For those who didn't know yet.  Apparently there's a kickstarter campagin that includes the orignal creators Jim Riley, Rob Fulop, and EP Tom Zito for a HD release of the classic(whether you thought it was good or bad, it still deserves that title) Night Trap for modern hardware.  The outline is for a physical release across 4 platforms(PC,Mac,PS3,Xbox 360).  You can find more info here,

It's interesting to say the least.  Like probably most on here I was introduced to this back on the Sega CD, hell I still have my copy of it.  Whether it succeeds or not remains to be seen, but I for one am going to throw a few bucks at it at least in the attempt for nostalgia sake.  Just think about it, maybe if this is successful we'll get a Slam City with Scottie Pippin HD release!

It just says Xbox and Playstation.  Where does it say for 360 and PS3?  I mean for $20, I doubt they would give you the XB1 or PS4 versions if they were to be released.  Honestly, I wouldn't mind a PS1 version or an Xbox version.  PS2 would be alright as well.

Anyway, I kind of wish there was a tier where you get all platform versions.  Like between the $40 and the $75 tier.  I never had a Sega CD or played Night Trap.  Heard there was a Sega 32x version.

Just watched the "controversial scene" LOL.  Might jump on the $20 tier if I can find the money.

It says PS3 & 360 in the very first question under their FAQ. Since this is for a HD release I don't think a PS1 or PS2 is viable option. Also there is a tier to get all 4 verisons, their Delux Limted Box Set, but it's at $500 :whistle2:(

It's also worth noting that the FAQ also mentions about the packing the $20 tier will be shrink-wrapped in a cardboard sleeve. But the $40 Autographed tier will be shrink-wrapped in a numbered box.

Backed. Was just waiting for them to specify whether it was 360 or Xbone (when they first posted the Kickstarter it only said "Xbox").

Wow, I didn't even see the FAQ section.  My mistake.

Yeah, $500 is way too much money.  I stopped scrolling after the $150 tier.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was a success.  The stretch goals were to include at least digital copies of Night Trap for the XB1 and PS4.

Now for me to try and decide between 360 and PS3.

I watched The Game Grumps play it some time ago and I doubt I'd ever play an HD remake, then again I suppose it could be fun to check out for a bit. I just can't see it being worth buying.

Id get it if it were steeply discounted like during a steam sale or something but I have the original and there is no way in hell id pay 20 for it. Ill just watch someone's play through on youtube. Its just like a shitty movie that you click a couple buttons to keep it going forward, it was novel in its day but even then just barely.

I'm just kind of excited about owning and playing a crazy piece of gaming history that at the time I could only read about in GamePro.

I agree with the Bombcast guys that this sounds like the Kickstarter of people who don't quite know what they're doing... or worse.

Plus, I can't really get behind bringing back something for the sake of cheesiness. I rather put my money in to actual quality games.

I never even thought of the idea of taking those old FMV video games and using the original film to make HD remakes. Now that I think about it, they did re-release Mad Dog McCree and Dragon's Lair.

I'm sure Night Trap has its niche fanbase, but I doubt they are going to hit their goal. These types of games were universally disliked back then. Then again, a lot of these games have about as much gameplay as Night Trap yet are universally acclaimed.

The Kickstarter looks typical. I have a feeling that if they were female game developers the criticism of them would be characterized as harassment and abuse.

The guy's story about how terrible Nintendo was to deal with was an interesting anecdote from an insider. I keep hearing it characterized as him saying "fuck you Nintendo" or "slamming" Nintendo. But that's journalism for you.
