Iron Man bringing CIVIL WAR to Captain America 3

Robert Downey Jr hasn't been negotiating with Marvel for Iron Man 4 - he's been negotiating for Captain America 3. Yes, Iron Man will be co-starring in Cap 3, which is either going to be called Civil War or Fallen Son - I've heard both names getting tossed around.

And this isn't some small bit. This isn't a cameo. Downey will be shooting 30 or 40 days on the film. He's basically co-starring.

When Marvel heard that DC moved Batman v Superman originally slated on the same date as Cap 3, they wondered if DC had heard the story and knew that Batman versus Superman wasn't going to match up to Captain America versus Iron Man.

I'm not clear on how the Civil War story will play out, since the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn't have secret IDs to reveal, but I can tell you this: the fallout of Avengers: Age of Ultron is going to be huge in this movie. There is a lot of destruction in that film. It makes an impact.

Civil War was one of the biggest and most successful comic book events launched earlier in 2006. Like the comic book storyline, the new pact will be significant for the Marvel cinematic universe considering the plot will pit Stark against Captain America’s alter-ego Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, as they feud over the Superhero Registration Act, which forces anyone with superhuman abilities to reveal their identities to the U.S. government and agree to act as a police force for the authorities.

Stark supports the program, but Rogers does not, saying it threatens civil liberties, causing sides to be taken and Rogers, among others, to go on the run to avoid arrest. The moral question and battle with his Avengers teammate essentially makes Stark a villain of sorts in “Captain America 3,” providing Downey with a meaty role he could play out into future Marvel films, including a fourth “Avengers.”

The fallout from the government and Stark’s actions would factor into a new “Avengers 4″ film and beyond that will assemble new characters being introduced like Ant-Man and Doctor Strange, among others, in their own movies.

Marvel on Monday announced plans to reboot the Civil War comicbook miniseries in 2015, which will help introduce the story to new readers leading up to “Captain America 3.” The first crossover of Marvel’s biggest characters, including Spider-Man, was published in 2006.

I like this idea, and have expected it to happen when I first heard they were making an Avengers film.  The biggest issue I see is the fact that Marvel Studios doesn't have the rights to the other films.  I really think for the Civil War story to be able to have its full effect they need Spider-man and the X-men films.  I'm still looking forward to this.

I kept hearing this would be the basis for Avengers 3, which didn't make sense because I thought all this build up was going to be for Thanos in Avengers 3. It seems a little weird to me that it would play out under a Captain America banner though. I wonder if the rumors of Sony and Marvel working out a deal for Spiderman are true or not, as I hear his role in the Civil War is huge. (I don't know much of anything about the comics)

I guess they could do it without Spidey but it wouldn't be the same since he had the most interesting role in the entire series. And honestly I don't see Sony lending him to Marvel to promote a Captain America movie. Unless the name is changed to something like Marvel's Civil War.

But Marvel's on a role and would welcome a surprise out of left field.

I'm not sure if there's any truth to it, but from what I've read, Sinister 6 in 2016, and no new Spiderman until 2018, so Sony might be willing to play ball so they don't lose any brand recognition (as much as you could lose with a name like Spiderman) considering part 3 would be coming 4 years after part 2.

Is this sentence really correct? Why would the Secret Wars series not count as the first crossover series? Maybe there was even something before that, but it definitely tied into multiple story lines in the Marvel universe including Spider-Man.

From what I read it's supposed to coincide with the new Civil War event next summer, so the story could be different from the one most of us already know.

I think this is going to confuse the audience.  When have we seen our favorite super heroes beat the shit out of each other?

Again....how many people follow every single animated/comic series??? The average movie goer won't understand unless you spend time setting it up. If they set this up at the end of avengers 2, then ok.

They fought a lot in The Avengers movie. Cap, Iron Man & Thor's famous meeting, and even after the battle they bickered quite a bit. Hulk chasing down Black Widow then getting into it with Thor. Then Hawkeye was brainwashed most of the movie. I don't see how them fighting each other is confusing for people who only follow the movies.

It's not. Plus, I'm sure they will set it up some in Avengers 2.

That's a bummer though if we wont see Thanos till Avengers 4...

It's not gonna be the same story, if they stuck to the comics it'd take a long time to get to that level.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just yet. I can't imagine them teasing Thanos for that long.

Maybe Avengers 2 will build to the Civil War in Cap 3. Then they come back together and fight a common foe in Thanos. Again this is all a massive speculation.

I don't mind it just as long as it doesn't set up for a Skrull invasion afterwords, like the comic did.   That story was just plain boring compared the Civil War story.

Skrulls are Fox property since they fall under the Fantastic Four banner.

If Spidey does appear, then that means Amazing Spider-Man 3 will be a film adaptation of One More Day!

Somewhere between the release of this and the new DC movies, another GI Joe movie will be thrown into the mix..along with another transformers lol.

So instead of the New Warriors/Nitro blowing up Stramford it's what Bucky did in Winter Soilder that ignites Cival War. I like it. The scene with Cap and Bucky trashing Iron Man was pretty fucking cool. Plus the 1 second shot of Black Panther got me excited.

I'm not too worried about the Inhumans, considering HYDRA is capturing them and locking them up. So, Captain America feuding with Iron Man for the same reason as in the comic books. Why haven't I seen these "other vigilantes" if the tv shows won't figure into the MCU at all?

I'm glad they worked Bucky in as the main catalyst for the war. I feared he was going to be shafted to a secondary plot that wouldn't properly be touched on after I heard they were doing their own version of Civil War in this. It's kinda dumb the government is blaming him and wants to hold him responsible for things he had no control of given his state but stupid, unfair logic like that is also used quite frequently in the comic world to set up motivations and plots so I guess good job echoing them here.

Spidey's eyes look weird animated.

Also, read an article recently about how stupid it was that Ross is going after the Avengers when there's Inhumans and HYDRA still running around and S.H.I.E.L.D is still technically gone.

It was stupid of them to put the tv show in the same universe as the movies in the first place because eventually we were going to hit this problem. You can only do so much with the time you have in a movie whereas the tv show doesn't have the same constraints.

They already managed to do a decent job of writing around too many "heroes" and not enough time in Avengers 2 but by the time Avengers 3 rolls around there just won't be enough screen to have anything more than cameos for all the new heroes like Daredevil, Punisher, etc. which doesn't even address how many new heroes are coming from the movies like Doctor Strange.

Movie is still 2 and a half weeks away, but they're so confident they dropped the embargo already, so far....

Yea, I watched a few video reviews and they all loved the movie. The only negative I've heard was Baron Zemo. Looks he has as much of an impact as Strucker.

Oh my goodness.....

Maybe he'll create a Metal Gear Iron Man game or something :D/

TV show doesn't need the movies anymore. It's made me less excited for this movie because it just sounds like just another slugfest.
Don't understand this point of view at all. The whole Captain Amaerica v Iron Man has been slowly coming to a boil in all of the previous films. So when they finally do duke it out, it wont feel rushed or contrived or feel like just another slugfest, like Batman v Superman.

Kevin Smith loved Affleck's Daredevil movie. What Kevin Smith thinks about comic book movies means jack shit to me.
Daredevil 2003 was terrible but it's obvious Smith is playing the good buddy and having Affleck's back on this one. I'm sure deep down he knows it was bad. Plus at the time he was writing Daredevil comics. Can't really diss the product you're trying to push.

With that said I respect his opinion more than some random review.

Kevin Smith also thinks some fan film involving Batman vs Predator is the greatest depiction of Batman. I suppose that's changed now that he has a friend that plays Batman.
