See, this is a security scenario why closed/paid membership would be good, in seconds it would have gone viral on reddit and his identity might be compromised, see?

It's not his identity. its a seven dollars membership and he'll probably make back hand folds over what it cost him w/reward points earn by exploiters. He can probably buy 3x sub with it.

Edit. Sorry not trying to target you. We just have conflicting interest

Ha it's ok dude :)

Thanks for the polite gesture

I don't mind disagreeing with someone like you because you don't make it personal,

it's just an exchange of different stances, and you often have substantiated positions

as opposed to cynical boys who just like to rag on someone cuz they can't use punter progz on aol anymore to exact revenge on the guys who bullied them and the girls who laughed

Taylor Swift got famous and popular doing that....credit to where it's due; she built a career on that, an astounding feat I half wish I could pull off. The people that mock me outnumber the people that mock her ten to one*! WOOO, I'm a terrible person!

*Well...that's how I feel

Maybe this is a scheme to get back video game sales from Amazon.

Or maybe they will just abort all free shipping for video games to make up for the costs.

Those $2.99 phones aren't available in my area (Los Angeles). Wonder if they just aren't carried in stores at all.

Thank you for being able to comprehend unlike the cynical morons who are exactly what you described ("people that are saying its a horrible idea are probably the people who should be skimmed out to begin with. It's pretty bad when a group of CAGs who are looking for things on the cheap to begin with think a member is beyond cheap!")

I love how quickly these dimwits, who by the way all share the same terrible sense of humor, are so quick to mock and shoot down any great idea they would never come up with if their money is involved ( dur hur hur yeah let's just like spend all the money we save on deals to group buy gay porn so we save hur hur , .... Ur so dumb omg)

It's like hmmm, spend $5/year for daily deals or spend nothing sharing openly so when you get to the store every non CAG already got the last copy

So keep thinking you have a valid argument , it's really opinion as you've offered no better solution to safeguarding the choicest deals, cuz u just sound stupid and prove your so cheap you don't deserve any deal shared with you

Cheapy should see these unappreciative "feed me feed me give me give me for free" unreciprocating cynical babies and suspend them until they pay $5 toll for inconsiderate d!chheaditis

The funniest part about all these posts is that the very first line of this thread is "Saw this on Slick Deals"  :D/ :D/ :D/

Does this work at BBY mobile stores? A mobile store is the only one in the area that has this phone.

Or another question would be could I return at an actual store and just rebuy it?

You should learn to read better.

The issue is not a membership fee.  This issue is doing anything that makes it harder to join and contribute on a site like this only results in less timely deals for everyone.

Sure it might protect one or 2 super choice deals, but at the cost of dozens of other great deals never making it onto the site, or being dead before we discover them, because you are limiting your outreach and the number of users available capable of discovering such deals.

Some of the best deals ever on this site in the last 8 years have come from newbie or brand new posters, and if you added a membership fee, those deals would simply have never made it onto the site.

It's the very definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face, and would do immense long-term damage in the hope of "protecting" deals that need no protection.

Instead of charging they should just close and block every account with a join date later than 2006

Would make this site MUCH better

Make it 2003.

This is a dumb idea.

New members have just as much to contribute as old.

And more members means more ability to find more deals in the wild, which helps everyone.

I'll restate what I said earlier.

Require membership, unpaid, to be able to click on threads.

Guests would be forced to become members, some of which would contribute, thus adding to the community. Boom.

The site used to be like this.  Cheapy changed it because it made no sense and did nothing to benefit the site.  He makes more money having guests able to click on threads, which helps the site.

Every guest who clicks and affiliate link contributes to this site.

Guests choose to become members to contribute now.  I'm not sure that any guests that wouldn't otherwise choose to become members would contribute just because they were made to.

They won't.  The only difference would be Cheapy would make less money from affiliate links, hurting the site.

There is a problem with your logic here.  You're assuming that all of those guests aren't actually members.  I only log in when I have something to say or contribute, so technically I would be one of those "guests" some of the time.  I'm sure the same goes for other CAGS.  Unless you're logged in all the time, it doesn't make sense to log in again just to check to see if anything interesting has been added to the conversion.  All this would do is add a minor inconvience for CAG members, and I don't think it would result in the desired outcome.

I understand what everyone is trying to say here, and there are positives and negatives to both sides.  I tend to agree with those who think the status quo is fine.  Any mega el hordo flipping deal destroying people would put in the effort to become members anyway, despite any safeguards put into place, ranging from the extreme (paid memberships/certain sign up dates) to simple (must be logged in).  I understand the desire to safeguard amazing deals for "true CAGs" who won't abuse it to the point of Best Buy and other retailers taking it away or ensuring that there won't be great deals like this in the future, but I haven't seen a viable solution yet, and I'm not sure there is one.
