Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster. I was wondering if anyone had any insight or experience with trading in their used games with Gamestop bonus credits (40%, 50%) compared with selling through amazon and eBay. Are the trade in values with bonuses comparable or very close to sale amounts via amazon and eBay? I am thinking of trading in my Xbox 360 towards a PS4 but unsure if I want to throw in the games as well. Any insight and advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

edit: apologies if I posted in the wrong forum; was unsure as where to post and figured this was the closest match.

Sometimes they are, mostly first party titles, do the calculations with the bonuses and things like that and decide what is best.

Today is the last day for the best promo toward a PS4. $100 for an original model or 4gb. $150 for a 250gb or 320gb model. Better think fast if you like those values. They close early on Sunday.

Thanks Mega and Ziv. I did go to Gamestop and traded in my original Xbox 360 (Arcade, 2006!) for the $100 credit towards a PS4. The guy told me it would have been $40 otherwise for that specific model. I did want the convenience of trading in the games as well but I guess I'll sell them instead.

selling games on ebay almost always nets you more cash trading in is for the convenience you get credit and can walk away with the game you want. no hassle of waiting on him to pay then having to ship

When I bought a large game collection a few years ago, I made a spreadsheet listing out how much I'd get if I sold the game on eBay (minus fees and shipping costs) versus trading in at Best Buy, GameStop, or Amazon. Anything that could be traded in for within $3.00 of eBay went there because the hassle of eBay is not worth a few extra dollars. I've also found that I get more negative feedback and cases opened from sub-$10 items than anything else (and it's nearly always along the lines of "didn't instantly arrive in my hands after I clicked buy"). I'd strongly recommend trading in anything that goes for less than $10 online, and for everything else trade it in if the TIV is comparable to online value (after fees + shipping).

I just took a mixed lot of games to gamestop and got $473.55 credit for them (Pro card 10% with 30% preorder bonus. Wasted $5 on Destiny preorder to get the 30% extra) Amazon would have given me $332.51. Gamestop would have given me 338 without the 30%.  I was suprised GS worked out to be slightly more.  If I just could have traded each game to the highest bidder, but I doubt that GS would have given me the printout. I used to sell on eBay until I got burned by a no-pay. I just wait until I want something from gamestop. Couldn't wait for Mario Kart 8 any longer and I had no space left in my game bookshelves. :)
