Ebay Transaction Problem

So basically I shipped out the item already. 

After the item was shipped the seller basically said it was the wrong item.

Is this the right protocol to follow?

1. Tell the seller to refuse the package.
2. Wait for the tracking to say that it was refused.

3. Refund, but subtract shipping costs?

So basically I ship everything free though I just add in the price to the item.

Do you guys think I am allowed to charge the shipping fee to them? All my listings have been no returns and I have had over 100 transactions with no problems.

To be honest since he didn't tell you till after you ship it, I would have him eat the shipping and PayPal costs not fair to you..wasn't your mistake. I had an issue where someone bought an item from me but than I refunded it all without an issue cause he made a mistake. No issues, nothing shipped, all money returned.

Call or email eBay support they'll tell you what to do.
 
What was his actual reasoning that it was the wrong item?  He just misread, or thought it was something else?  Was your description misleading?  If you can get him to fess up that it was his mistake then it will make it much easier on you when you do contact eBay in regards to the issue, and let them know he admitted to the mistake, and eBay will make them pay for the shipping back, or at least be able to deduct the shipping out of the refund yourself after receiving it.

Yes he admitted to the mistake right away.
