Anything's better than that turd of a theme song they saddled Enterprise with.

Last night the bros played:

Genital Jousting:  An early access game that is stupid fun in it's ridiculousness, but clearly abandoned at this point.  I only say this because we played it for over an hour and would have played more, but both of the mini games involved sports (or balls) would make the game crash or freeze or just fall out of sync in the worst way and we'd either have to wait the game out, which sometimes took minutes, or force quit the game.  It really sucked, considering I would have kept playing it were it not for that.

Mount Your Friends:  We switched to Mount Your Friends, which is always fun, but more so when you have a first time player, which we did in Syntax.  Watching Syntax learn to play was great fun.  Almost as fun as watching Georgebot fly across the screen when I trolled him and told him to press A which was his last remaining grip on the pile of man body he was hanging on.  Georgebot then went on to do it by himself, no trolling needed, and Syntax eventually won his first game.

Overall, broiest night ever.

The first time I attempted to mount my friends, I was hesitant and confused, not knowing what to place where and leading to embarrassing performance.  By the third time, I was mounting my friends with great enthusiasm and vigor and lay victorious over a heap of bodies.  Also, there was a goat.

I would love to get mounted by Spo-Fox bros or even play genitals as well. Too bad my timezone doesn't help me :(

I don't know how many people here are Trekkies, but I just saw this and thought it was awesome.

The Beastie Boys scene from Star Trek Beyond but with Enterprise's theme song.

If by awesome, you mean awesome in it's (Enterprise's Dawson's Creek theme song) turribleness...I agree.

A 53 minute review for anyone thinking about picking up Destiny 2...  (Also worth a watch for anyone who just wants to see an amazingly well put together review also.)

I surprisingly watched it all, with no horse in the race (aka Its a series I care nothing about as Bungie nor Activision has given me any reason too so), and found it to be really interesting...

I know Angry Joe's review for it is 43 minutes long and I don't see myself ever watching it...  Not cause I don't find his opinion valid or interesting but his elaborate skits that he has to spend so much time doing anymore just seems like a waste of time to me. (But Skill-Up talking about how loot works in a modern looter I find fascinating...  He's just got a really unique way of looking at things.)

Fortnite's Battle Royale mode will be free to play starting next week (on 09/26), it looks way too much cartoony for my taste but the building aspect might be cool.

If the investigative journalism of Green Man Gaming is to be believed, the PUBG folks aren't happy about this and claim that the game "may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known" which is sort of amusing since PUBG's premise isn't exactly original.

But if someone was giving away the core game play that I was charging $30 for, I might make noise as well.

I'm intrigued by the idea of game review videos that don't rely on people yelling, using funny voices, pretending that it's an SNL skit or otherwise trying to set themselves apart based on performance rather than opinion and ideas.  :-k

I think -- and this is outside my area of expertise* -- that the dev for PUBG was involved in the Arma mods and knock-offs in some way so there was some connection there.

*I have no idea what my area of expertise may be but it ain't this

Good to know your taste isn't just terrible. I was watching it thinking "he likes this?"

My taste is terrible though.

I like Dominos pizza.

I like poopies beep boop music bundles.

I like Stargate Universe.

I like Enterprise.

I actually like Faith of the Heart and I feel it matches the visuals presented in the Enterprise intro well; the feeling of exploration, discovery, and adventure.

However I don't like it as a "Star Trek theme".  Archer's Theme from the outro, coupled with standard space imagery like TNG/DS9/VOY, would've made a much better "Star Trek theme".

"may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known"

So...

Selling crates and clothes to losers for gabenbucks?

Yeah, that's my understanding as well.  "Playerunknown" is the pseudonym of the guy that made the original Arma mod.

That review is 53 minutes too long for me.

Maybe this will help.  (still too long, I know)

I rescind my whole-hearted recommendation of Destiny 2.  I'm not sure the guys in here will like it all that much.   The campaign is good, the music is excellent, all-in-all it's a competent game.   But it's very much a continuation of Destiny 1.  It's the same gameplay motions.  And there is a severe lack of content once you put a few dozen hours into the game.  Once you get past the first 20-30 hours there is a lot of repetition as well as barriers to your power level progression.  There is really not much of an endgame besides grinding levels.

I enjoy it, as do many other Destiny lovers.   But there are many valid complaints from the faithful.  The overarching issue is this game suffers from large chunks of content being completely carved out from the game to be saved for a future date.   This whole cabal theme and raid were supposed to be the last major expansion of Destiny 1, and now they've done it again.  There's not much beyond this content.  It takes so many manpower hours to program this game that Bungie is primarily concerned with the drip-feed of new content.   Players plow through the game at unfathomable rates that Bungie can't release everything at once.  However, one thing a lot of non-players probably don't understand is that they do release a ton of free updates.

The strikes (15-20minute 3man dungeons) are excellent this time around but there isn't much incentive to do them.  The crucible (mutiplayer pvp) only has two game modes and you can only queue for a random selection.  This after Destiny 1 had like six crucible modes you could queue for, individually.  The other big gripe is that they took away the "unique rolls" for all of the legendary (purple) guns.  So instead of having three columns of random stats and perks, each gun with the same name is identical now.   But this time you don't have to level up your guns at all; all of a gun's abilities are unlocked from the start.  Many players have earned 60-80% of the guns offered in the game already.  There is no longer the hunt to find that perfectly rolled gun; it has been removed from the game.  The graphics on the current sets of armor are also very lackluster, which is probably intentional.

Casual gamers that don't mind paying 60 bucks for 40-50 hours of entertainment will have a fantastic experience.  It's a very well-produced AAA game.  But everything is so properly streamlined now that they have taken away from some of those draconian nuances that made the original game both unfair as well as highly enticing, if that makes any sense.  Starting with this week I can guarantee you that concurrent player numbers are going to be down massively as people move on to other games temporarily.  Bungie needs to address things immediately and start adding new content and equipment.

Two weeks in and a lot of lifers are already bored and pissed off.

Pretty much, that's exactly what it is.   If you want to do AAA gaming for a couple hours a few nights a week, Destiny 2 is a godsend.   It's perfect.  A couple of my casual friends are loving it.  It's the poopsockers that are in no-content hell.

So I was randomly looking at games on Steam and noticed I don't own Costume Quest. How did I manage to miss the 5 times it was in a bundle? Not owning every Double Fine game in 2017. I'm such a scrub.

Thanks for the write-up.  A few hours of the Destiny 2 beta had me leaning towards a pre-order, but watching a few more hours of the console release and i'm already losing my enthusiasm.  Honestly, right now I feel like i'd have more fun just going back to The Division.

While we're on the subject of games and grinds, NBA 2K18 is out.  Some nerds at Operationsports crunched the numbers and determined it will take approximately 240 games played to get your solo player career overall stats to 86 based on per game Virtual Currency payouts and how much everything costs.  This is about two to three times as long of a grind as was in 2K17.  Realists can argue that perhaps this is a closer simulation to how long it would take an actual NBA player to become a star, but we're talking 100-150 hours of gameplay to get that far.

I didn't play as much of 2K17 as previous years due to the frustrating teammate/opponent AI, this year I think i'm just going to skip it and get my sports fix from PES or FIFA.

This is the part I just don't understand...  Your cutting your carrot in half (hell, maybe even cubed bite sized chunks) if every "proton blaster" is the same.  Frankly, it takes the loot out of a looter.  Frankly, this loot system is nearly identical to Ghost Recon Wildlands...  That on its face should be an asinine argument.  No open world squad shooter should be able to say its loot system is just as good as a game thats designed around loot but in Wildlands you go to a near area and find the weapon boxes open it up and pull out your shinny new AK47.  In that game you never find a better AK47 while in Destiny, yeah, you got to wait for it to drop but once you get it...  You're done. You'll never find a better one.

I can only assume they did this in an effort to balance the PvP, which I can understand, but how Massive (The Division) can stumble around on a better solution with normalize gear (All gear in Last Stand, Skirmish has its maxed rating (armor, crit chance, damage, etc) which means it comes down to your character build and skill....  And not the random numbers on your gear.

Anyhow, I think Destiny 2 is going to be an easy pass till a sale and some of the DLC has come to pass for me.

Pretty much the same although FIFA was a guaranteed buy for me for the most part, the career mode update and the demo's gameplay sold it for me. PES is much improved just for the fact they ported the PS4 version instead of the last generation like they have the past couple of years, but Im still not sold, may try the demo.

As for 2K18, Fuck that. 2K17 annoyed me to no end. Not touching 2K18 until it inevitably hits the Humble in the post-season or they drop this grindy P2W nonsense.
