Real discussion only please  cause i like to see if any one else has been told this.

Like many know i  delivery newspaper for the last 18 years and have been told i have  carpal tunnel syndrome some days i have  major pain going from my shoulder  into my elbow and  shooting pain in the middle of my palm.  Well i went to the doctor the other week and was told that is getting worse and they want me of  work from anywhere to  30 days to  90 days  just to rest.   I told the doctor yes im  in pain  (i would rank it around 5 out of 10 . 10 being the pain that work up me up last winter when i screwed up my back, had to walk the floor to make that pain go away)  Yes  i do wake up between 10 to 15 times a night but im able to go back to sleep in a few mins.  The doctor looks at me  and says  that if i  CONTINUE TO  WORK  WHEN THE DOCTOR SAYS  YOU NEED OFF   if  it gets worse  they could say you damaged yourself and worse case you need an operation and  put on  disability  you would not get it   cause you continued to work when the doctor said you had to be off  for those 90 days.

Hell my boss is still pissed i had  2 months off last winter and like i told my doctor  my work would pay 0  on any of the doctor visits or  therapy  (since it says right in the contact my job  does not  cover  anything with  CCT or any other  types of it)   So i would have  0 paycheck coming in at all.

I told them i would rather keep working until the pain  gets worse or goes away  (it went away  a few times in the past  by itself)  , But the doctor keeps telling me   im just   asking for it  if i keep working cause they would say i  injured myself and  would not be covered  under  disable laws

Personally i think its  bullshit coming out of his mouth.

Was just wondering if anyone has ever heard anything like this before

Why don't you look for a forum about the law and disability? There must be a ton of them out there since a lot of people need information about this stuff. I doubt this forum is best equipped to handle that kind of question for two reasons. First, the demographics of this forum probably skew younger, so most users probably have no experience with getting hurt on the job yet. I could offer my opinions of what I think the answer should be, but not what the answer is. Second, these lower forums are low traffic. Most people come here for the deals forum and probably won't see your thread.

I did a Google search and I see a ton of quality hits and disability insurance forums.

got to be careful with those places though cousin did one of those years ago and got their id ripped off.

2nd it does not matter if you got hurt on the job or not cause it would not apply to this

mostly was asking if a doctor says I WANT YOU OFF and you go no im going to keep working and mess up the problem worse could they come back later and go Too bad i told you to take time off but you didnt and now your really screwed

like said this is been going on for years and know its not any broken bones or anything like that cause been xrayed and ct scaned and nothing showed

You must think it's true also, or else you would not be worried about being found out by asking on one of those disability sites.
i will be asking over there as well but was just asking here as well too.

point is i dont see a reason to go off of work just cause your have a little pain. Now if it was like my back yes i can see why people would need off work. BUT pain what i would rate not that bad i would rather keep working and then see if it gets worse then say

Hey take a few months off and see if that minor pain goes away

Wait...you are over the age of 12?

Are you kidding me? By reading your typing, I would swear you were 12.

Wow.

I think I would get a second opinion.

Typical carpal tunnel symptoms:

numbness/tingling and/or pain in palm that is typically worse at night (night symptoms are usually helped with night bracing)

decreased strength and/or atrophy of muscles at base of thumb (grip strength)

abnormal sensation or two-point descrimination for the skin that is innervated by the median nerve (google median nerve dermatome)

It does not typically include pain in your shoulder or upper arm.

Here are my questions:

Do you have trouble with rotation of her head toward the side that you have symptoms on?

Do you have pain in your scapular area on the same side as that of your arm/hand symptoms?

I do not know what the law states about this matter, but I would get a second opinion rather than just wait for 1 - 3 months.  If the answers to the above 2 questions are positive, I would have the physician screen my cervical spine as well.

have some pain in neck. but like i said i would rather wait and want to know why? That pain i would rate a 5 few days ago i would rate maybe a 2 now. So i would be sitting off work for no good reason. Like i said i would rather wait till it got like a 8 before i took time off min.

I think you should work while on disability. That way you can get caught and kicked off.

By the way, I think you can get carpal tunnel syndrome from jacking off too much, bub.

Not exactly sure what you mean about "wait and want to know why", but if it was me and I had neck, shoulder, upper arm, and hand pain - I would see a physician who would listen to me, do a thorough evaluation, and let me know what my options are and the relative success rate of the options.

Good to hear that your pain is improving with time though.

i went years ago and they said i had start of carpal tunnel and it would just keep getting worse as time goes on. Back then though i was not offer any time off work. They said the only thing they could do is either

Time off work or surgery what does not do much good (parents have it as well and they went the surgery route and it did no good for them)

Slidecage, are you mentally retarded?

Seriously.

If you are I won't ask why you can't type correctly when you have spell check, I won't ask you to rephrase your statement because you use the wrong words in wrong places.

I won't make fun of someone like that.

The man has carpal tunnel. It's probably part of the disability that makes it hard to craft sentences and type them out. Jeez, so rude.
