Buyer's remorse on XB1

Anyone else out there having buyer's remorse on this console?  I picked it up during black friday with the two AC games.  With the $50 Target GC promo, it seemed like a pretty good deal.  I've since sold my two AC digital codes (prefer physical) and have only two games for it so far, Titanfall and Killer Instinct season one.

Xbox weekly sales have been at best mediocre and I have not had an XBL subscription for nearly a year and a half.  I have both PS4 and XB1 hoping that healthy competition will help consumer prices, but so far I have not really seen it.  I actually wanted to integrate the media portion of the console to my existing setup (I have windows media center extension on my PC to support DVR capabilities), but it doesn't support it!  I wanted to simplify my entertainment center by moving out the 360 into the man cave, but can not do it.

For those who use XB1 for media capability, how have you been using it and have you been able to use it as part of a DVR solution?  I'd be interested to know what/how the best way to use my console since it really isn't being used for gaming.

Nope, absolutely love mine. I thought I'd be hanging on to the last gen for longer than this, but I got the 'Bone for Destiny upgrade and Dragon Age and it's been awesome.

I do wish the pack-in game could have been something other than AC Unity because I've been a little underwhelmed by that game so far, but oh well.

I don't use it for any media stuff except for playing BDs, so I can't help you there. Just my $0.02.

Nope. I love my XB1. Gets better with every upgrade. I ended up selling my PS4 because it just sat there collecting dust.

I personally dont care at all about weekly sales or who is making the most money as I do not work in either company, nor do I own stock in either company. I play games, so play the games I like the best. On the same subject, my XB1 is used to play games, not for the media nonsense, so I cannot comment on any of that.

Nope. Had my console since day one (have a Sunset OD console too) and I don't regret it one bit. I have a :ps4: also and honestly they both get get the same amount of play. I would say for consoles it looks like this, :ps4: 45%, :xb1: 45%, and :ps3: 10% for time put in to each console.

I think the sales have been good. Maybe you just didn't like the stuff that was on sale but for the most part I think they have been pretty solid if we are going by since Black Friday.

I have cable, Comcast Xfinity to be exact with all the movie channels and etc but I don't have the HD package because I don't care about that stuff. Since I don't have that I can't hook the cable box up to the :xb1: since it doesn't have a HDMI port. Even If I did, I probably wouldn't use it because there's no point in me having the console on to watch tv. I do use the HBO Go app quite a bit along with watch ESPN but that's about it for the media stuff.

Not really. I still game primarily on the PC, but the X1 is a really nice entertainment piece.  My wife games on the X1, and we coop on it.  We run all our entertainment through it, including an X360 that is working as a Windows Media Center Extender (with all of our OTA TV/DVR content).

It works well, aside from being unable to change channels with One Guide (I couldn't get this to work even after renumbering my channels in WMC).  I'd like to see WMC support built into the X1, but I'm not holding my breath - as it stands now, it works just fine.  And I prefer the DVR data to be centralized so that all the TVs in the house can access it (we have 3 X360s for this), rather than just one.  The X1 turns on and off the X360, I can pause, rewind, play, stop, fast forward, all with voice commands which is nice.

I also have a Plex Server on the DVR PC, which if WMC is ever acting up, I can just access my DVR content there - I can also access my DVR content anywhere in the world with a fast enough internet access.    Really my only pet peeves are that the VUDU app is complete shit (which sucks if you have kids, because it's the only place to access DMA Disney Movies).  Plex is still paid (although we rarely use it), and there's no Lifetime or History Apps - which really only sucks for Project Runway for my Wife, and Vikings for both of us.   We just get those through the X360.

All in all, we're pretty pleased.  Of course I only paid $250 from Newegg during the Bitcoin deal.  Then I got my Kinect on Craigslist for $45.

I've cut cable service for TV, so I rely mostly on HD antenna for local broadcasts with the major networks. I have my PC setup to record programming that my wife and I watch. We access the programming through my x360's. I bought an XB1 expecting some legacy support with WMC but it is much more constrained that I thought it would be and so I can no longer use it as my main media device. My main problem is this. Most of my games are on playstation and PC (breakdown would be :ps4: 65%, :pc: 30%, :xb1: 5%) I really haven't found a good use for my XB1 so I figure I'd shoot a thread up for the community and see how everyone else uses it. I realize it is a gaming console, but like most recent consoles, they've started adding more and more capability into them making them more of a centralized media device. Games aside, just trying to think of some ideas on how to use my XB1 now since it has not been turned on for quite some time.

Apologies for the double post. Is there a resource you used to setup the XB1 to access the PC with the WMC extension? I have been looking for this! Ideally all the kids programming is on my PC and I'd love to be able to access those shows and finally simplify the entertainment area!

I don't have remorse just yet (probably wont have it), but I rarely use my XB1.  Luckily I got it on that crazy thanksgiving day sale with the $100 coupon.  After selling/trading in all the extras I ended up getting a refurbished (but actually brand new) XB1+kinect and a 15 month warranty for $160.

I've played around 3 hours of Forza Horizon 2, 2 hours of Sunset Overdrive, 2 hours of Fantasia, and 2 hours of Halo MCC on it and that's about it.  It basically takes a back seat to my PS4, Vita, and 3DS, but I do play it more than my PS3 (only occasionally play South Park on there).

Still, I hope to finish SSO, H:MCC (single player), and get some good time in on Halo 5 when it comes out so I still think it was a really good buy.  No regrets!

I am actually having the opposite effect. I had purchased the PS4 on launch day and picked up the Xbox One when the Sunset Overdrive bundle came out. I was extremely satisfied with Sunset Overdrive, it was one of my favorite games of 2014.

My Xbox One has been getting a lot more playtime than my PS4 since I have had both. Part of this is due to having added an external 2TB drive to the Xbone which has given me a massive storage difference between the two systems (PS4 is rocking the standard 500GB HD). My PS4 has roughly 50 GB of data left and my XBone has nearly 2TBs of free space. I don't notice much of a difference with game performance on anything multi-platform I have played on either system and while I like the PS4 controller slightly better, I definitely don't hate the Xbones controller and actually prefer the analog sticks and triggers on it. A big advantage the Xbox One has on the PS4 for me though is that Xbox Live is simply a better online service than PSN. I think the PSN does a lot of things better (PS+ and the PS Store), but overall Xbox Live has better integration with your friends list, more media features and apps like Twitch are vastly better on the One.

I unfortunately don't have anything, but a standard basic Metronet cable box. This means that I can't take advantage of any the cool One Guide features that someone with Comcast, Direct TV, or any major cable or satellite provider that is compatible. With that said I have a lot of streaming services (Hulu Plus, Netflix, WWE Network, and Crunchyroll) all of the apps work great (they work just as good on the PS4) but it's nice being able to jump in and out of games and TV shows and be right where you left off.

All around I am satisfied with my purchase and would say that the Xbox One and PS4 are on the same playing field for me, I wouldn't call one better than the other. The both have ups and downs, but for the most part are pretty similar consoles.

I think the platform you choose is dependent on the games you play. I admit that it was bad on me to not do more homework than I did, as I really just expected the XB1 to support WMC natively. I feel that the next gen consoles are getting fewer and fewer console exclusive titles and that if you're just buying a console to play games, for the most part, it wont matter if you go PS4 or XB1.

For the most part, I just dont feel I've been using my XB1 the way I wanted to and my expectation was for it to get better as it's been a little more than a year now for both consoles and the support is either here or it's not I guess. IZOD is doing something similar to what I want out of my XB1 and hopefully he can point me in the right direction. Having the DVR portion of the entertainment area straightened out is priority one for me right now, as the wife is getting impatient with having to use multiple remotes to control tv/movie/dvr programming.

The only remorse I have about buying the Xbox One is that I should of waited and not got the day one edition. $500 for the Xbox One and Kinect(That I don't use) and now a little over a year later you can get it with 2-3 games and an extra controller for $350. Not to mention it's about 5 times better now after them adding features and fixing bugs every update. I love it. Netflix is pretty much the only non-gaming thing I use it for, although I tried hooking the cable up through it and didn't like how my Xbox always had to be on when watching tv. I also own a PS4 and probably play them both about the same. Free games on both systems make it worth the money to me to have subscriptions to their online services especially if you have the last gen consoles.

I don't have buyer's remorse, as I bought mine for playing Dragon Age: Inquisition primarily.  I've picked up a number of games for it, physical and digital, with a 4TB drive connected to it.    It's primarily been a DA: I machine for the most part.

i also have a PS4, though that was picked up during BF while the XB1 was almost two months earlier.   I have been picking up console exclusive on their respective platforms though for multiplatform releases, I've been leaning more towards PS4 than XB1 when there's any real difference between the two (Tomb Raider DE, Metro Redux, Shadow of Mordor), otherwise, I opt for the XB1.

The PS4 gets less gametime than the XB1, though that's because I'm enjoying DA: I quite a bit.

I got a unit off AWD for 260, only used it once to play KI. Tried to use it as a media center but video files off my external HDD looked washed out and not up to par. I would like to get a kinect and try it out as far as viewing tv and such but can't find one cheap enough yet. Not regretting it, cause it was a good price and I'll use it to play exclusives like (SSO, Halo, KI).  My ps4 & 3ds gets all my playtime at the moment.

I had buyer's remorse on PS4. I got mine at launch and was super excited about it, had it preordered since it popped up during E3 2013.

But after being disappointed with a majority of its exclusives, I sold it after 4 months to a friend, a few weeks after I got a Xbox One. I don't regret it. There still haven't been many games for it that excite me, but perhaps I'll buy one again at some point next year when it gets more big exclusives and it'll be cheaper.

I've been waiting patiently for price drops on the physical disc forza games and MCC. I'm not really into either genre, but I'd be willing to try out the exclusives. Any other decent exclusives out there at a good price? I'm really hoping MS steps up with indie sales (especially those w/out physical releases). Bing rewards really helps me to offset the cost of digital games.

Yea thinking about it that is the only thing I regret. There were no games to even play for the first year it was out. If I waited until Dragon Age came out I could have saved a bunch of money and not had to buy the Kinect, which sits in the box never to be used.

Killer Instinct is the only reason I bought mine day one and the only reason I don't regret it. That and Guilty Gear are the best non-wii u next gen games.

I don't have remorse, but I'm not playing a ton out of it. Got it before Thanksgiving on the Kohls sale. I've so far played through Dead Rising 3 and Sunset Overdrive. Was extremely happy with both games, but nothing else is really grabbing me right now.

As for my PS4. Sadly I haven't played a game on it yet since I got it on Black Friday. Maybe I'll play the remastered Last of US or GTA5, but aside from that I don't see anything out right now I really need.

The system that gets the most play is the WiiU.

Lots of Smash Bros, some NES Remix, played Hyrule Warriors, Luigi version of Mario, Mario World, Mario Kart and DKC. I still have to unwrap my Bayonetta and Toad.

Of course the WiiU has been out for an extra year so I hope within a year the other two will get alot more play.

I've seen Forza and MCC cheap quite a few times now. Deadrising 3 and Titanfall are good games and can be found for pretty cheap

By cheap, I mean $10 or less. Picked up titanfall already. Am hoping to pick up dead rising, forza games and MCC by the end of this year.

I would like to weigh in on this one. I bought my Xbox One last October when they were still $400 with the free game and a year of Gamer's Club Unlocked was thrown in for free at Best Buy. That day, the store had very few games in stock that were worth the $59.99 price so I picked Diablo III. To this day, I still haven't played Diablo. I had also picked up a $10 copy of Dead Rising 3 which I have probably put less than an hour into at this point.

At this point, I own physical copies of Far Cry 4, Metro Redux, Murdered Soul Suspect, Killer Instinct Combo Breaker Pack, Need for Speed Rivals and Sunset Overdrive. Out of those, I've only played Far Cry 4, which I love because of how much I enjoyed the third game, and Sunset Overdrive, which got old pretty fast. I probably need to give the other games a shot but I work two jobs so I hardly ever have the time to play except on the weekends.

I just bought a PS4 the other day and I have been spending whatever free time I have on that system even though I don't get all the hype about The Last of Us Remastered. Mostly, I've been playing Injustice: Gods Among Us and indie stuff on PS4 while waiting for Persona 5 to come out.

I'm waiting for Cuphead to come out on Xbox One because it's my most wanted game on the system even though it's an indie game. I like the idea of a side-scrolling brawler that looks like a 1930s cartoon. And I just downloaded Rayman Legends for free with my Games With Gold so I can see myself playing that for a while. But it just seems like I made a bad decision buying the Xbox One.

Can anyone tell me why the damn thing is so big when PS4 is barely bigger than a PS3? Xbox One reminds me of one of those old-school top loader VCRs you might find in the AV room at a public junior high school.

No buyers remorse herr bought it day one edition then later picked up second one for the cheap at best buy traded in extra xbox 360 I had and had it in bedroom in played fps at my desk , got a ps4 white console and it looks awesome buy been collecting dust , I loved the uncharted series but to me there's not differences in both consoles besides the exclusives , I use my kinect everyday not for games but for everything it can do.

I bought an XB1 on Black Friday because it was cheap and the store was offering a nice gift card. I sold the digital copy game so that was a bonus. But I do have buyer's remorse because I don't use it for anything other than Rock Band, probably because of how much I spent on Rock Band for the Xbox 360. Wouldn't make sense to rebuy everything for the PS4.

I think only one friend has the XB1. Everyone else I'd play with would either be online via the PS4 or friends would just come over to play PS4 and Xbox 360 games. If a game is on multiple platforms, I'll just get the PS4 version. And already here comes the Xbox One S and the Scorpio.

I clicked on this after seeing it bumped up and see I weighed in about 18 months ago. Since it is up the top might as well update from Feb 2015. WiiU is now collecting dust for the most part - after playing Bayonetta and a ton of Smash I haven't found anything else that I wanted.

XBox One is now number one system - even though I've been playing catch up. Going through Walking Dead, Life is Strange, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and went through a bunch of arcade games.

Sadly PS4 never was played. I ended up selling my first one I opened and then the Arkham Knight edition I later bought but didn't open (got my money back so didn't lose anything). I plan on getting one eventually - I still want to play my sealed Last of Us and now Onechanabara.
