The Evil Within PC @ Target B&M $19.99 YMMV?

Was at Target and noticed an in store price cut on The Evil Within for PC only. Priced at $19.99. Didn't pick one up yet, going to try the demo on Steam. Lowest I've seen it so far.

Possibly YMMV.

TEW PC was once cheaper on Gamersgate (digital distributor), during a glitch-sale where it was around $11...if glitch-sales count to you. That was around Thanksgiving 2014, IIRC.

TEW PC Demo ran like garbage on my PC in 1080p: never over 25 frames. Anywhere from 10-25 frames was normal there.

TEW PC full version runs a bit better (since it has been patched-up a bit) - but still, anywhere from 20-30 frames at any moment at 1080p. While the game is technically gorgeous, it just runs quite poorly on my PC. It's a shame that it runs poorly - b/c the game, from what I played, was quite good.

BTW, my PC = i7 950; 1 GB VRAM of GeForce 560 Ti; 16 GB RAM; Win 7 64-bit.

That sucks. I'm DLing the demo now. My main pc has a i7 950 as well, but I'm running 6gb triple channel and a GTX 670. My living room PC has an i7 870, 8gb ram, and SLI GTX 470's. I'll have to try it on each.

You'll probably have better luck w/ your PC with the GTX 670 than what I had.

Hope the demo runs well for you. Give it a shot.

I'd be curious how 2 SLI'd 470's run it. That'd be interesting.

This game isn't kidding around with its stiff VRAM requirements (1 GB VRAM minimum on the vid-card); and especially w/ its 4 GB VRAM recommendation.

I should also note: TEW PC full-version (the base-game alone without any DLC's) takes up almost 42 GB of HDD space.

Can anyone confirm if this physical copy contains a steam activation code or if it uses some other type of DRM? I know TEW is on Steam but that doesn't always guarantee the physical copy is as well for PC games, much like the upcoming release of GTA V for example.

Wish they would just break down & make a patch to remove the letterbox on console. PC version has it via mod but I can't run the game on my system.

According to the Bethblog (It is Steam Activation):

Recommended PC System Specifications

  • 64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8
    i7 with four plus cores
  • 4 GBs RAM
  • 50 GB of hard drive space*
  • GeForce GTX 670 or equivalent with 4GBs of VRAM
  • High Speed Internet Connection
    Steam account and activation
*It’s worth noting that the 50 GB of space required is for the PC install. When the installation is complete, the game will take up ~41 GB of HDD space.

They can't. The game already drags into the 20s on ps4 with it.

Specs on PC are a little overboard for what is needed. I am rocking 670s in sli and the first three chapters have run smoothly. Only have 2gb of vram and running at 1440p.

no offense, but what do you expect? you are running on geforce 560 ti. and that setup is ancient when it comes to pc hardware/components.

Better than that.

Wolf: TNO and RAGE on PC run tons better than this - and they're both also on the Id Tech 5 Engine.

Of course, one could say that a revamped dynamic lighting system was implemented by Tango GameWorks for TEW PC. But, yeah - I still expect better than this at 1080p, performance-wise. Namely, all I'm asking for here is a solid 30 FPS at the very worst.

my bad, how is that PS2 mouse holding up no more IRQ conflicts?
i am actually surprised when building my pc, that some motherboards still come with ps/2 port. i thought everything is run off usbs. there are also some people in the world that still uses floppy disk.
