it is ymmv, since everyone has a different story. some people said their store does not even check the console. so anything goes

I could've sworn that $100 has been the base value for PS3 slims for a few weeks...

I guess I can wait to get through some of my backlog before I trade mine in now. Score!

Do we even have to request a promo?   According to the site, my 120GB slim ps3 is worth about 100.  Can't I just walk in, trade in the system and walk out without needing to make any connected purchase?

I'm pretty sure that's been the consensus so far. There doesn't seem to be any purchase required for this promo and the fine print doesn't indicate it either.

 
I bought a 250GB Microsoft brand hard drive to attach to my 360 Arcade back in 2008. Then I took the hard drive out of it to put in my new S model. Can I just attach the shell for that to my old Arcade and trade it in without having the HDD attached? :eek:
