  • Trade 3 Get a $50 EB Gift Card
  • Trade 4 Get a $75 EB Gift Card
  • Trade 5 Get a $100 EB Gift Card
Offer ends January 4, 2015. Offer valid on PS4, XB1, XB360, PS3, PSV, WiiU, and 3DS games. Minimum $8 trade value required & can be a tiered promotion. Offer valid only toward games normally accepted in trade.
This deal is a few weeks old down, but I didn't see a thread for it (I could be blind).

EBgames is actually providing a list of eligible for their trade in promo this time around. There are some good values on the list, mostly 3DS games, like Nintendogs and old Harvest Moon titles. Probably not a mind blowing good value for most, but trade in promos are few and far between these days.

EBs the only one who has any decent trade in offers anymore honestly. Best Buy/Futureshop all require PS4/Xbox One games now. Even Microplay is meh.

Wow... funny to read that. I've been experiencing the exact opposite myself...

While this is a pretty neat promotion for cheaper titles (PvZ Garden Warfare for example) it's nowhere near Microplay for full priced ones. Even by returning 5 games you get $20 a piece, and I find most recent releases will get you at least $25 on their own at Microplay. A few weeks ago I asked EB Games how much they were giving me for my NBA Live 15 on PS4, and the guy said $19. Microplay gave me $31.50...

With that being said, I know that Microplay automatically lowers their trade-in value based on the store levels and not the global network levels, so it's possible that the Microplay next to you is not offering as much as some other locations...

I'm talking about their trade in system. I was told, that the game has to be in stock. Otherwise, they either hold onto the games for you, or you come back. And by then, the games will lose their values.

I prefer EB, because they allow you to trade in while the games are at a certain value, and put it towards your pre-order right away.

I do admit, that Microplay does have better values on games most of the time. I was able to get more for certain games thanks to them, compared to other retailers.

Hold onto the games you bring back and let them depreciate until they actually receive the game you want ? I've never never ever seen that at Microplay, and I've been shopping at quite a few locations...

Just out of curiosity, where is your local Microplay located ?

Laval, Quebec. I asked the guy there, and he said for their trade 3 get the game free deal. I had to either wait until the game was out, or leave them there for them to hold onto it.

I asked if I could just trade them in and put it towards the game, similar to EB. He said I couldn't.

I've been able to get $25-$30 from EB for newer titles recently, due to them adding an extra $5 for their Most Wanted.

This was a great deal since I got to trade in 4 games I will probably never play again for 75 bucks I can spend on boxing day. Now I just hope that the Vita will be on sale and I'll be golden.

rather surprised the 360 version of Diablo 3 is there (regular and Ultimate Evil).  Wasn't even valued at $8 when I wanted to trade it towards a new gen copy.  Same with GTA V.

Yep, we also traded in stuff like Nintendogs+Cats that we picked up for $5 years ago. Overall, it's a pretty decent list considering how bad some of their trade-in deals have been in the last few years. Those days when we had Blockbuster to lean on for trade-in fodder are long gone.

I wouldn't say all their deals were bad. They had some good deals. Now Best Buy and Futureshop on the other hand. They only take Ps4/XboxOne games in their deals now.

Well, it's all relative compared to ten years ago the trade in deals at EBgames are dreadful. But compared to the even more horrific Best Buy and Futureshop deals, they are 'okay'. I still trade in much more rarely than I once did, because the value is just not there.

Nah, I'd say their deals have been good this year. Especially their trade 2 get x game deals. Even with their trade 3 get x game, I was able to trade in games I got for cheap for something I wanted.

They're also one of the few stores with good values on Nintendo games, while Best Buy/Futureshop offered less for the same games. Even Microplay wasn't offering much.
