I'm looking for a bluetooth speaker to connect to my Android tablet and smartphone for when I'm at home. What should I expect from these things first of all? Are they capable of producing enough quality sound for a party? Or is it something that's just loud enough for me to hear while I wash dishes? Can anyone recommend a good quality model that's not too expensive? There's so many models and the price ranges are so wide that it's difficult for me to make a choice.

I had an HDMX Jam a while back, ended up selling it, since I never use it, but it packs alot of punch, for a speaker it's size. paired easily, and worked great, also had a nice little storage jar (for lack of a better description) you can get them online for pretty cheap. $25-$40 range for the original models, and the newer models are in the $40-$60 range, not sure about their performance. I wouldn't say it's "party-loud", but plenty loud for everything I ever used it for.

You can get the Nakamichi BT05 bluetooth speakers for a reasonable price online. They were being sold at $40-50 at Sears recently, and I picked one up because I needed one for my Android tablet. It has great sound for the small form factor, and the battery lasts about a week before you have to recharge it. It fills my apartment with clear sound and is barely 3 inches in size. They even look nice.

Quick ebay search yields some for half that price: http://www.ebay.com/itm/321490244924?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
