Unleashed really isn't that bad a game. Its only real issue is the Werehog and how it makes part of the game a brawler, which is not what people want from a Sonic game. (Well, that and the forced medal collecting.) Story- and style-wise, I think it's better than any of the other console games that came out after Sonic Adventure 2.

Of course someone ported (most of) the day levels into Sonic Generations on PC though, so... yeah.

Unfortunately, the Werehog levels are like 85% of the game. Honestly, I still don't know what Sonic Team was smoking when that seemed like a good idea. Although, by that logic Sonic Team is almost always drugged up on something.

I remember this game. This is the game that gave every Sonic fan in the world a woody when the E3 trailer came out. It's also the game that killed a record amount of woodys during the 2nd half of that same E3 trailer.

Massive potential this game had. The day stages were some of the most fun gameplay I ever had playing a Sonic game. Soundtrack was awesome too.

I always thought the difference between awesome Sonic games and the shitty ones was like night and day. Obviously Sega agrees.

You can get both excellent games for half the price of some overrated "AAA" game. What's the problem?

 
Sonic Unleashed wasn't a bad game. Just, as mentioned earlier, not what a Sonic game should have been. honestly, if the brawler part wasn't branded sonic, people probably would've loved it.

I thoroughly enjoyed both games. The brand of fast-paced mech action they offer is pretty unique. The controls provide a lot of flexibility with regard to flying around but some may find them slightly cumbersome.They're both fairly short, especially the first (I think it clocks in at around 4-5 hours for a typical playthrough). I haven't played either in years but I think they'd hold up pretty well, especially in HD.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think these HD collections typically stray too far below the $10 mark, so I doubt it'll drop much more. In fact, it looks like several of the ones that were on sale last night have already gone back up in price.

EDIT: Long story short, yes.

Just double standards I guess. Sonic Boom also has brawling and people love that.

 
Wasn't it fun when Sega told everyone they were taking the low-rated Sonic games off store shelves in an effort to preserve the integrity of the series? Boy, that lasted almost fifteen minutes.
