Wii U Uboost (White) for $7.97 on Gamestop.com

Not sure if anyone else has had one of these for a long time but I have had mine for a year and a half now and it doesn't hold a charge anymore. It was good at first but a few months ago I noticed it would only charge the system for about 5 minutes before turning off. Now I have that high capacity 3600 mAh battery from ebay (only $13 shipped) that works pretty well. At first it didn't hold a charge for very long but after draining and recharging it about 10 times it lasts just over 8 hours now.

Also amazon PMed in case anyone wants it...

How did you get one for $13? Is it a 3rd party battery?

Yeah, third party. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extended-Battery-Pack-for-Nintendo-Wii-U-Gamepad-3600mAh-3-7V-Rechargeable-/321299877605?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4acef70ee5 . Its $15 now but you can still get it shipped directly from China for $13, probably even cheaper if you use best offer.

Not sure how long it'll last but its a lot better than the nyko because it doesn't add any bulk or much weight to the gamepad.

I've never liked Nyko products because they always seem to break easy and have no life to them after a month or two, but my experiences may be different from others. Its a good price if you play the Wii U nonstop, but for small casual players of it like myself, it isn't really worth it

How much longer does that last vs the original battery? Is the additional weight negligible? Still can use the charging cradle?

The UBoost seems to work well for a year as stated, but doesn't fit with the charging dock either.

The nyko does work with the charging dock. It even works with the nerf armor although it's a tight fit.

The high capacity one works noticeably longer than the original one. I never did any official tests until I got the new one because i never felt the need to. And I'm only getting 8+ hours after I fully charged it and then fully depleted it about 10 times. I'm hoping that time keeps going up as I keep using it. I thought it was defective at first because it kept dying after about an hour. The weight difference is negligible and yes, you can still use the charging cradle. When you take out the previous battery you'll see nintendo left room in there so they could try to sell you their high capacity battery... It's actually pretty irritating they didn't just ship the high capacity one with every system.

I usually just keep the gamepad wall charger plugged in to the Gamepad while I play.  I never notice it.

Don't worry, you got a much better value.

I had the black version of this and it was just a pain. I'm so glad I spring for the official battery.

I also have the official larger capacity battery and it barely adds an hour to my gameplay.

I do not have the gamepad sound turned on. For $40 that I paid on amazon.uk, I feel this was not the best investment. Even at $30, I'd hesitate. The extended battery by Nyko maybe your better bet.

Before: 4 hours

After: 5-6 hours

Totally agree with this post, mine doesn't really work as advertised either as far as the charging aspect (have to keep pressing the boost power button to charge every 5-10 min or so).

The reason I still keep it on is because the kickstand feature is outstanding, something I didn't realize I would need so much. Watching videos, using the gamepad as a second screen (Wind Waker, Pikmin, Monster Hunter), and web browsing is much more convenient with the kickstand.

I can third fourth fifth whateverth that these are garbage, I have one, too, and it drains itself just sitting there, just like the standard wii u tablet battery does.

:/ seriously I barely even used my wii u much when I got this and while early on it gave me maybe another 2 hours or so of use, not even a year later the thing barely gives me an extra half hour of play time.

Are you sure you didn't get duped with a fake? I've never heard any complaints about the official N high capacity battery. If it was actually 100% official I would have returned it as you must have gotten a bad one or something. The Nyko is most definitely NOT the better option.

It's definitely too late to return it if it was a fake. All the packaging, branding and stickers look authentic to me. It barely squeezes an extra hour of gameplay for me. An extra hour is 25% more, so i guess that's somewhat of an improvement.

Original battery 1550mAh

Extended battery2500 mAh

Sounds like I got a dud. Oh well.
