play the song... you can get tabs online for free if you want to try and learn songs yourself... for $10 though, anyone who likes Rocksmith or Guitar in general should buy it for the Amp/Effects etc...
