Best Gaming Headset for the Xbox One?

I am in the market for a good gaming headset for my Xbox One. I've been looking at some of the wireless Turtle Beach headsets, but $230 is more than I want to spend on a gaming headset. I really like my Gold Wireless headset for the PS4 and would like to get something similar for the Xbox One at around the same $100 price mark.

Any suggestions?

I splurged last year (almost to the day today) and bought the Astro A50 wireless headset (refurbished by Astro) on Amazon for $199 .. easily the best headset I've ever owned. I also own the Sony Gold Wireless headset for the PS4. The Sony Golds are good on the PS4 but seem slightly more 'average' to me on everything else (XB1, PC), especially compared to the A50.

Keep in mind regardless of the headset you buy, you will need to buy the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter (unless you buy the XB1 stereo headset, which comes with the adapter).

My friend also uses the Sony Golds on his XB1. The mic isn't the greatest, but he doesn't mind it.

I use the pulse Ultra Sony wireless set seem to work well as Hydro said though regardless you have to buy the Adapter.

So if I buy the adapter would that allow me to use my Gold Sony Wireless headset with my Xbox One? If that is the case that would be awesome. I don't need anything real fancy, but if I am going spend $100 for a headset I want it to be of high quality.

I've read some mixed reviews on the Astro headsets and it seems like most people prefer the Turtle Beach, which I have used in the past and liked quite a bit.

If you have the PlayStation Gold Headset just buy the adapter instead of another headset. No reason to buy an $80+ headset when you could just get the $25 adapter instead.

That being said if you definitely just want a separate headset I'd recommend the Microsoft Stereo Headset. For $50 they're a damn good deal for the quality of the headset and since they include the $25 adapter it feels like a bargain.

Yep Adapter will work make sure you have a cord though to connect it to the controller. That is about the only thing you need. Make sure you have the headset turned on when you update your controller *plug it into the controller* and that should give you access to using the mic. I had a hard time finding one locally so you might want to order it or check if you have one a Meijer (where I got mine)

Yeah, I have almost bought that headset a few times now. I was unsure of the quality, but it sounds like it is on par with the Sony branded stereo headsets. I've got $20 in rewards at Best Buy now so I may just have to pick this up and then I'll also have the adapter and will be able to use both this headset and my Sony one. Thanks for the input!

As a heads up, I would wait on the expensive headset. Turtle Beach is starting to tap into the wireless headsets for xbox one. By this I mean that Microsoft one consoles are built to allow wireless chat and virtually uncompressed audio via wireless, BUT the current wireless headsets work slightly differently. Turtle Beach works closely (read throws money at) Microsoft and hence tapped the tech first.

Basically just wait for more companies to start toying with Microsoft's wireless tech to create better headsets.

Or you can get a astro amp then buy a good headset like audiotronics, seinheisser etc. These are really superior to almost all headsets in sound quality.

If you want a headset for FPS then an Astro 40 would probably be one of the best. Sound quality is good but doesn't match a good headset from a industry leader like the above. But what Astro did great is creating a headset that distinguished usual FPS sounds (footsteps, audio clues, gun clicks etc). IE Bass boosted, mid range distinction etc. To do this they sacrifice some audio quality.

I use the PS Golds for basically everything.  I bought an Xbox One Stereo Headset on discount.  Made it around $40.  The adapter is $25 MSRP, so it was nice having a second headset for a low price, and it was quality.

I got the MS stereo headset at Sears for I think $15 before Christmas, and I'm impressed with them.  Not surround, but the build quality is good and they don't require batteries.

I have only had bad experiences with Turtle Beach's, but that may just be unlucky. If you are going to spend that much on a headset you might as well look for a deal on Astros. That said, the quality between an Astro at $300 and PSGolds at $100 (MSRP, obviously you would be dumb to not wait for a deal) is not nearly worth it, unless money isn't an object.

But this is CAG after all...

I can't post links yet cuz i'm a forum noob, but google "use ps4 headset on xbox one". The second article should be "PS4 Gold Wireless Headset Will Work With Xbox One". The article should make you happy go lucky. :D

Cheers!
