Please answer the following question below, as well as add any other feedback you may have:

1. List ideas of good games to use for the trophy tournament.  List anything you think sounds good, others can weigh in on suggestions.  Ideally, games will be:

  • Challenging but not impossible
  • Require skill, not just beatable by using a guide
  • Previous PS+ preferred but not required
  • Older games are still eligible, please don't feel like you have to focus on newer releases
  • Don't edit your list of game ideas.  Make new posts with new ideas.
  • List of PS+ games all-time

1.  Games I thought might work from PS+:

Strider (though it seems like it might be too easy plus there is a guide)

Joe Danger Vita (I heard it was buggy though)

Vessel (easy? guide already exists)

Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate single-player trophies

Trine 2 (very challenging)

Limbo (5 deaths trophy would be challenging)

Stealth inc

Unit 13

DmC

Rayman Legends non-online stuff

Rayman Origins

2. I dont' know.  Interested to see what others think.

3.  Exact start times may be needed for simpler games where the trophy contest turns into more of a speed run challenge.  Maybe do this on a case-by-case basis.

4. I don't know .  Interested to see what others think.

1. Muramasa Rebirth; DmC; Arkham City. Platinum trophy is moderate for all of them, and is more skill based than just relying on a guide to find all the collectibles.

2. Monthly seems good, but you might have to refrain from having a prize sometimes unless you want to foot the bill once people run out of things to donate.

3. I think a start date is good enough. If you set an official time there is always going to be instances where it's great for some people but terrible for others (be it work/sleep/prior commitments), and I doubt anyone is going to get too crazy far ahead with just a few extra hours.

4. Suggestion: if someone has played the game before on their profile they have to sit out the first (first several?) day(s). If they have more than X% (25-30% seems a decent cut off point) they're disqualified.

/thoughts from someone likely to never enter the contest.

Uh-oh. Should I hold off on starting Rayman Origins, then?

1. Out of what Tyler and Ninja have listed, I agree with these:

Strider

Limbo (I 100%'d it on Vita, but not on PS3--would that disqualify me?)

DmC

Rayman Legends Offline Stuff (that makes it far more enjoyable, but the Murfy stuff can probably DIAF)

Rayman Origins

Muramasa Rebirth

I already 100%'d/platted Arkham City, Stealth Inc., and Unit 13, so I'd have to sit those out. I'll add these as potential candidates:

Dead Space 3 (offline stuff)

Kingdoms of Amalur (too long, maybe?)

Shadow of the Colossus

Sleeping Dogs

Vanquish (Stotch and Pete also mentioned this)

2. I agree with Ninja--monthly is just fine. The only caveat might be if the Top 5/10 were awarded very quickly (e.g., within the first couple of days), then you could consider doing a second game that month.

3. I agree with Tyler--a case-by-case basis would probably be best.

4. I think I agree with Ninja for the most part, but I almost want to say that this might require a case-by-case basis, too. I'm not sure exactly how, though.

1. List ideas of good games to use for the trophy tournament.  List anything you think sounds good, others can weigh in on suggestions.  Ideally, games will be:

  • Every month pick 1 game from PsPlus
  • Next: October
  • No ps4 games :error:

I would prefer ps3 games as I'll have those and can participate :D

I think a start date is good enough

I agree with Ninja on number 4.

For games I think Rayman legends, Lumines, an unchartered game maybe? I prefer RPGs or third person shooters, but that might take too long.

1. I'm down for any of the following games:

3D Dot Game Heroes

BloodRayne: Betrayal

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Catherine

DmC

Mega Man 10

Mercenary Kings

Muramasa Rebirth

Outlast (this could be interesting)

Trine 2 (PS4, of course)

Vanquish

2. Just one per month.  Down time to play whatever you want is nice.

3. I have no preference either way.

4. I think anything more than 3 or 4 trophies is too much depending on the trophies.  It should be a case by case basis though since some games give you a trophy for pressing start.

Everyone should cherry-pick one or two deals from the XBL/PSN/Steam threads and create a new thread about them.  then when people call you out, get super defensive and say you don't follow the mega threads because they're super off topic and not always updated right away and that the deal you posted wasn't in the title of the other thread.

1. I'm seconding most of these.
3D Dot Game Heroes
Batman: Arkham City
Binary Domain
Dead Nation
Devil May Cry
Mercenary Kings
Muramasa Rebirth
Rayman Origins
Remember Me
Shadow of the Colossus
Stealth Inc
Trine 2
Unit 13
Vanquish

Maybe we can have a vote or poll to see the game most people have since not everyone subscribed to PS+ at the same time. If we get more Day 1 release titles they should get priority. Otherwise, if none of the PS+ titles for the month seem like good candidates maybe we could vote on a game that's on sale during the first week and then set a date to buy and start it that Friday which would give us a few days to vote.

2. Monthly seems good. Keep it simple.

3. Like others said, a start time would be hard to manage since everyone has different schedules and we can't please everyone. I think a start date is appropriate. If we choose a PS+ title then either that Tuesday of release or the Wednesday after if we want to do a full day. But again, timezones. Would we start it at midnight Pacific? They're the latest.

4. Case by case basis for eligibility. It's too hard to say. Anything above 20% complete should definitely be disqualified. Maybe a limit of 10%. It made be hard to measure depending on the game and how trophies are tracked.

Random Note: Seeing how not everyone has a PS3/4/V I think we should try to mix things up (i.e. not do an exclusive PS4 game multiple months in a row) or give priority to CrossBuy titles.

How about the monthly tit winner gets to choose the next game? Or a handful of them that we vote on.

I agree with Cleaner to make priority to cross buy games. Having it be a game that is strictly ps4 or vita would narrow the competitors down a lot.

Ps+ games should definitely get priority as well.

I like the idea of winners choosing the next game, and I'm not just saying that because I'd be the first. :whistle2:

However, I think there might need to be a stipulation for repeat winners--if someone wins 1st place two months in a row, the 2nd-place winner for the second month should get to choose the game.

I'm not a big fan of one person being able to choose the next game.  Maybe if the community gets the choices down to 2 or 3 finalists, the previous winner can choose from that.  But I think everyone who wants to participate should have a voice in the choosing, at least to a certain extent.

It's also important to remember that not everyone is going to be eligible for every challenge.  Zimm already got left out of the first challenge, there may be a challenge or two where you are ineligible.

Pix the Cat. Duh. (though obviously if it has couch-coop trophies that's an issue for you loners. But could always say the contest is won when you get all but the local-multi trophies).

I was going to suggest driveclub, but I see that people that have had the game on psnp since 9/10 still haven't platted it. so it's probably a huge timesink/grind on getting the levels up or whatever. maybe there'll be something super awesome on sale next tuesday.

I wish we knew what Dust and Pix the Cat's trophies looked like.  They seem to be the only two options this month from PS+.  Arkham Asylum seems like it would be OK too, except I'm sure almost everyone has already played it by now.

Once I pre-order LBP3, I think my total will be at 3 games purchased at launch. All have been because of the kids (LBP2, Mario Kart 8, and now LBP3). I think you have at least 2 this month dont you :)
I've bought 100+ games during my time at CAG--I think buying two games in one month still qualifies as "almost never". :nottalking:

Best Buy's GCU is also a very alluring mistress.

Dust trophy list is out, and it's the same as the 360 list.  I really don't think it's a great game for this challenge.  Having played it before, I could have it done by Wednesday at the latest, and I don't think those who haven't played this game before should rush through it at all, it's an amazing game that should be placed at a normal place.

If we were to do it, it would just be a sprint and the person with the most free time between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon would definitely win.

I'll still include it as an option though to see what everyone else thinks.

Please vote on both polls.  Crunchewy will hopefully post more about how the Spelunky Daily Challenge would work since he knows the most about it.
