This story never sounded right when I first heard it so I am glad the truth is coming out.

They first claimed the mom and daughter were followed home during a road rage incident and shot at.  Now they finally tell the half truth which is that the mom came home, demanded that her armed son get in the car with her, and they went out looking for trouble to get back at the people who cut her off.

I still don't believe the story he tells.  I'm sure he pulled out his gun first to try to scare these people, didn't count on them being armed too, and bit off more than he could chew.  I hope this weighs on him and he thinks twice next time he wants to be an armed bully.

Totally agreed, they played it as some sob story of a soccer mom getting killed by some road rage incident, when in fact she and her white trash son when out looking for trouble.

So she drove home to go get her son with a gun and wanted to hunt/stalk/find the guy who cut her off?  Sound like she was pulling a George Zimmerman move, except this time Treyon wasn't going to be a victim.

'"I would never say that anybody went looking for trouble," Steiber said when asked to characterize Tammy Meyers' five-to-10 minute drive through the neighborhood.'

No, she just went looking to cause trouble.

My understanding is what when the mom and the 22-year-old went out with the gun looking for trouble, they didn't find any trouble. It wasn't until they returned home that the suspect opened fire and killed the mom. If that's true, the events would not be connected to each other. Depends on who drew their weapons first.

I don't know for sure, though. The details are fluid and this might make for an interesting high-profile court case that doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. But they sound like white trash and drugs were probably involved.

yeah I saw that too.  No matter who started it, it's going to be really hard to prove that the mother/son were out to "get" him and he fired in self defense killing her in the process.  He's going away for a long time.

This whole situation stinks though and I don't believe the family at all, especially since they have already lied.

Initially they lied entirely about it and claimed the mom was just followed home by road ragers and killed.

Then the son finally admitted she came home to get him and they went out with his gun looking for trouble, but the son has yet to tell the police what happened when they went out and only told them she got killed by the car as it followed them home.

Then the husband was claiming they only left out the second time so that the shooter/road rager wouldn't associate their car with the house.

But once the kid was caught and turned out he lived 1 block away, the husband and family are now claiming the mom knew the kid and even mentored him?

What sense does that make?  Then it means she knew who he was during the first incident and if he knew her then he already knew where she lived, so this whole excuse of them leaving to lead the shooter away from the house doesn't fly at all.

Also, even through his bragging the shooter claims this all started with the son waving his gun out of the green car in the school parking lot.

I don't believe the son or family in this at all.  She was a hot-headed idiot looking for trouble, knew who this kid was, and brought her son out to teach him a lesson.  They didn't expect the kid to be armed too and brought all this on to themselves.  Depending on the behavior of the kid, he may not have a valid self defense claim, but I have 0% sympathy for the mom or the kid.  I hope they refund all that money they raised for her before people knew the truth of what happened.
