Need advice/opinions on a TV

Hey everyone, i'm looking at getting a new stand to maximize space, and figure i'd get a new TV (I refuse to mount an old TV to a stand, and shit happens so gotta un-mount and re-mount).........so i'm giving my current 32" To my mom

Right now i'm looking at spending $500 but could go a little more than that if i see on that's awesome enough. The maximum size i'd like is a 42" 

I do gaming on the PS4 and Xbox one. Ideally would like one with 3 HDMI ports; or if i have to, buy a switch thingie. I also watch a lot of movies and watch TV.

That should work, as it's a reasonable low-to-mid-range set.

There may be some other options out there as we go through the football playoff season and have some sales at retail, plus retailers trying to dump some 2014 sets as we get to 2015 sets being released.

Probably similar options from LG, Samsung, Toshiba, Sony and the like as well in that price range.  Vizio as well.

Yeah, it's one reason i'm holding off for about a week or so because I know the sales are coming. I have a Vizio, and; i do like it. 

I know you said that 42" is as much as you'd like, though this is a 50" Vizio for $500, on sale at Best Buy:

1 more HDMI input, better refresh rate, full-array LED backlighting (brighter picture)

Given the Sharp above as well as this Vizio, I'd probably go to the Vizio for the difference.
