I am getting my girlfriend a tablet for under $200. They both about $180. She will use it for general web surfing, instagram, facebook, vine. And very minimal (if at all) gaming. Which would be just games on the playstore. Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated!

Nexus 7 has a 1080p display and 2GB of RAM over those two tablets, though you're limited to built-in storage.

Transformer Pad does have the option for a keyboard dock so that it work like a mini-laptop.

Both the Transformer Pad and Tab 4 have microSD card for local additional storage, though they're only 1280 x 800 displays.

I do love my Nexus 7 and it's a great little tablet.  Lollipop on it is a bit laggy for random reasons at random times, though it works very well otherwise.

What about performance wise, any ideas as far as how fast one is compared to the others. The Transformer pad is a pretty nice size, so thats a plus.

Fastest will be the Nexus 7 but for the activities that you describe, any of them will be fine. I would say go for the Nexus 7. My 2012 and my 2013 models have been great so far.

My 2012 model had begun to shown its age. I realized that when I got my S5 Phone, it loaded so much quicker than my Nexus 7, which I restored to factory settings multiple times.

I purchased the Tab 4 last week, so far so good. I paid $199 for the 8 inch but they also off the 7 inch for $149.

GameStop has the Tab 4 for $149, and comes with a 50 buck gift card. That deal starts on the 22nd if I'm not mistaken. You could snag her and yourself something. ☺

Yeah I am sure the S5 is miles ahead of the Nexus 7, but how does the Nexus compare to the Galaxy 4 tab?
