Well that's the same thing sound cards in PCs have been doing forever. You're not gonna get 7.1 unless you have a 7.1 sound system. Marketing scheme or not, there is a absolutely huge difference in the sound processing you get from the in-line muxs via USB vs. a MixAmp or the wireless base that come with high-end headsets. That's all I was saying.

 

Some people liked the DSS. For me, that's where I drew the line of decent or not. The DSS was okay, but I don't think it was a good product. Most of TB's headsets include an in-line amp that's much worse than a DSS. If they even do promote surround sound, it's virtual. On their high end models, and also Astros they take an optical input and there's significantly less loss of information.

 

We're not necessarily about the headphones in this case. It's also the hardware that comes with it that matters. Yes it's all fake but taken in the context of headsets there is definitely a difference.
