Official Wii U GamePad High Capacity Battery back in stock @ Nintendo Store. $37

CAGiversary!
$32 + $5 shipping + tax (not sure if this is for everyone)

This is the 8 hour battery for the Wii U gamepad (vs the 3-5 hour standard). Nintendo offered this stateside for only a short time before pulling it months ago. Nintendo reps said they had pulled it for "lack of interest" in the states. Ha!

This was only avaliable from Japan through places like Play Asia. Amazon has occasionally had these through 3rd party sellers, but they've been around $60 and could be counterfeit. (Even the Nyko brand batteries had high failure rates and are now hard to find.)

I'll be quite happy now that my gamepad isn't dead halfway through a game session.

In for 1, and a $4 3DS charging cradle.

Glad they finally got the bigger battery back in stock!  I wonder if they end up releasing a larger one eventually?

I bought this a couple weeks ago. I can this is a huge improvement over the original battery. I took my wii u to a friends for some Mario Kart and we easily played 7 hours straight and the gamepad still had juice left.

It's been back since at least October 17th and had been missing since January I think prior to that. It's really amazing how they had all that extra space for a larger battery and didn't just include this to begin with.

Anyways, it isn't retail packaging, it will just come in a plastic bag like other things Nintendo sells through their online store. Amazon.co.uk also normally carries this and you could get it for around $5 more than buying it direct from Nintendo (which I was right on the verge of).

I have never played with the gamepad long enough for it to die while playing but still considering this. I do have a 2nd gamepad that i got off someone on Craigslist, though as of right now theres no use for a 2nd other than a backup in case the battery dies or the gamepad gets damaged

I bought mine from amazon UK for around $42.  The best I have gotten out of my battery is 6 hours and that is with no sound output from the game pad.  I'm quite disappointed to be honest with this.  Having said that, it did give me a few more hours per charge, I guess that's good?

I thought about getting one of these when they were first announced, but decided to get a USB cable instead. I have so many USB chargers for my phones lying around the house and most of the areas I sit while playing the WiiU are close to an outlet.

I also have several chargers for phones although I took it one step further and consolidated them all with a four port charger to mount on the side of my desk. This eliminates the unsightly cables scattered across the floor and I don't have to reach down and search for the right one and untangle them.

thanks for posting!  I already have mine, its worth every penny!   no need to charge, etc.   makes remote play more fun too and lasts longer!    the battery will make the gamepad weight every so slightly heavier in your hands, but its worth it for the longer life!

Jumped on this as soon as I saw the post. THANKS OP! Even sprung for the 2-day shipping to get it here just in time for MK8 DLC to drop tomorrow.

I never use the game pad so I cant justify this for me. Pro controller is just too good in comparison. This is good for the people that use remote play though.

I don't play my wii U often anymore, but I notice the battery really drops quickly even when I don't use it for let's say about a week. It is really crazy. I wonder if it still communicates with my Wii U, which is left plugged in with the red standby light on, and it slowly drains the battery?
