But what're the odds of the Walmart employees actually knowing about this and being able to do it hassle-free?

And what about those "other online retailers" the article mentions?

Dont shoot the messenger for wasting hours trying to get THIS to work.  Article here:

Theoretically they now PM their website, amazon, etc but good luck getting that to work with a CSM.  I like how it says store manager has the final say, like that guy is just hanging around up front ready to give a yay or nay on price matching.

It will be a nice thing if you can find a competent store however.

Good to know. Last time I tried to price match them with their online site they told me they don't compete with themselves and wouldn't do it.

Yeah, I remember a few times having them argue with me over clear ads, claiming there was a hidden catch, because why would the competition sell a game for 39.99

I've had nothing but headaches in the past getting things price matched at the WalMarts around here.
I'll just continue to go to Best Buy or Target.
Speaking of walmart, I wonder if savings catcher will work on black friday ads? I may be tempted to try.
I don't think electronics or video games are included in the savings catcher program.

Both of my local Walmarts have ALWAYS price-matched their online site.

I have never once been denied, though usually the cashier has to go and ask for approval and clarification from management.

Upon mentioning this in the past I discovered that most people have been flatly denied when trying to get a price changed so hopefully this makes things a bit easier for the rest of you.

To echo the sentiments of others, this is long overdue.

I remember price matching Sonic All-Stars for Wii U at WM in late 2012, clerk said they didn't do price matching without a print ad but was standing under a big sign that had the price match policy on it, saying you didn't need a print ad. I pointed it out, they felt one-upped, and subsequently price matched for me.

Good to know but silly they wouldn't "officially" at least match their own site before.

They always did it for me though because when they'd say no I'd just be like "ok I'll just order it online to pick up here then...I'll be back later".  Was even better after I got a smartphone since I'd just pull that out and be like "you know I can just order it online right now and then pick it up here right?...".  Used to do that at BB back when they wouldn't match their site too.

it states eligible for DVDs blu rays and other medias
On there website is says
Savings Catcher does not currently apply to:

Most general merchandise items, (including, but not limited to, electronics, CD and gaming media, toys (except Top 20 “Chosen by Kids” items), housewares, small appliances, sporting goods, home décor, bedding, books and magazines, shoes, jewelry, furniture and seasonal products).

I think most stores have something in their fine print that they don't PM BF prices/ads... but from what I remember last year, WM and Amazon pretty much matched all the good deals from each other and other stores.

I think it's ymmv depending on the cashier.

Just added to the OP the list of stores:

** Online retailers include, but are not limited to: Academy.com, Amazon.com, Autozone.com, Babiesrus.com, Basspro.com, Bedbathandbeyond.com, Bestbuy.com, Cabelas.com, Dickssportinggoods.com, Dollargeneral.com, Familydollar.com, Homedepot.com, Jcpenny.com, Kmart.com, Kohls.com, Lowes.com, Michaels.com, Newegg.com, Officedepot.com, Oreillyauto.com, Pepboys.com, Petco.com, Petsmart.com, Sears.com, SportsAuthority.com, Staples.com, Target.com, Tigerdirect.com, Toysrus.com, Walgreens.com, Walmart.com
I find two things about their updated policy interesting:

1. The list of "online retailers" says "include, but are not limited to"

2. It doesn't mention no in store PMs on Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Just no PMing WM.com purchases then.

This is nice but now that Amazon charges tax it's not a huge deal either way unless I want something in a hurry and don't feel like waiting 2 days for it from Amazon. Also it's nice to see they are finally price matching their own goddamn site for once. I've heard of different people doing it before but it's been their policy to never reflect or change their prices based on the site which they see as a different from the store.
