Saw this on Slick Deals.

  • Go to Best Buy.
  • Buy this Card for $6.99. ( Net10 BYOP SIM Activation Kit)
  • Take this + the Gamer Card to the front and checkout.
  • Get a 2 year membership for $6.99.

No activation required.

Good Luck

Free is YMMV. I returned my phone for another phone and I got to keep my 2 years.

Verified by many members to work.

Yeah, I'm not sure how to change the title. It may be YMMV on the free part, but it's guaranteed for $15+Tax.

Yeah that's what i was thinking... $15 for the phone and $15 for the membership...

Either way I would rather pay $30 while I'm picking up COD tonight (OPs way seems grimey? Lol i recouped my $30 investment right away last time that I renewed my membership)

Not sure why you want to pay $15 more other than not going there twice today.

I wonder if it would work for an extension.  I just renewed mine last week when I picked up Sunset Overdrive.  While the method in the OP is shady, I actually need a cheap ATT phone, since I have to send my S5 in to Samsung to get fixed and can't be without a phone.  I just wonder if this phone uses the same size SIM as the S5.

I might just bite and not return the phone. $15 for a membership seems good enough and I could use the phone as a crummy mp3 player or something.

I haven't been following GCU for a while. Is it worth it?

Can't return the phone, or they'll dock whatever the cost is from the membership. Honestly, buying the phone for $15 and getting an extra 2 years for FREE rather than spending $30 with the purchase of a $40 game or even spending $100 outright makes it worth it. Can anyone verify from any other instances if GCU will extend on current sub's with recent purchases of said GCU?

Well buying two $60 games saves you $24 versus the $15 cost.

New release titles, sale titles...any new game is 20% off in addition to any other current promotional price. You get 10% off on Used games as well. Double points on video game purchases/trade ins, special coupon offers you can print out...I spent $30 at its inception to get 2 years. If I can get an extension from my Nov 2015 expiration (pending if anyone can verify this), then $15 is worth buying the phone and getting GCU added on. Best Buy is so desperate to get sales they will either PM another business or sweeten current releases with 20% off (and if you happen to get a title with a $10 GC on it, you get that too with the 20% off).

Dumbphones are whatever people call them usually use a normal Sim Card, The S5 uses a Micro Sim or nano sim so you cannot.

Actually, that's fine.  The S5 has a micro sim, and I have an an adapter so it can be used as a full-sized sim, so as long as the gophones don't use nano, it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think any of them are that advanced.

Im gonna wait and see if anyone gets this to work, and if they do, then I am going to give it a shot.  If it isn't some huge hassle with manager override and stuff, I am all in.

Looks like this is running without a hitch in that Slick Deals Thread.  Works automatically and easily.  Awesome!  I am doing this.  Here is the link to the Slick Deals ad.

the whole returning thing is what I hate about SD, like you really couldn't eat a $15 phone? it's a free membership that normally costs $130 holy shit.

Do you hate the people that return their PS4s to Walmart during the 100% bonus too?

if you want to get in on it, you better do it today. it is def going to get shut down, with the way SD abuses it.

Not surprised. SD people are ruthless for a couple of bucks. They will hoard, lie, cheat, and stop short of stealing to make profit.

Hmm, I just extended my membership with fantasy life last week for 2018. I don't know if I should do it again for 2020. Maybe for $15...

No issues here. It did require a manager override to drop the price of GCU down to $0.01 as it didn't come up automatically. But once the manager confirmed that the no contract go phones were eligible per the ad, it was good to go.

Worked for me in Chicago an hour ago without a problem -- grabbed the $15 Z222 GoPhone from the mobile dept and then went to the gaming dept to look for GCU

They didn't have any GCU cards hanging so the sales rep took me to the CS dept where they kept one GCU card that they scan for membership

The CS rep scanned the GCU membership first and it came up as $99.99 and then I asked her to add the phone to the same transaction -- she scanned the phone, the GCU became free automatically and I paid for the transaction ($17.xx w/ tax)

Logged into BB website then put my mouse over "Account" on top right and selected "View All Rewards" -- it shows:
