I don't listen to the podcast, but just wanted to say the site looks good and I dig the changes. Keep doing what you're doing, John & Cheapy.

Windows 10 press event:

1. You guys didn't even mention that all Windows users that have 7 or higher will get Windows 10 for free if they upgrade within the first year. Including DirectX 12 which squeezes more performance out of the hardware you already have.

2. They won't stream PC to Xbox One. One way gets you to play Xbox games. The other bypasses MS to play Steam games on their console. I think this feature is pretty neat. Mirrors the best feature of the Wii U. If someone wants to watch TV you can continue your game on your PC or tablet. Not just Surface, any tablet or laptop running Windows 10.

3. HoloLens is not only really coming out, it's this year. They specifically said HoloLens will come out around the Windows 10 launch timeframe.

4. Admit it. If HoloLens was announced by Apple, Cheapy and Shipwreck would be declaring it the greatest thing of the 21st century.

My back hurts and my don't have an ass wash... WAAAAHHHHH

The Bitter JewCast strikes again. Can't wait for next week when Cheapy and Wombat talk about more reasons for not playing games.

This show used to be good. Now it's just two bitter assholes complaining about life. The bitterness is starting to rub off on Shipwreck and that sucks.

Something tells me the "Super Mario Series" Amiibo are going to relegated to Wal-Mart Clearence aisles a few months after launch if Nintendo doesn't do their due diligence in tracking interest in these things.

The Smash Bros Series amiibo are popular because Smash is a game about figures coming to life and fighting. Mario on the other hand...they might as well just be those "World of Nintendo" toys that never seem to go out of stock in Target and Toys 'R Us that have Mario and Luigi. With the exception of Toad, they're ALL duplicates from what we already got with the Smash series! Was there a single person when the Mario series was announced that was genuinely excited?

etc, etc
I don't know, I think most of us think Cheapy's poop discussions are amusing yet interesting at the same time. I always like how the guys randomly talk about their personal life. Makes us feel like we know them when in reality every CAGCast listener is a stalker to Cheapy & gang. And it shows because the CAGBag usually has a few questions about how a situation was resolved or what is being done thanks to listener's suggestion or feedback.

I highly doubt this. These are the traditional style Mario figures rather than the Smash Bros. style that not as many people are used to. I think with the current trend of amiibos, resellers will probably buy a bunch, but I guess we'll see how it all goes. Nintendo is slow to catch on to trends but since they claim Marth will come back eventually, maybe we'll see Nintendo stock these things better by the time Mario Party comes out.

I think I have to agree with Shipwreck on the whole Amiibo thing again. I was at MAGFest last weekend and the Video Games New York guys had a bunch of Japanese amiibo's just to cash in on the shortage. I'm still only buying the ones I like. As for the site, I think the front page looks great but I didn't think the forum needed to change. I got a little attached and kind of wish we had a toggle to switch forum layouts. And if you do already, forgive me. But either way, I'll get used to it. Eventually. :p

I personally like the occasional personal banter. That's what separates CAGcast from most other gaming Podcasts. "Official" podcasts seem to only want to/are contractually mandated to only talk about their brand. Most other gaming website podcasts have tried to stay "clean" so they can appeal to younger listeners or don't get too critical so they don't piss off their sponsors. Not CAGcast, and I appreciate it.

As for Amiibo, Nintendo has really put me in a difficult spot. I have an in-box North American Villager I got for Christmas that I want to open, but I am hesitant because it seems like Nintendo refuses to talk about restocking/shortages (except for Marth). If I had some assurance more were on the way, I'd consider opening him. I don't honestly plan on selling him...but...if Nintendo says they're never restocking him, you can bet your ass I'm selling that guy for as much as I can get. That doesn't make me a scalper, that means I'd kick myself if they announce that RIGHT before I open him.

I don't think Nintendo has learned anything. I think Nintendo of America still has no idea how to operate in North America (especially the U.S.). You see store shelves in Europe and Japan PACKED with amiibo, but North America is getting these crappy disjointed waves where half the shipment comes in January and half in February. My opinion is they're going to make the SAME mistake they're making with the common Smash amiibo: continue to send buttloads of Mario, Peach and Yoshi to stores when they can't even sell through the Smash Series Mario characters they already have.

Wow man you have some issues. Not cool at all making fun of their religion. Thats just wrong

Wombat, did you notice the last minute reshoots in TMNT to make Shredder Asian? If you know it, you can see that William Fichtner was originally supposed to be Shredder

I'm no longer in the spot where I have to sell stuff, but I know what you mean. I got two Marth's, a Captain Falcon, and a villager in box. I never had any intentions to sell them, but I might just keep them for display purposes at this point. I might actually take out 1 Marth for Code Name Steam though. I don't care if he's rare or not. :p

And while Nintendo,in general, takes a bit too long to notice marketing trends, I think NoA controls the stock of amiibos to the point that they are even more desirable to hardcore consumers. Call it a conspiracy, but I really think that NoA is very aware of the shortage because it is likely intentional. I mean the shoutout to Marth in the Nintendo Direct acknowledges that they know Marth is a rare figure while they probably have thousands of them sitting in Redmond.

Wombat, surely your carpet-selling family knows a guy who knows a guy who can hook CheapyD up with a bigger toilet. There are elevated toilet seats and there are those with a bigger hole, but CheapyD really needs a new toilet because who knows how long he can live like this.

Interesting. I may need to investigate.
If you do investigate, let us know what you think. Years of listening to you praise the bidet in Japan has made me very interested in getting one and I had no idea this Joy Bidet for $25 existed, it seems too good to be true.

I am loving Dying Light so far by the way. I hope to hear some more about the gangs thoughts next week, if you all are playing on the PS4 you should get together and play some co-op if time allows it. I'd like to hear about Wombat being bad at the game and causing Cheapy and Shipwreck to get mauled by zombies trying to rescue him.

I want to thank Wombat for his insight into why the Joystiq is closing. I was a big fan of the site for a while.  It used to be my go to site for gaming news.  You guys do not get enough credit for how well you break down the business aspects of the game industry.

You sound a lot more bitter than they do.

I've never heard anything about Sony giving out free movies on PSN, so I don't know how that didn't become a big thing compared to the 10% thing or other things like that.

It's interesting to hear you guys praise the speaker in the DualShock 4 after the general distaste for the Wii Remote and its tiny speaker. I loved how Transistor used it and that it made it easier to know when Shadow of Mordor was done loading.

The Amiibo/Skylanders implementation that you guys were talking about is exactly how it should've interacted with games like Mario Kart 8, Mario Party 10, and Nintendo's other games like that. While setting up the race, you could put your Amiibo on the controller to choose him/her/it with your special gear and such to make it your own. Give up on the notion that those sorts of games should only offer a small, Mario-focused lineup and completely capitalize on all of the Nintendo IPs their figures can cover to expand those games by quite a bit. The data they store on the Amiibo itself shouldn't be proprietary to each game, but more general so that the game can interpret that data in its own way to reward you for continuing to use it and level it up. The way that they're actually doing it is just exploitative without offering the user more of a feeling that they could buy any of those figures and have plenty of use for it.

Dear CAG Crew,

Respectfully I think you missed the mark on the Windows 10 announcement.  On top of it being a free upgrade for all Win 7 and 8/8.1 users it will allow you to stream Xbox to ALL devices running Windows 10, consider these implications before writing it off:

 - Windows Surface / Tablet users will get Windows 10 which will turn it into an NVidia Shield-like device.  I can plug an Xbone controller into my Windows tablet and game remotely over Wifi much like an NVidia Shield.  This is an awesome feature to have.

 - If my living room TV is in use I have the option to game on my Office PC which again is a nice feature to have with the same experieince as my Win tablet.

 - The WiiU and even Sony Remote Play are examples of console streaming and to my knowledge both were well received features.

I realize no one in the CAG crew may have a Win tablet and I can understand not being interested in Xbone streaming personally but hopefully this gives you an understanding of why this would be a good thing for gamers.
