Games for my specs?

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU M620 @ 2.67GHz 2.67 GHz

RAM: 4 GB

64 bit

I've been playing Civ 5 with decent graphics but from the graphics I see others playing the game on YouTube it looks like I can't run the game with max settings. It'd probably get laggy.

Btw I know nothing about computers really, I'd make a full fledged switch from my PS3 if my PC was good enough. Went ahead and bought CS GO off Steam because I was pretty sure my computer could run it.

Anyways I like turn based rpg's somewhat, I don't like the small retro looking ones though $ . Stealth and fighting games are my favorite along RTS and online shooters. Sports and driving games are my least favorite for the most part.

Any ideas?

What GPU? Hopefully not just the integrated HD Graphics. I'm not big on mobile processors.

That's an old laptop, it's maybe 4 or 5 years old?. You're not going to be able to run anything with sliders up unless you're playing 5+ year old titles.

If you want to get into PC games, build yourself a desktop. There's lots of threads around here on that, it's easy to do.

Yeah it was an early Christmas present from my family. Believe it or not it's better than the old laptop I had for 4 years lol. I'll look into the building a desktop but my budget is on the low side.

Well, if that's what you've got, it's not a big deal, you're just going to have to play sliders down on most titles. Even older stuff. Don't fool yourself into thinking that there's some magic configuration that will allow you to play new release, Tier 1 titles with crazy graphics.

I'm assuming you've found your way to Steam. If not, download it. Steam will help you find a lot of good, small titles, most of which won't tax you in terms of performance. If you're willing to be patient, you can get a lot of good, quality games on Steam for next to nothing. Look for sales.

If you can get into the habit of looking past graphics, you should be able to find a lot of games to enjoy, especially for RPGs. If you can't get past graphics, though, you're not going to have much fun with that laptop unless you're okay with playing older titles.

Unlike most - I think those specs are fine - It all depends on what you want to play.

You can use this site to help find out if games that you want (and the the site has listed) will run on your setup.

STEAM does this. GoG does this and many others. You can use that as you go along.

Yeah, you're right, megaz. I suppose I was going off the first post, which gave the impression that OP wanted to play something near the latest and greatest (i.e. testing out Civ 5 and CSGO). In which case that laptop is going to have a really difficult time of things.
