Thanks for this! I have some psp version from way back on my vita. It was a free plus game years ago but everyone said the controls are so bad it subtracts from the experience.

I honestly never thought the PSP claw hand controls were actually any less effective than the more typical right stick camera control on most other systems, though I'll grant that it seems to have been uncomfortable for a lot of players.

It's just that the PSP is too small to hold comfortably, and they made it even smaller with the Go. Nintendo went larger with the 3DS XL, and it's slightly easier to hold, but my left hand still cramps holding it and using the joystick.

I personally also never understood the complaints against the PSP's lack of a second analog. Certain games, like Syphon Filter, devised some clever control schemes to get around the limitation and it worked fairly well imo.

Actually it worked really well, I was rather surprised at the time how much I enjoyed SF. It was still a learning curve there, but once used for awhile, it did work fairly well. The one analog stick was utter trash on the PSP IMO. As the movement it allowed, and the force required to move it, places it near the bottom of any analog stick I've ever used. Better than nothing, but far from ideal. So while I would have preferred a second one, the first wasn't that great anyways, so I made what was there work.

Maybe only the N3DS camera nipple is worse, as that is really only good for "camera" usage, and not much else.

When did Best Buy start offering discounts for in-store pickup? Got a dollar off. Don't even have GCU and it was $2.11 after tax.

Like a few weeks ago, and if you have GCU the price is reduced to $1.39 (depends on the tax), INSANE.

It's actually been going on for a bit longer than that.  First time I remember getting the $1 in store discount was back in May.  The trick for getting it is you have to select shipping when you checkout and during the checkout process it will eventually (but not always) offer a dollar discount to switch from shipping to in store pickup.

I don't have GCU, but that's pretty cool of them to offer. I would guess if it's not offered 100% of the time, it has to do with them saving funds on shipping, and in turn, gives the customer a break as well.

I have an Amazon center in town, but even if they offered the $1, I doubt I would bother, but it probably would help in regards to damages. I get bubble mailed items all the time that they deliver directly, and almost every time stuff arrives OK. If the same stuff came the same way by UPS or USPS, it would be damaged almost every time, go figure uh?

Dragon quest 8 is 20/16GCU at BB, and 20 at Amazon. Tempting.

This discussion has been going on in the TRU clearance thread for about a week now and I'm surprised it hasn't made it to this thread yet, but several 3DS games are maybe available at pretty decent prices:

DQ7 --> $11.98

DQ8 --> $13.98

Bravely Second --> $11.98

Fire Emblem Fates Birthright --> $11.98

Fire Emblem Fates Conquest --> $11.98

ETC

River City: Rival Showdown (with keychain) - $22.03 (and fluctuating) on Amazon:

FYI, many of the other major retailers don't seem to be carrying this.

Thanks for the heads up, this looked a little too similar to Tokyo rumble from last year but if the price drops a little more I think I will bite

Dragon Ball Fusions usual price at Target was like $24 or $29 at gamestop. Most Targets not have it down to either $14.98 or $20.98

https://brickseek.co...sku=207-02-0226

Reviews seem to say its a good game.

I feel like a lot of stores are trying to unload their copies of Dragon Quest 7 and 8. I've seen it clearanced at Toys R Us and Target and now Best Buy too. Maybe it's been out too long.

Yeah, DQ8 was one of the last games I played on PS2. It's a long ass game with antiquated saving, which is less ideal than the save-anywhere style of Pokemon when it comes to mobile gaming.

Picked up DQ7 but skipped DQ8 since I already have the PS2 which I hear is the superior version if you care about the fantastic orchestral sound that didn't get ported to the 3DS version.  But if you don't care about that, I hear the 3DS has 2 extra playable characters, extra content and less annoying gameplay.

Yeah, that's the one great addition most portable re-released games get. As having poor saving options is hell for a handheld, especially when game times are often rather limited.

Bestbuy has Monster Hunter Generations on clearance for anyone that’s interested.

$14.99 ($11.99 GCU)
https://www.bestbuy....p?skuId=5075600

I know everyone is playing the new game, but I thought it was still worth a post. I’m pretty sure this is the cheapest it’s ever been.

This was actually delisted and removed from the BB site for a while.  It's back now though - wonder if Capcom supplied more when they released the new Monster Hunter World game.

CamelCamelCamel is showing a drop to $14.85 on Amazon back in October, but it's delisted there now.
