Year-to-Year Saves
(PS4, PS3, VITA)
Users who purchased MLB 14 The Show will be able to continue their Franchise and Road to the Show progress in MLB 15 The Show with the Year-to-Year Saves feature. Saves between the two releases will be forward-compatible, meaning you don’t have to worry about starting your Franchise or Road to The Show seasons over!

  • Advanced AI logic results in outfielders taking more realistic routes to the ball
  • Upgraded motion system allows for dynamic speed matching from run to catch to throw
  • User controlled cut offs
  • All new slide and tag system
  • New speed paradigm for fielders and base runners
  • Enhanced ball physics for pop ups, fly balls, and shots into the gap
  • Dynamic pitch breaks: Allows for more realistic pitch recognition when batting
  • Simplified Analog swing controls
  • Dynamic Difficulty 2.0
  • New situational base covering intelligence allows for new animations to play when a player has time or is in a hurry to get to his base.
  • More than 70 new situational third out fielding animations
  • New Input Type option for hitting
  • We’ve separated swing input as a separate option
Licensed Equipment
(PS4 & PS3 Only)
For the first time ever MLB The Show will include licensed equipment from some of the most recognizable brands in baseball. Earn as you play to enhance your RTTS or Diamond Dynasty players and partner with iconic brands by bringing sponsorships to your Franchise team! (Equipment on PS3 version is not seen during gameplay.)

Universal Rewards
(PS4 & PS3 Only)
In the last couple years we added the Universal Profile, which tracks your playstyle tendencies and passively rewards you with XP and Stubs while you play. This year, in addition to XP and Stubs, you will earn new Items usable throughout different game modes:

  • Virtual Baseball cards to be collected and easily assembled into a competitive Diamond Dynasty team
  • Licensed Bats, Gloves, Batting Gloves, and Cleats that enhance your Road to the Show or Diamond Dynasty player’s ability
  • Brand Sponsorships for your Franchise team that spice up your in-game interface and earn your team some extra income
  • Collect entire teams to unlock iconic MLB alumni players from each MLB team
Graphical Improvements
(PS4 Only)

  • Real-time seasonal sun and shadows
  • Player Skin tone realism. More variations of skin tones with gloss and specular improvements
  • Revamped Night lighting
  • More accurate and photorealistic rendering system
  • PS4 gets 10 more Minor League stadiums
Directional Hitting Interface
(PS3, PS4, VITA)
Featured for the first time in MLB 15 The Show is the new Directional Hitting interface, which allows you to influence the direction of your hits in real-time while you swing. Using the L-Stick, you can attempt to influence fly balls, ground balls, pushed hits, pulled hits, or any of those in combination. The most success will be had by swinging at pitches that are conducive to the hit direction you are aiming for. Outside pitches are better for hitting to the opposite field, while inside pitches are best for pulling. If no direction is pressed with the L-Stick, it’s just like using the old Timing Hitting interface. Like never before, Directional Hitting allows you to play into each hitter’s strengths and utilize the strategies of proper situational hitting.

Franchise Mode Refresh
(PS4, PS3, VITA)
With the addition of General Manager Contracts, you now have to consider Ownership Expectations when running your team, and your performance will determine the job offers that come your way. Building a championship-caliber team is more fun and dynamic than ever before, with the new Performance-based Player Progression, as well as much improved Trade and Contract logic. Partner up with Brand Sponsors, giving your broadcast elements an official sponsor and earn some extra dough to spend on your team.

Players and teams get Personality: Aesthetics and Emotion
(PS4 & PS3 Only)
Players on the field get improvements to show their individuality. (Necklaces, Tilted caps, etc..) Real-time situational/emotional AI scenes (dugouts, crowd, etc..) have also been added, and more Team and Player celebrations.

“Inside The Show” News Suite
(PS4, partial PS3)
Franchise, RTTS, and Season modes all feature a new suite of features centered on providing news updates from around the league. Inside The Show is a new radio broadcast that will be heard at the beginning of each new day and will discuss recent scores, notable performances, team news, milestones, records, standings, and more.

Diamond Dynasty Distilled
(PS4 & PS3 Only)
Diamond Dynasty is melted down to its core. Now driven by just a handful of systems, it is much more accessible and less daunting to manage. Driven heavily by a new collection based management system, everyone is building a Diamond Dynasty team just by playing any mode in MLB The Show.

New Slide Step System
(PS4 & PS3 Only)
Perform a slide step while pitching to combat pitchers with a slow delivery to the plate, or runners who consistently get great jumps. This “game within a game” creates a risk/reward factor when performing a slide step. The pitcher will now have less control and slightly less velocity when a slide step is executed, but will be quicker to the plate. As a runner, you now have to worry about your opponent using a slide step when you are attempting a steal.

Legends
(PS4, PS3, VITA)
We partnered with the MLB Player’s Alumni Association to make a total of 30 Legends playable in MLB 15 The Show. Collect an entire MLB team, and you’ll unlock an iconic alumni player from that team. There’s one from each team, and though you’ll have to find or unlock the card to slot them into your Dynasty squad, you can simply opt in to utilizing the whole pool of Legends in your Franchise mode.

Presentation Improvements
(PS4)

  • Dynamic stat based presentations
  • Split screen functionality
  • Real-time situational/emotional AI scenes (dugouts, crowd, etc.)
  • All-new Jumbotron movies
  • More Team and Player celebrations
Play-by-Play, Commentary, and PA Improvements
(PS3 & PS4 Only)

  • Improved strike zone accuracy with new pitch locations for on-the-black calls and borderline balls & strikes
  • Improved hit call accuracy through new field zone locations and deeper parameter logic
  • Improved runner rounding base and runner scoring content for more exciting big-play calls
  • Improved deep fly ball logic that allows more diverse calls on potential home runs, and prevents the user from hearing calls that give away the play result before it occurs
  • Improved foul ball logic to allow for open-ended play-by-play on playable or nearly playable balls, prevents user from hearing calls that give away the result
  • New batter introductions and pitch result content for the new skip batter walkup system (speeds up gameplay, tightens play-by-play)
  • New system for handling safe result calls that includes proper acknowledgement of the runner’s slide type
  • New conversations with color commentary that remember and discuss the team’s recent record
  • New conversations with color commentary that highlight the impact of important double plays

  • Over 1,700 new lines of play-by-play content
  • Over 1,400 new lines of color commentary
Instant Replay Challenge System

Universal Rewards and Licensed Equipment detailed:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46Fb_hIORFM

In the last couple years, we’ve added something we call your Universal Profile, which tracks your playstyle tendencies and passively rewards you with XP and Stubs while you play. This year, in addition to XP and Stubs, you’ll earn new Items usable throughout different game modes.
  • Road to the Show is a mode focused on one player’s path to the majors and beyond. As you play, you’ll find different qualities of licensed equipment that can enhance your player’s attributes. Once you find them, you’ll equip them to your player for an instant boost to his skill. Your player has slots for a Bat, Batting Gloves, Fielding Glove, Cleats, and echoing the traditions of our sport, a Ritual item.
  • Franchise is a mode focused on managing baseball organizations on every level. Periodically, you’ll find Brand Sponsorship contracts. Once you have the contract in hand, you can choose at any time to partner your Franchise team with the Brand. Doing so will add some Brand flavor to your interface during game broadcasts. The Sponsorship also earns your team budget incentives based on how you performance in a certain statistic.
  • Diamond Dynasty is a fantasy baseball card mode where you build a custom team and assemble players you find into a squad. Diamond Dynasty is DRASTICALLY changed this year so keep an eye out for a more focused blog about it. MLB Player Cards and Stadiums Cards will be rewarded as you play. While playing ANY mode, you’ll be passively building a fantasy squad of MLB pros.
  • Collect an entire MLB team or get REALLY lucky with a pack, and you’ll unlock an iconic alumni player from one of 30 MLB teams.
We’re very excited this year that we’ve partnered with nine iconic baseball brands to bring items from their product catalog directly into the game. We are lucky to have such amazing partners. Check out this list of awesomeness:

  • Franklin®

Ended up pre-ordering the 10th Anniversary Edition at Best Buy, which was less than MSRP for the regular edition with GCU.

I preordered the 10th Anniversary edition, even though they're as stupid as WWE when it comes to knowing the definition of anniversary (as in calling Wrestlemania 25 "the 25th anniversary of Wrestlemania".

I love the sound of the directional hitting interface. That was one of the features that made the MVP series so great.

If you want to get technical, the series has been around since the '98 debut. They only count from when they rebranded it from the plain MLB name to MLB The Show, even though the whole thing is kind of dumb.

I got the 10th anniversary edition preordered from BB. I guess I better get a PS4 soon so I can play it. I really wish they had a combo that included the Vita version as well.

Diamond Dynasty details plus some talk about online improvements:

Since its debut in MLB 12 The Show, the Diamond Dynasty mode has offered franchise fans a twist on how they can usually interact with their favorite MLB players in a baseball game. Baseball cards are so intrinsically at the heart of the sport and its amazing history and tradition, so it always made sense to incorporate that way of appreciating baseball into The Show. It’s a nice complement to Franchise and Road to the Show modes, since the strategy of building your team (and that thrill of a rare player card!) is a wholly different experience from in-game action.

With MLB 15 The Show, Diamond Dynasty is seeing radical changes. So many in fact that this year we’re calling itDiamond Dynasty Distilled. Why “Distilled?” A common definition calls the process the extracting “the essential meaning or most important aspects of,” which is precisely what we’ve aimed to do. It’s more intuitive, it’s easier to get into, and we hope you’ll find it more satisfying than ever.

Check out this new video blog we’ve made, narrated by designer Lance Leahy, detailing some of the biggest changes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptkDbzwhd-w

Lastly, we know some of you haven’t tuned in for our livestreams yet (we’re trying to host them weekly on our Twitch channel), so you may think the question of online in this year’s game has gone unanswered. We take pride in listening to the community intently, and we know online play is a priority for a lot of Show gamers.

Simply put: a lot of work has gone into improving online play in MLB 15 The Show. The overall experience will be more stable, more consistent, and feel better. As we stated last year when we revealed that we were tearing down and rebuilding the foundation of our netcode, it’s a process. We’re a full year into a major paradigm shift in terms of how we handle synchronization, how we’re hiding latency for the player, etc. We’re going to talk a lot more about what’s gone into it and what fans can expect, but for now we’d just like to assure you that online remains a focus and pillar for us, it’ll be better this year, and it’ll continue to get better.

Hard to touch on everything in one blog post!

Follow us on Twitter (@MLBTheShow) and stay tuned for more info in the coming weeks as we approach MLB 15 The Show’s launch on March 31st for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita. If you’re looking to snag ’15 on PS4, check out theAnniversary Edition commemorating 10 years of MLB The Show; not only does it come with a lot of in-game value, but we’ve gotten a lot of great feedback on that stylish steelbook!

I remember Amazon a few years ago gave us $20 off when purchasing the PS3 and Vita option. Has anyone done that since? I would love to be able to play my RTTS and Franchise between my PS4 and Vita since now we can finally transfer careers between seasons.

Diamond Dynasty Distilled reminds me of the NBA 2K14 app I used to play. You would feed lesser players to better players to beef up their stats.

I like how you'll be earning stuff in other modes. Doesn't make me feel like I'm missing out by focusing mostly on RTTS or Franchise. I could, if I'm understandingly correctly, jump into dynasty and I would already have a good collection of cards to play with.

The good news is the Vita version is only supposed to be $20 so it's like it already is $20 off.

Can't wait to dive into this!  Gives me the opportunity to take my Cubs to the promised land, albeit in a virtual sense.

Me too. Me too...........

My fear with that is that they aren't putting a lot of effort into the Vita version. As long as it works as an extension for my RTTS and franchise saves I'm fine with that but I'm not hoping for too much else.

Digital or disc
For console games I'm physical all the way. As for Vita I'm leaning towards physical even though I have only purchased digital games to this point. I only have an 8 GB card so I could easily just put cartridge in the system and be done with it.

I'm going digital for this one because I have a lot of credit left from the holidays. It only "feels" like I'm paying $20 to buy it. That's stupid mental accounting, but it works!

I'm actually doing both, though I plan to trade the disc in and keep that sweet steelbook.  Being able to have it preloaded and available at 12:01 EST pushed me over the top for digital.  And this way I can get both a Nationals and Indians Skin-It for my two controllers.

EU only, and Im guessing there's like 8 people who actually play online over there. Still buying MLB 15!!!
True. Still do not like any servers being taken down so quickly. It makes me resist going digital only even more. One day your game may no longer be available.

Agreed with that point. I still feel like I own that game forever when I hold it in my hands. I guess you could backup all your games on another HDD and keep that in a safe but it still isn't the same.

One day remaining, folks! Also, the Spotify App was released today, so it couldn't have come at a better time to listen to some tunes while playing the game!

I got my Anniversary Edition today, but I haven't opened it yet. I've been downloading a bunch of players from the vault in 14 to transfer over into 15. I also got my code from Amazon for the free controller skin.

The Steelbook is really nice. The inside has a photo montage of the last ten MLB The Show covers, including both Joe Mauer covers in the middle.

It supposedly requires 40 GB to install.

I did an online store pick up. I got the pick up notification but no code. I'll give it a day to see if the code will be sent. Thanks for the reply.
I pre-order and just picked it up from Best Buy. They send me the code in a separate pretty much immediately as I was walking out the store.

I'm having a lot of fun with the card collecting aspect. I'm going to see how many I can get legitimately through playing and opening packs before I head to the marketplace. I've already got quite a few thanks to the 15 bonus packs from the Anniversary Edition, and I spent the 12,000 bonus stubs on new packs. I also spent some real money on packs, but I'm trying to stay away from that.

I'm not sure what the point of the PS3-only stadium cards in the PS4 version is, though.

Ended up sending Best Buy an email this morning requesting my SkinIt code since I never got it.

Finally figured out how to redeem the item packs and stubs that the 10th Anniversary Edition included.

It'll be interesting to see how long the community card market tanks like Steam's market does for the same basic idea. People listing no name players for hundreds of stubs will inevitably go down to next to nothing at some point to make whatever card trophies trivialized.

I'm also digging the new card system. It's a thrill to see what you're going to get. Makes you want to keep playing to see what else you can receive. I haven't bought any cards yet, just the ones from the anniversary pack, but I've been tempted...I really need a good seconded basemen!!

Like frisky said, I think it's ridiculous how some people are asking hundreds for mediocre players. It will be nice when the hype goes down and you can build a decent team for a lot less.

By the way, since nobody has said it... Welcome to The Show!

I'd appreciate to hear what they tell you about this, since I'm in the same boat.
