I guess you can listen to Wombat's other podcast, Uninformed Opinions.

When looking up what games that use the CryEngine, the list was really short (only future notable title being eVolve). Meanwhile the Unreal Engine list just kept going, and going. Also a lot of Publishers (like EA) are using their own in house engines like the Frostbyte engine. That's why Epic is trying to appeal to Indie devs with the 5% of all sales for using their engine.

Also Cheapy can use the SNES controller for Genesis' games on the Retron 5.

I like how Cheapy scoffed at the idea that Adam Sandler performed at Shipwreck's college.  Not only did Adam Sandler perform at the Univeristy of Rochester in the mid 90s, so did Carrot Top.

Another great show guys.

Cheapy, check out The Beatles Love at the Mirage, its a great Cirque du Soleil show!

My college was a little more low rent so we had things like Dustin Diamond (Screech) come through to do stand-up.

Gregory Peck is the bomb.

Shovel Knight is the fusion of pretty much every NES-era 2D platforming/action game (Mega Man, Ducktales, Zelda 2, Castlevania, Super Mario 3, etc.) with a touch of humor. I am quite annoyed that it's only coming out on Nintendo consoles to start with.

Option 3: Have a second controller. Controller goes dead put it on the rack and pull the one that was on the rack off and continue playing. The one nice change with the PS4 is that you can charge it by plugging it into your system even when it is turned off which wasn't the case with the PS3.

I was really disappointed when Cheapy was talking about Skyrim and said: " They have texture mods and all kinds of shit that makes the sky look better"

And Wombat didn't interject: "that makes the rim look better."

Shovel Knight is so good. I bought it on Steam. Don't worry about NES type difficulty. The game is fair and there are plenty of checkpoints. Also I think there is unlimited men, you just lose some gold when you die. Great looking sprites and awesome soundtrack too.

I agree with Wombat about Evolve. Its doing nothing for me game play wise. It's looks like a game of Hide N Seek. I saw the E3 tournament footage and it took long time for some action. I loved L4D versus multiplayer, so I'll a least give it a chance when it comes out.

I was only scoffing at the comparison of actors/filmography between Adam Sandler and Al Pacino.

@Cheapy You can plug in every controller in the console at once and then play games such as Sonic with a NES controller and Zelda with a Genesis controller. It's weird, but hey, at least you can do it.

According to another CAG, putting Shaq Fu in the Retron tells you to try another game with a sad face. You can see that post (with the pic) here.

@Ship, I got my black Retron yesterday. My order was made in January. I'd like to hear what you think of it once you get it in the mail, though. PS. Update it ASAP as the original firmware will wipe out the battery saves on your games, you can learn the overly complicated update process here: http://retron5.in/node/2

Yeah I don't understand the Hyperkin logic with the controllers. If they took them out they could have also reduced the price a bit, which is ironic considering it was raised due to demand/costs (more like Hyperkin saw that everyone was jumping on the pre-order bandwagon and decided to charge as much as they could have gotten away with).

Would have loved a Retron release at $100 without the controller. But for now with all the issues I'm going to wait till demand drops to the point where all sites are in stock and I can somehow grab one for that price.

Thanks! Shaq fu worked in mine!

Could you please put the link to the current CAGcast thread back on the front page? (Or is it still there and I'm missing it?) It's much more cumbersome to get to this now...

The first Transformers game (of the recent ones), War for Cybertron, was really fun because it had online co-op. I really enjoyed playing through it with 2 friends. Then, for some god forsaken reason, they removed the co-op from Fall of Cybertron. I didn't even bother with it because of that. When I first saw this new Transformers game on Steam, I saw that Steam said it has co-op and I was a bit pumped to play it with my friends. Then one of my friends did some research and found out it only has co-op in a certain mode, and not in the campaign. So fuck that game, too. Why remove the best feature when it was in the first game?

As for the subject matter of these games, I don't really care. I have no connection to the original Transformers, and I actually enjoy the Michael Bay movies for what they are: mindless action movies.

Skyrim is far, far superior with keyboard/mouse. All of the Bethesda games in that style were made for that control scheme. It's sad that they dumbed down the UI in Skyrim, probably for consoles, because there's so much screen space being wasted in it compared to the previous Elder Scrolls games. I would recommend the SkyUI mod for you Cheapy, because it makes the UI (inventory, etc) so much better. However, that mod takes a bit more work than just the Steam Workshop stuff because you have to add this launcher thing in, and then you have to open the game from that from then on. It's on Nexusmods, not the Workshop.

I wish I could be as blissfully unaware of all the feminism stuff going on as Cheapy is. I honestly do. Everything is an issue these days. I know it makes me a horrible person in those people's eyes, but I just do not care and am so tired of it.

But yeah, the main reason for the Rainbow Six game getting all the crap it did was AC Unity's fault. The fact that Unity has no playable females and then another game by Ubisoft has a female hostage just did not sit well with people.

Totally agree with Wombat about Evolve. L4D appeals to me because it's co-op. (If you can't tell by now, I REALLY like co-op.) Evolve is not co-op, though; it's competitive multiplayer that happens to be 4v1. It has shown absolutely nothing that makes me want to play it.

You guys are complete IDIOTS if you think the One had a worse launch then the 360 RROD fiasco.

O man I want to piledrive all of you into a Toilet.

I think that the resolution and frame rate are the same for Destiny on PS4 and Xbox One.

http://www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/PS4_vs._Xbox_One_Native_Resolutions_and_Framerates

I think it comes down to what Wombat actually eluded to - what console your friends have or are getting the game on.  If Wombat had not received a free PS4 as a gift and only had an Xbox One, it may sway Cheapy D and Shipwreck's choice about what console to purchase it on?  Let me know if I'm right.  It is just like PS3 and Xbox 360 - the games were typically almost identical with some exceptions like Skyrim's horrible situation.  I don't think Destiny will be much different or would have been that different  even if they had not changed the kinect graphics junk.  I will admit that Destiny will probably look a bit better on the PS4 though.

I do agree that the XBone launch was worse, but it was not because of the 1080P vs 720P junk.  It was because of them pushing digital only, always online, and no kinectless sku.  Nobody mentioned these and it was that stuff and the price of $100 lower that put Sony on top in last year's "zeitgeist" after E3 2013.

Hey Cheapy, I was in Vegas for the first time 2 months ago. We stayed a week but to be honest 4-5 days is probably enough. I'm a big Penn and Teller fan so I'd suggest that. My #1 recommendation is to spend an evening at Fremont St Experience. It feels more like the Vegas I was expecting. The Heart Attack Grill restaurant is there too. Anyone over 300lbs eats for free.

One more tip. Theres a "deuce" bus that runs up and down the strip that hits all the main casinos and Fremont st, you can buy a daily or weekly pass and it's a lot cheaper than cabs although it seems to take forever.

I assume they were referring to it effecting sales because to me the RROD issue was HUGE. The Xbox one launch I don't have any thoughts on it since it still feels too early to tell.

I saw "The Beatles: Love" in Vegas, which was awesome. I'm not usually a huge fan of cirque du soleil, but coupled with Beatles music was quite the experience. They also have really good drinks! I'd definitely check it out, if you're in the mood for that kind of thing.

Awesome you're getting to see Diplo! Hope you have a great trip, and happy anniversary.

Thanks for a great cast again guys, keep it up.

I think Titanfall is a better game than either Oblivion or GRAW.  It is certainly more fun than either game, and it is a next gen exclusive which neither of those games were.  The thing about the Xbox program is it has been second place the last two generations.  The key is to make money and continue to build up momentum.

I thought the Rainbow Six would have been better if they ditched the live hostage and just used a bomb.  I think it would have fit the idea of what they showing off better.  I had that split second of confusion when I realized this wasn't a single player demo, but something from multiplayer.  I have to say I was slightly disappointed.

Dota 2 and Liege of Legend are both derived from a mode of another game. It has not stopped them from being a couple of the most popular games in the world.  I would wonder if they would be so popular if they were not free, but it still shows that if the game is deep enough people will be attracted to it.

Penn and Teller's show is really smart and funny. You'll love it, especially if you already like them. Buy the good seats in front if they are still available.

The Game Critic's E3 awards are only given out to games that are playable.

Please note the following games were not made playable to Game Critics judges and therefore disqualified from award consideration: The Division; Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain; The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

When in Vegas you've gotta go see "Rose. Rabbit. Lie.".  Seriously it's great.

Also if he is still there go see Carrot Top.  I know, I know but you won't be disappointed.  His live shows are hilarious.

Also look up The Laundry Room. It's a speakeasy bar that is hidden within another bar.  You need to have reservations and the reservation number is secret.  It's a pretty cool place.

Also you NEED to start listening to the "Five Hundy By Midnight" podcast.  It's great.  It's hosted by a husband and wife and they are freakin' hilarious.  You won't be disappointed.

I do not think the Xbox One launch was worse than the RROD 360 launch.  The 360 was able to overcome, because it was the only new console out.  It had no competition!  I think you guys overlooked that.

As of other have said, the ps3 wasn't released yet. But we knew it was going to be $600 with hardly any games. This time around, PS4 is cheaper or at least it was. But the bigger difference is the fact that Sony actually knows what its doing. Last generation, the first few years at Sony was a complete mess.

there isnt a whole lot to see in Vegas unless you are gambling.

I can think of better places than that dump.

Cheapy, my buddy recently went to Vegas and used this service called Jackify to get VIP access to a bunch of the clubs and pools. He's a cheap ass too and said it was worth it.

I've been following Evolve pretty closely since it was announced and cringed when I heard Wombat guessing about the number of hunters, maps, monsters, etc. because it was so off. FYI when the game launches there will be 12 hunters, 12+ maps, and 3 monsters. Also, 2K and Turtle Rock have said that there are more game modes than just the 4v1 hunt mode we've all seen, although they haven't given any details. Last, they've also said that any characters that aren't being played by a human will be AI controlled, so it's not going to be a problem when you only have 1 or 2 other friends to play with because the game can have the AI control any unfilled positions.

I do get Wombat's concerns about a potential lack of variety, but I think with 12 different hunters (3 from each class, each of which will play different from the others within the class), over a dozen maps, more than just the 1 game mode, etc. I'm hoping that won't be a problem. My only concern is that there will only be 3 monsters at launch, although hopefully future DLC monsters will add more variety at a reasonable cost.

I think the CAGs forgot how the RRoD fiasco went. Sure, you can throw money at it, but MS didn't. They spent a long time denying problems. Remember when they swapped RRoDs once and then said they weren't doing it anymore because they were all fixed now? All while still sending out more bad ones each day?

MS was not square with customers for a long time in that mess. Sure, in the end they did cover the problem pretty well, but it was awful before that. If that had occurred earlier in the 360 lifespan it would have been the end for 360. You simply had to tough it out (remember how many bought new Cores because MS' repair system wasn't working quickly or well) because you already had more invested in games than the console.

In the end, it did change what I did. I discontinued my Gold subscription and started buying every game I could on PS3 instead. And I still had go to through the same nonsense again with Gears of War 2 came out and my console died in the first 10 minutes of playing it.

The messaging on Xbox One is bad, but the RRoD fiasco was worse. The RRoD just came at a time which made it easier for MS to overcome it.

On another note, did anyone else note the Wombat concussion episode and sympathy seemed to have about the same lifespan as Titanfall's time in the sun?

I'm behind on podcasts but my wife and I are going to Vegas in August.  Last time we saw Zumanity and loved it.  Really fun for couples.  Not sure if you've been already or not but if there between Aug 4th and 8th I'll buy you a beer.

My wife doesn't drink or gamble (except 5c slots) and she loves Vegas.  Don't have to gamble to have fun.
