New to 3DS do I want the "New" one?

I am debating on buying a DS, I'm not big on 3d so that's not a concern of mine.  What is a concern is playing old games and most certainly new ones that will be coming out.  I haven't had a DS since the originals that came out in crimson red.  So it's been a long long time since I last played a handheld Nintendo system.

I have the cash for a bundle GameStop has releasing the 25th.

Given all of this, should I buy the new one or would I be okay with the older version?

Might as well. Especially since if you plan to play new games that will be coming out, you dont want to be stuck with the old model if the game you want is only compatible with the New 3ds.

Thank you; but I ended up passing for the time being.

It was a Zelda, Smash Bros., Zelda eguide bundle and rang up to nearly $325, not quite ready to invest that much into the system.  I'll wait and hope to find a non-bundled version.
