So i stopped past redbox tonight to rent a movie and though wow this movie is sort of heavy for a dvd. I get home  and open up the case and to find out there is a 2nd movie (not related to the first movie) in the same case. So i called up redbox and ask them how i should fix this (return it how i found it, rent a 2nd case and return it and get credit back) The worker on the phone goes

Keep the 2nd movie that was in the case and whoever messed up will be charged the full price for that movie

Thats right the company told me to rip off the other customer cause they made a mistake of putting two movies in one case. Dont know what sort of a fucked up company this is becoming but from now on im only using prepaid credit cards in these machines.

Just watch your bills if you rent from this  scaming company

What do you want them to do Slidecage, send the Redbox cops to your place to pick it up?
Like when i called them up told me to.

1. go rent a new case (it will charge 1.20 to the account but they will credit me back 2 tokens for 2 rentals)

2. put the 2nd movie in the new case and return it. Once that 2nd movie is scanned they will then be able to go back and credit the other renter with credit for charging them for every night the movie was not returned.

I have never dealt with a company before that tells its customers to go fuck over other customers like the person in chat did. told me to keep the movie and the person who rented the movie and returned both in 1 would be charged full price for the 2nd movie that was never return. That is just fucked up.

So go do that and be done with it. Why would you even bother asking them if you knew what to do? And what would have happened if no one ever rented that movie you rented that had the 2nd disc in it? They would have charged the guy.

point was i was not sure what to do, i did not know how returning that 2nd disc would get the first renter their cash back or if the machine would just take it back as an extra disc. Point is the company is telling people to screw over other customers

The guy didn't follow the rules when it comes to returning.  He would have been charged if no one else rented the movie.  He should have shelled out the 1.20 to save whatever they would have ended up charging him.

I don't rent with redbox, they charged me full price for a DVD I returned that they said wasn't showing up in their machines. I had to threaten legal action to get refunded. This was like 4 or 5 years ago I think? Have never dealt with them since.

I thought Redbox allows people to put DVD's in another case if they lose a case. I know with Netflix they allowed that and I swear Redbox does the same thing.

But I may be wrong.

I imagine this conversation was 15 minutes of the rep explaining how to return the disc and finally giving up and telling him to just keep it.

nope it went something like this

I rented the the expelled and when i opened up the case there was THE FLUFFY MOVIE UNDER IT.

worker goes you can keep the fluffy movie, and then the other 13 mins when on me asking them how do they think its fair that i should keep a movie i never rented . Worker never told me how to return it, in fact the first thing they told me was to KEEP IT

I'm curious whatthe fuck you're talking about with "rent a second case". Do they have empty cases now? Otherwise, wouldn't you be putting two movies in one case, which is the existing problem?

Shows how long it's been for me then! How widespread of a problem is this? You rent the movies for a fuckin day, how do so many people lose the case?
many redbox cases are pure trash. I rented a few movies where the boxes were falling apart. I just shove the movie back into the machine go home and report it and they credit me the movie. not risking breaking the case and being forced to buy another case
